Tl the contact owns a 2017 Toyota Tacoma. The contact stated that the third brake light gasket failed. The contact stated that the brake light gasket was not sealed correctly causing water to enter the cabin of the vehicle. The contact stated that the rear seats also showed evidence of mold. The vehicle was taken to Toyota of bellingham (1100 iowa street, bellingham, washington, 98229, (360)-676 0600) to be inspected. The contact was informed that the brake light gasket and the interior carpet and seats needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and informed of the failure. The failure mileage was 20,000.
Leaking around 3rd brake light (rear of cab) began in spring 2020. Unfortunately, this is now out of the 36k warranty. Dealer refuses to repair due to my truck being at 53,000 miles.
The third brake lighting leaks water when raining/carwash this can generate a short circuit.
