1 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 02/25/2025

I have the exact same issues as the big recall done with the Toyotas for the brake master cylinder. My Tacoma is leaking brake fluid from the inside of the cabin! I contacted Toyota showed the pictures and evidence, I have the exact same issue as all the other trucks with the recall, Toyota refused to help me fix my truck, even tho everything is exactly the same. They argued that because the date my truck was assembled is why they wouldn’t help. They cannot track which parts are used for which dates! it’s not fair, they know this is a huge problem which is why they had a large recall for the Tacomas. My truck barely had 55k miles on it, I shouldn’t be having brake master cylinder issues at this mileage, it’s a 2019, it’s way too new for these problems! this should be covered under the recall. It’s a faulty seal from the inside of the brake master cylinder. Toyota refuses to help or fix it. This is a severe safety issue and concern, I could have crashed or killed myself. My warranty just expired in December. This master cylinder is only made by Toyota and it’s a $1600 part. This should all be covered by Toyota under the recall for safety! this is now going to cost me around $2,000 to fix out of my pocket, all for my own safety. My truck sat for 2-3 weeks waiting for Toyota all for them to deny helping me.

2 Service Brakes problem

3 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 08/05/2024

Brake fluid leaking into the cab floor of 2019 Toyota Tacoma. VIN not listed on NHTSA list. Toyota refuses to believe this is the same issue as recall, as per yemi at 10:48am on sept 18, 2024 Toyota corporate call 1-800-331-4331. Brake master cylinder diagnosed by independent, non-bias mechanic "diagnosed brake fluid seeping through dust seal inside cabin running down shaft connecting the pedal to assembly, fluid is of consistency of the brake fluid required by system, fluid level is low at this time, if pedal is pumped 5 times and held down there is visible drip from the rod to pedal connection, needs master cyl. Assembly and exhibits same issues and description of fault as set forth in the recall notice. Customer advised to seek manufacturer assistance. " previous examination by local Toyota dealer was fluid leaking from steering column.

4 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 03/06/2024

Approximately 100 feet from the vehicle, I rear end of the car in front of me. When I hit the brake pedal it didn’t seem like it stopped the vehicle I ran into another car and totaled the Toyota Tacoma. Conditions for dry and cloudy and road construction nearby.

5 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 02/01/2024

Leaking of brake fluid from brake master cylinder into driver footwell.

6 Service Brakes problem

Break master cylinder leaking.

7 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 10/25/2023

Brake fluid leaking into driver-side floorboard. Due to leak in brake master cylinder seal. Recalls have been issued for same year and model, but my truck is not included. I assume mine has a different manufacturing date. Yet my truck has the same problem as those with the recall.

8 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 08/24/2023

When driving the vehicle to work - the brakes failed and the emergency brake had to be used to bring the vehicle to a complete stop. The vehicle had to be towed to a Toyota dealership where it was diagnosed that the master brake cylinder needs to be replaced.

9 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 03/18/2023

I was at a stop light and when the light turn green I started driving forward and the abs/ brake lights on instrument cluster came on with repeated blinking. I slowed off the gas to apply the brakes. Brake pedal went to the floor with no brakes or slowing down at all. Luckily no one was in front of me and I had to pull the emergency brake. It was the only brakes I had at all. Once vehicle was towed to the nearest Toyota dealer I had them diagnose the problem. Right rear wheel had leaked out fluid due to the rear brake cylinder failing. Upon repair of all brake pads, rotors, brake shoes, brake drums, both rear brake cylinders the problem was still an issue. Costly amounts of money already being spent to find out another failure with the brake master cylinder/ module. That part alone is also very expensive. Research has shown that the 2018 and 2019 Toyota Tacoma’s did have history of faulty brakes in turn possibly causing an accident. For my case on the road I was lucky. I can’t understand a loyal customer of years with Toyota that the company refuses any sort of aid and assistance in the matter. Why did the recalls end? especially if this affected not just the 2018 model but the 2019 model like my Tacoma as well. For such low miles and no abuse this vehicle has faced other failures not only with the brakes alone. Vehicle is still with the dealer at this time. Requesting some assistance in the matter please. Thank you!.

11 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 12/28/2022

The contact owns a 2019 Toyota Tacoma. The contact stated while his wife was driving 30 mph and depressing the brake pedal, the vehicle failed to immediately stop. The driver stated that the oil service warning light was illuminated. The driver pumped the brake pedal forcefully to the floor to stop the vehicle. The driver was able to continue driving to her destination. The contact called the local dealer and made them aware of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. 12 Service Brakes problem

Brake fluid leaking from master cylinder through the firewall back inside the cab and down the brake pedal. Appears it has a defective seal in the master cylinder. Brake pedal seems harder than normal.

