The hvac fan electrical connection burned and melted. I could smell burning inside my truck. My mechanic found the hvac blower fan connection had been so hot it burned and melted along with the resistor. Some of the wires were black and brown. I was worried the truck was going to catch on fire! this happened while I was driving. After looking online I found I am not the only person who has had this happen! Toyota denied the problem.
On a recent inspection of the lights on my vehicle I noticed that the daylight running lights (drl) were melting both left and right headlight assemblies. The light bulb retainer is discolored indicating signs of a high heat. My Toyota dealership confirmed there is a problem with the drl's, however they were only replacing the headlight assembly if the vehicle is under warranty. I then contacted Toyota customer service and asked if there was a fix for the headlights, they confirmed that there is no fix and they will not replace the headlight assembly. The problem is a potential fire hazard. An internet search provided numerous accounts and pictures of this chronic problem. I would like Toyota to correct the hazard and repair the damage to my vehicle. Again the biggest issue here is that if Toyota replaces the headlight assembly it will be with the same components that cause the problem.
I noticed while doing a walk around of my truck that one of the headlights was burned out. I thought nothing about the issue and planned to have it repaired. Within 2 weeks the other side burned out as well. This has now happened 3 times (77,000miles). I have spoken with several other owners and many are having the same issue, including a family member and coworkers. This is a major safety issue as if you don't catch when the first one burns out the other follows shortly thereafter and can leave you stranded.
Whenever slowing down from 25 mph to make a turn or just to slow up, when accelerator is again pushed down to speed up, the truck "hunts" for the proper gear, usually shifting to too low a gear for the speed needed (transmission/computer problem), causing vehicle to pause & not pick up speed. This causes a severe threat of being rear ended or hit in an intersection due to lack of acceleration. Dealers won't fix it or reprogram the computer. I've owned a lot of vehicles & none have had this problem. .
I have a 2010 Toyota Tacoma 2wd. I have a safety problem involving the electronic throttle control [etc]. When applying small pressure to the accelerator as you would in heavy stop and go traffic, the vehicle will sometimes lunge forward. This is an unsafe condition and quite frightening. I have appealed to the dealer who tells me this is normal. I have had the vehicle fishtail while on a slippery surface as a result of the unintended acceleration [ua]. I ask that Toyota find a way to fix this problem.
2010 Toyota Tacoma 6cyl. - when stopped at traffic lights and the heater or air conditioner is on, the truck lunges forward intermittently. When this happens, it feels like someone has hit me from behind. No one is there and the rpm gauge has gone from the normal 0. 5 rpms to 1 rpm on its own. I have been watching this problem and I find that it only happens when the heater or air conditioner is on. It does not happen when these components are off. Happened about 12 times now.
