1 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 07/10/2024

I turned in my Toyota on 7/10/24 for a recall on the sliding doors and was told the vehicle needed tobe taken to the mobility dealer; sacvans mobility, that modified it, for the repair. Sacvans said they wanted a diagnostic fee first before they would decide to fix it or not.

2 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 02/15/2024

This vehicle is a tire eater. It does not matter what the brand of tire it is- michelin, bridgestone, or yokohama, tires last, at best, 18 months of local soccer mom driving. After five sets of 50k mile, or better rated tires, at $800 to $1200 hundred per set, I think it is time that Toyota owns up to the fact that something is wrong with this model (4x2) vehicle. In my mind thjis is similar to the Toyota airbag situation only on a smaller scale. The manufacturer always has an out, such as, did the customer have the vehicle aligned, have the tire pressure checked, rotate tire on schedule, was it driven off road? my concern is that just about any driver would expect to get 30 to 40 thousand miles of normal driving from a set of premium tires. If the tires wear abnormally quickly while expecting "normal" tire mileage, this puts the driver in danger due to unexpected tire failure and possible tire related accident. This needs some data analysis.

3 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 05/04/2023

Door to gas tank fill breaking off. Very common problem noted online by several owners of this vehicle. If it does not close properly the engine will not start. As it begins to break at the hinge the door sticks out. I fear it will fall off one day. Dealer acknowledges this is a problem and knows there is no recall for it. I have seen other exact vans that the door has been removed completely.

4 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 02/08/2023

Due to poor design, air system intakes (eg under front seats) and outlets have not been protected by grilles, allowing intrusion of rodents into air system blower motor and heat box. I had rodent feces in my air filter system and blower motor and dead rodents in my heat box in oct 2022 and has recurred in Feb 2023. Rodent intrusion in air system presents serious risk of respiratory illness to humans. Rodent infestation in vehicle can also cause startling to driver which presents an additional safety risk. Air system access should be protected by grilles at all inlet and outlet points.

5 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 01/05/2023

My vehicle had been repaired for the recall involving the power sliding doors. The entire cable assembly was replaced. That repair has now failed and the sliding door is inoperable. The cable snapped and the driver side door will not open. I am afraid that it may open while driving, which caused the recall in the first place. I don't want to drive the vehicle for fear of the other sliding door failing as well. These repairs should last much longer than 5 years, especially something as important as the sliding door, where all the children sit. What a huge safety issue for what is supposed to be a vehicle for hauling children around. Luckily the incident happened in a parking lot.

6 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 01/04/2023

On a warm day after driving the van about 15 minutes then stop for 15 minutes or more. It is taking longer than usual to crank the van. I have search around online. It seems like a common problem Sienna's fuel pump. . Read more...

7 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 08/24/2022

We got into an accident today, and none of the sliding doors would not slide open. It would not even allow us to pull the doors opens. The vehicles electrical was damaged, but that should not prevent the other doors from opening. This is a very bad situation if someone is needing to evacuate the vehicle. The rear passengers would be trapped. Please address this issue with Toyota ASAP. People who usually have vans have big families and small children. This would be a very bad situation if vehicle needed to be evacuated ASAP. The rear passengers would be stuck.

8 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 10/07/2021

Sunroof exploded while driving.

9 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 01/01/2021

Water intrusion from front sunroof when vehicle is parked at a 5% grade with the nose downward. Multiple vehicles exhibit this issue. Toyota is not creating any TSB and will mot even remedy it even if we have an extended warranty. Here is a link to the discussion thread: [xxx] I have not posted on this thread but I have the exact same issue for years. Toyota dealerships want me to first pay $1000 in labor to pull down the headliner and test. Then ask the warranty to cover the assembly, if they don't cover it. . . Then I am on the hook for the work. The missing seam sealer is a common issue that will not manifest inside the 3yr / 36k mile warranty. My issue started around 2020 that I noticed and every dealership would not help me other than place a large burden on me. This can impact the electrical and the airbag curtains. The issue needs to have a seal sealer added to the sunroof assembly as the fix. As a family vehicle, this is a dangerous issue for multiple occupants in a single 7 or 8 person hauler minivan. Please ask Toyota remedy this issue that has been going on for over a decade. Please ask them to stop forcing customers to have sunroofs and panoroofs. . . When they can't build it correctly. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

