I was driving on the highway when my vehicle suddenly lost power. The engine light and traction control light came on, and I lost power, and the engine started sputtering. I had to pull off to the side and put on hazards. My Tacoma would only drive about 25 mph after this happened. Based on a quick search, this is a very common problem in 3rd-generation Tacomas!.

2017 Toyota Tacoma double cab-v6 with 62k approx miles. On or around April 29th 2024, I was traveling in this truck when there was a sudden and complete loss of power, two check engine lights came on-the "trac off" light and the check engine light came on. I needed to pull over immediately for safety. I ended up driving the vehicle to the Toyota dealership in limp mode. The vehicle has sat at tustin Toyota now for weeks with the Toyota dealership initially suggesting that a acis flap broke off inside the intake manifold of the car. This was replaced and the vehicle is still providing the same alarms and still in limp mode. The initial fix(whihc did not fix the problem was a full replacement of the intake manifold). Now the dealer is suggesting that a piece(s) broke off the intake manifold and ended up inside the engine so now dealer is recommending and entire engine break down to attempt to further diagnose the situation. Again it looks to be a complete failuure of the acis system and the intake manifold. This problem has presented a extreme safety issue due to comp[lete loss for power initially then truck sits in limp mode. Very dangerous!.
Rear coolant bypass joint leak. This is a plastic defective pipe that has leaked on my truck and thousands of others! the dealership wants 2000 dollars to repair their cheap mistake! I have pictures and invoice to upload, but the site will not allow it.

It has been well established among 2016 and up Toyota Tacoma owners and clubs that the rear coolant bypass joint leaks at different mileages, if the loss of coolant happens rapidly enough the engine could overheat and siez up and cause the pistions to weld to the cylinders along with causing extensive engine damage not to mention how the driver would handel the truck, Toyota dealerships and manufacture also know of this coolant bypass joint leak and how common it is. Also the corrosive build up from the antifreeze will cause other parts and wires to not work, attached is my part and the build up of antifreez before the leak,.

2017 Toyota Tacoma 2gr-fks (v6) motor failure at 110,000 miles. Cylinder #5 & 6 misfire codes thrown after nominal driving conditions on the interstate. After stopping at a gas station, I attempted to restart the truck. Truck would not idle and was not drive-able. The motor had new spark plugs and a new crankshaft position sensor. Truck was towed to a Toyota dealership, who diagnosed the problem as being zero compression on cylinder #5 & 6. New motor needed :(.

My truck makes a loud thud sound when accelerating from a dead stop, slowing down to a dead stop, and slowing down fast from higher speeds from 70-25. This happens multiple times a day. I'm fearing for my life and am not in financial position to get another car. Please look into this quickly. Thank you.
Engine boggs down loses rpm's during driving of vehicle on hwy and streets.
I bought a Toyota Tacoma thinking I was purchasing a rough tuff truck. It is by far the weakest truck/car I have ever driven. It has no power, cannot pull more than an inflatable raft, down shifts if a butterfly flies in front of the truck. Gas mileage is pathetic, my kids 2004 Ford ranger has twice the power and can carry and tow three times as much as the Toyota. The truck is pathetic! shame on you for selling me such a weak shameful truck.
2017 Toyota Tacoma. Consumer writes in regards to defective heat blower. The consumer was informed that the failure was due to a rodent nest and debris. The engine, transmission, and dashboard had to be removed. Also, the main engine wiring harness needed to be replaced.
Transmission constant hunting/ shifting.
My 2017 truck was recalled and I am currently driving a rental. They my truck might take up to 8 weeks to fix, its been close to 4 weeks so far. I use my truck for work and am currently losing wages because I don't have the truck. Why do I need to make monthly payments for the truck I don't have? the rental is not usable of my work and the defect in truck was not my fault. I don't see why I should pay for something I don't have. I have asked the dealership about this matter and they said to continue payments because I am using a free rental. Thank you for your time and look forward to hearing from you soon.
Noticing that as I come to a stop at the last second the drivetrain seems to snap out of gear causing a very loud clunk at this point the vehicle seems to free wheel forward unsafely. . The jolt you get can be compared to putting the vehicle into gear at too high of an idol, which will cause premature wear and tear to your drivetrain. Also, the engine seems to surge at idol while in gear and if you aren't ready for it and you are parking behind something, you run the risk of hitting it. . I have addressed the drivetrain issue with the dealer, but they say they can't get this to happen for them. Very interesting considering there seems to be others with similar issues.
While driving my Tacoma at freeway speed, I accidentally hit the gearshift forward into neutral. This caused the engine to shut off, losing power assist to the steering, braking, etc. Every warning light on the dash began to flash including low oil pressure, high trans temp, etc. I also recreated this problem at a later time (after I figured out what had happened) and it was the same result--the trucks motor died when shifted into neutral causing a very dangerous situation for an inexperienced driver.
