After a couple of years of owning my truck, the paint started on my hood and roof started to turn white and fade. I don’t understand why Toyota uses this type of paint that’s going to get messed up after a couple of years. Also after 4 years of owning the truck, the suspension is all messed up (never took the truck off road or driven it anywhere else but the streets and now they make noises like crazy.
When I go to accelerate at low speed my vehicle shudders shakes and vibrates, no engine lights or codes have popped up, the issue is somewhere from transmission to the rear end. Im guessing transmission or torque converter. With my vehicle only having 136,000 miles and is well taken care of this is ridiculous, I have checked drive line and tires and everything seems to be working as it should so it has to be something internal.
Started noticing vibration on smooth roads a few weeks ago, as if tires were misaligned. Independent service center was able to reproduce the problem and found both rear shocks were cracked, with fluid leaking. Vehicle has not been inspected by anyone else, has not been repaired yet (but parts are being ordered), and is available for inspection. No warning lamps or messages appeared. This vehicle has not been driven off-road, only on smooth roads and highways.
Hitachi shocks can't handle dampening requirements causing the tires to lose contact with the roadway - reducing traction, braking ability, and stability. My 10 year old son can collapse the shock with 1 hand - never mind a vehicle that weighs 4,000+ lbs. If there is any type of load - when hitting a bump the truck bounces down the road - where you must be extremely careful to keep the truck tracking straight. This is most severe on the highway. None of the vehicles we have owned in the past 30 years exhibited this severe suspension short fall. The only time you may experience this is after something in the suspension has failed or worn out. Not on a vehicle with under 30k miles on it.
After shifting into reverse from park and start backing up there is a clunk noise from under the the vehicle and clunk happens again once you brake in reverse. Vehicle inconsistently shifts while driving at normal city speed limits.
