Three problems related to front seat belt retractor have been reported for the 1996 Toyota Tacoma. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
While stopping at a store the seatbelt on the drivers side locked up and will not retract. Having hard time getting it fixed at the dealer.
Seat belt retractor failed causing the belt to be loose and to get caught outside the door.
Drivers seatbelt not working. Seatbelt mechanism broken. Dealer claims $150. 00 to repair. I feel this is a safety issue and defective part that dealer should address.
