Brake Foundation Components problems of the 1998 Toyota Tacoma

1 Brake Foundation Components problem

Failure Date: 01/19/2000

Front brake pads and rotors failed, consumer believes this is what caused a vehicle collision in which her vehicle collided with another vehicle while applying the brakes.

2 Brake Foundation Components problem

Failure Date: 12/24/1998

Brakes/pads on new 1998 truck were at 30% at first 12 months and needed to be replaced and rotors turned. Upon repairing, there is major vibration and slight grawl with clicking noise in forward or reverse. Dealer said it was normal to have vibration/pulling to large vehicles. I have a great concern for the safety of my family while driving my 1998 Toyota Tacoma 4wd extra cab. Dealer stated that there have been several brake replacements on similar vehicles from 7000-16000 miles on vehicle; however, due to no formal complaints, nothing can be done. Due to this fact, it will cost from $300-400 to repair, becuase warranty ends 12month/12,000 miles.

3 Brake Foundation Components problem

Front brakes worn out & brake light remains on.

4 Brake Foundation Components problem

Failure Date: 09/03/1998

While driving at any speed the steering and the vehicle vibrate. When applying the brakes the vehicle will be vibrating. Contacted dealer, can't determine the problem.

5 Brake Foundation Components problem

Failure Date: 08/04/1997

Was traveling about 55mph on the highway and vehiclslid away and got away , lost control. After 11000 miles had no brakes. Consumer took vehicle to dealership. Mechanic told her that vehicle needed brakes. 25000 miles and needs brakes again.

6 Brake Foundation Components problem

Mushy and soft brake pedals contributed to an accident. Yh.

7 Brake Foundation Components problem

Front brake rotors were replaced 3 times, and the brake shoes replaced 6 times. They were replaced every 16,000-18,000 miles due to excessive wear. During failure the vehicle would experience extended stopping distance, rearend hopped up if sudden braking was applied. Dealer was informed.

8 Brake Foundation Components problem

The vehicle vibrates at highway speeds and the brakes vibrate when applied as if the discs are bent, mechanic can not find any problems that would cause these symptoms.
