1 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 12/05/2025

The power brake booster failed while driving with my 1 and 3 year old. Fortunately I was in a school zone with no traffic. This particular part is known to fail with Toyota's (recalled on a few models). The vehicle is 13 so Toyota will not back their product. The dealer charged $3,000. 00 for the repair. There were no warnings this was going to happen. The vehicle was bought brand new, and always well maintained. All work besides oil changes/new tires was completed at the dealership.

3 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 03/29/2020

Reporting problems with my 2013 Toyota Tacoma VIN 5tfju4gn6dx033258: although the vehicle has been very reliable otherwise, there are three significant problems I have had with my vehicle: 1. The vehicle can experience sudden acceleration, noted especially while idling. The set idle speed, which the dealer has told me conforms to manufacturer's guidelines, is very high, and when at a stop sign or other stop, it can suddenly lurch forward. The sudden acceleration, which may be linked to idling while the air conditioning is on, is very alarming. In one instance, linked to what I describe in item 2, I believe this was a contributor to a crash into my garage, causing considerable damage. 2. The floor mats, which were a manufacturer's accessory for the vehicle, can easily become detached from their eyelet hooks, and may then slip under the brake pedal. This was also a likely contributor to the accident described above. 3. The sun visor retaining bracket no longer works on the driver's side, and it no longer has the required tension to hold it up. The bracket assembly is a cheap plastic bracket. I'm sure Toyota can come up with some fix and change this for future models. Lambert p. Landry 1714 hounds rise street san antonio, TX 78248.

6 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 10/08/2016

2013 Tacoma, from parked position, started truck, release parking brake, foot on brake pedal, shifted to drive, accelerated, move about 5-10 feet truck acted as if brakes had been applied, would not move. I placed truck in park position shifted to drive and proceeded as normal. This happened two more times that same day about 20 minutes apart.

7 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 05/31/2015

What happens: the front anti-lock brakes independently actuate for approximately . 5-2. 5 seconds. When: turning left 90%, right 8% and forward 2% the most frequent is a left turn where the bank of the road is at a significant angle. It is terrifying on a mountain road to have your front end dive down and loose control. My nerves are on edge with every turn, wondering if the truck is going to do its dive. My girlfriend refuses to ride in the vehicle because of it. It started happening approximately a year ago and I had faith Toyota would come out with a fix. Toyota hasn't and there are numerous articles/complaints about the exact issue. It is a serious problem, especially on winding roads with oncoming traffic. And only a matter of time before something horrific happens. That one inexperienced driver that doesn't react quickly enough. Please put out the fix before the accident happens.

8 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 05/06/2015

Driving to work traveling at between 55-60 I was going around a slight curve my foot was on the accelorator and out of no where the abs or stability control or somthing caused my truck to slam on the breaks causing the front to dive down and a temporary loss of control. No crash just spooked. I drive the route every day the same way never had this happen before. The skid indicator was flashing but no noticable skid. I am sensitve to that feeling and there was none detected prior to this happening.

9 Service Brakes problem

The contact owns 2013 Toyota Tacoma. The contact stated that while driving approximately 20 mph making a right turn, the steering wheel became hard to maneuver and the tires made a dragging sound. The abs and traction control system warning lights illuminated. The failure recurred multiple times. The vehicle was towed to the dealer. The technician was unable to locate a problem. The manufacturer was notified of the failure informed the contact that the VIN was not included in recall NHTSA campaign number: 14v054000 (electronic stability control, service brakes, hydraulic). 10 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 08/01/2014

When braking between 45-65 mph, I can feel a strong shimmy ans shaking in the steering wheel. I have to let off the brakes or it feels like something is going to break in the drive train, steering column, or wheels are going to fall off. Its very scary and dangerous, especially when you might not be able to stop the vehicle. Ive asked the Toyota dealer to check it once and they didnt do anything to fix the problem. This is particularly unsafe when driving 95 or the turnpike, and you have to brake hard at times.

11 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 05/03/2014

I would like to submit a complaint to the administrator national highway traffic safety administration due to a recall on my Toyota Tacoma truck. I recently called a Toyota dealership (servco waipahu) and explained that two out of the 3 indicator lights noted on my safety recall letter came on while I was driving and did not turn off. Knowing that this was not a good sign, I moved to the side of the road and tried to turn off my car. In doing so, nothing happened. The indicator lights continued to illuminate. When I called, they were well aware of my recall issue however did not show any concern of the problem that I just stated. The service department told me that they were booked with cars and were unable to service my car until June 23. That is more than 50 days away. The note/recall letter mentions that the functions being inoperative "can increase the risk of a crash" and that if the lights do not turn off, I needed to call for "immediate" diagnosis and appropriate repair. In asking how serious was the issue, the lady could not help me nor did she try to get somebody on the phone. They mentioned that I could bring in my car and leave it for standy. She also mentioned that it could take a week. I would be without a car for a week. How do they expect me to go to work? I am frustrated because it is not my fault that my car is one of the many that are being recalled, so there should be at least something to help those that would be inconvenienced without a car. They did not offer anything. I know the update/recall will be without a charge however the amount of time people will be inconvenienced is not worth it. I was willing to take my car in since the light was on, however to not have it for a week or more, I dont know about that. Thank you for having such site to voice my concerns. I am about safety and customer service, and I dont feel I received that today!.

12 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 12/20/2013

The vehicle has extremely grabby brakes and I feel that they contributed to the loss of control I experienced on slippery road surfaces. As I attempted to gently slow down by applying the brakes I lost the back end of the vehicle resulting in a loss of control. The road conditions were not favorable, but I have driven may other vehicles in much worse conditions without experiencing this issue. I feel that probability of losing control of the vehicle would have been greatly reduced if the brakes were not grabby.

13 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 06/01/2013

Brand new vehicle experiencing a hard thumping noise that feels like the vehicle is being hit from behind when coming to a stop. This noise is felt throughout the vehicle and has been duplicated to Toyota. The thump is experienced going forward and reverse. First explanation from Toyota was that the drive shaft is binding under the pressure where it meets the slip yoke and then abruptly releasing that pressure. This thump feeling can be subtle or quite powerful. Any issues with the drive train can be dangerous to both the vehicle occupants, and the vehicles traveling behind said vehicle. Toyota engineers have been to the dealership and have not been able to determine a cause. I have spoken to other dealerships that state the Tacoma and 4runner are affected. After dropping off my vehicle many times, this issue has still not been resolved.

14 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 05/12/2013

It happened in a Sunday afternoon. I was driving my truck 2013 Toyota Tacoma (brand new less than a month). I had friends riding with me. I knew there is a stop sign and I saw the stop sign about several blocks away and lifted my right foot off the gas pedal. When I slightly applied my right foot on the brake pedal, my truck didn't even slow down a bit even though I pushed the brake pedal to the floor. My truck kept going like accelerating itself with big noise like vroooooooooom. I kept my foot on the brake and meanwhile shifted the stick from d to n to r to p just in split of a second. Everybody in my truck was scared because my truck almost reared into the car at the stop sign and my friends thought we were going to crush into the car in front of us. The dealer grounded the truck the next day after I reported the incident and promised to make a thorough service to this vehicle and find the problem.