10 Equipment problem

3 issue with 5tdkk3dc2fs565851 Toyota Sienna 2015 le van *1 - seat belt - 2nd row driver side seat belt cannot be wear. Cannot wear seat belt as the red part that fastens the seat belt clip does not work. Unable to fasten seat belt in the 2nd row seat behind driver. 2* at 30,000 miles with proper careful driving brake lights turn on in rain - all the lights start to flash in dashboard. *3- front driver side bumber where it meets the fender does not hold bumper properly. The clips that hold bumper are not made properly. I have seen at least 4 Toyota Sienna with same issues at different places of same model / design. When push back to fix the number it stays and after short 5-10 miles drive it comes back loose again. So I have to keep pushing the bumper back. I have the van for over a year now.

Bring to the dealer they cannot diagnose. Which is a ripe ofc. I even have it on video when it happen . Hoselton dealer told me they cannot diagnose the problem and want to charge me money for it. 19 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 11/19/2018

Van would reboot while parked or driving. It started with dashboard rebooting then I couldn't start the van. There was a time after driving I put the van in park and turned it off but my van was moving on it's own. I always call the dealership when the rebooting occurs. I was told either it was a software issue or since the problem went away, I should be fine. Well recently when my van stalled and had to be towed to the dealership. I was told it was a battery issue and the battery was replaced. When I picked up my van and went home, noticed my rear view camera would not come on went I put the van in reverse. Called the dealership to tell them what's going on and the service advisor woman was very rude and stated it was battery and they never checked anything else. I stated to the woman the I've always expressed my concerns about the van rebooting, won't start, or moving on it's own. The woman became very rude and hung up on me. I decided to go right back to the dealership on the way there I called back to speak to the manager of service department to explain what's going on. While driving there the check engine and another light turned on. Shortly after that as I was turning left, while in the middle of the intersection my van stalled. The steering wheel and brakes locked and the van completely shuts off. I was locked in my van with no control over the van and it was moving towards a pole. Luckily the van stopped before hitting anyone or anything. I was on the phone with the service manager the entire time. The manager called for someone to pick me up and called a tow company. I asked the manger if they are stating my issue was a battery and a new battery was installed why am I still having the same issue. The police was call because someone reported my van in the middle of the intersection.

20 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 10/24/2018

I have a 2015 Toyota Sienna se. I am currently at 49092 miles and am purchasing my third set of tires. The tire wear on this vehicle is abnormally high. I have purchased high quality tires (bridgestone 80k warranty, and michelin 60k). First set of factory issued tires were worn down to 3/32-4/32 in 24000 miles, second set was used to 4/32 in 25000 miles. Vehicle is driven under normal conditions, both highway and city driving. This is a significant safety issue to me in regards to handing, steering and stopping and it feel it may be attributed to the design of the vehicle itself to include the suspension components, frame setup, and weight of vehicle.

21 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 09/15/2018

For at least 4 years, water collects in the driver side pillar and soaks the seat belt. Toyota tells me they have never heard of this problem, although I do see it on you tube. I don't know if the water is damaging other components. But when I pull out seat belt water pours from the pillar and onto the floorboard behind driver seat. I keep a towel in van to keep water off driver and to mop up floor & pillar. The problem is ongoing. I keep a tarp over the roof when rain is expected.

After we got the recall with the sliding rear doors fixed, the passenger sliding door won't close anymore. It will go so far and then beep and open up again. I feel that it's a major safety issue and it needs to be addressed. After having the car for only 3 years, we shouldn't be having these kinds of problems with it.

The vehicle was traveling 45 mph on rt 102 north in southwest harbor, me by the echo lake national park entrance, when we noticed white/brown smoke in the rear view mirror. We had only been on the road for about 5 minutes. We pulled over and turned the car off. When the car came to a stop, black smoke came into the cabin and everyone evacuated. During the evacuation, we noticed flames coming from the front engine compartment as well as the underside of the vehicle. By the time the southwest harbor police and fire reached us, the vehicle was completely engulfed in flames. The vehicle had been driving well the entire trip. The vehicle had been serviced once at 5k miles. It is unknown exactly what caused the fire. We've filed an insurance claim with arbella insurance. The claim number is 033734081. Auto-dimm rear view mirror - dealership claimed they can't fix since it's day time & don't have tool to verify the fault. Burning smell from ac vents - dealership claimed because it's new and they sprayed deodorizer.