13 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 12/16/2022

My car while driving every so often miles will have the abs light go on with the traction control light and the amb symbol going off. When plugged into device at auto zone code c1422 stating the master cylinder pressure sensor zero point high. I’ve tried replacing the break light switch which is a common repair for people with that problem I’ve checked all harness and wiring all is intact and undamaged/ no water damage. When I look up my VIN number in kellybluebooks website a recall appears for a brake master cylinder recall for improper machining of the brake master master cylinder. Which will cause internal damage of one of the seals, affecting brake performance. It affected 44121 of vehicles of my year. But when looked up in this website and Toyota no recalls appear which is strange. The defect it has when the abs light and etc. Lights go off is it will force the car to stop moving by locking the brake system and smoking out the calipers till brought to 0mph which is very dangerous when operating in the freeway as cars behind my aren’t expecting a sudden stop. The repair is to replace the whole master cylinder. Which Toyota would want me to pay but it should be a defect from a recall.

14 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 07/30/2022

Took my car for regular maintenance and they did tire rotation and etc after that the car was driving kind of off now its just acting up started shaking and jerks like shutters and stuff feels vrry unsafe.

15 Service Brakes problem

16 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 03/29/2021

Multiple occurances - 2019 Tacoma 42xxx miles and on the 3rd issue of warping front rotors. Vehicle is highway driven primarily and rotors warp and cause shaking while braking at or around 3000 miles after having them cut or replaced. Shaking is violent when slowing from 65-70mph and lightly present durring city driving. This issue was also a problem on my previous 2019 Tacoma, my 2018 Toyota chr, and my 2014 Toyota corolla leading me to believe this is not a model specific issue. On past vehicle the concern was resolved by switching to a non oem rotor. Every Toyota I have driven that was 20110 or newer also has a heavy front bias to its brake pressure distribution which is more thank likely a key component to the cause of this ongoing concern.

17 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 03/04/2021

Vehicle stops as expected with normal braking action. While sitting stopped with engine running applying pressure to brake pedal results in brake pedal going almost to the floor ~ seems like the brake pressure is "bleeding off" from the system. In this situation - brake pedal almost to floor - the vehicle does not move. Took vehicle to dealer and they said this was "normal" ~ never had this situation in any other vehicle I have owned or driven. In all other vehicles I have driven when the brake is pressed, sopping the vehicle, and with constant pressure on the brake pedal, the pedal does not slowly go down to almost the floor.

18 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 12/31/2020

My 2019 Tacoma 4x4 dbl cab sr5 has 22000 miles on it and has a history of the brakes pulsing. The dealer has replaced both front and rear brakes at 5k and 11k miles, and now again at 22k miles. At each service appointment I complained that the brakes pulse badly, and they confirm that the rotors and back drums are warped. So they replace the rotors & drums, and the problem is relieved for a time, but the pulsing comes back within a few thousand miles. I keep telling the service people that there must be a different problem causing the brakes to warp but they just shrug it off.

19 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 06/25/2020

Two days ago I felt slightly softer brake pedal on normal driving. Yesterday, 6/25/20, I was traveling in a 60 mph speed zone approaching a traffic light. Light turned yellow and I attempted to slow and stop. I immediately noticed the brake pedal went very soft and could be pushed almost to floor with very little braking effect. Stopped about two feet into the intersection. Continued trip with caution and soft and abnormal braking capability. Calling Toyota today.

20 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 03/04/2020

In the 3 or so months I have had the vehicle, I have experienced several instances of intermittent braking issues. When coming to an unexpected or urgent stop, the brake pedal feels like it cannot be depressed any further and increased pressure to the pedal does not increase stopping power. I am an athletic male weighing 205 pounds (point of reference for you on how much pressure I am able to apply). Having owned dozens of cars over 35 years, I have never experienced anything like this. The closest I can describe the issue to any of my experiences would be this: it feels very similar to using a brake on a vehicle that has power brakes when the engine is not running and there is a loss of vacuum to the system. At first, there is initial vacuum assist, but after a moment, incredible pressure is needed to stop the vehicle. I view this as an urgent and important issue. So much so, that I want to get rid of the vehicle for the safety of myself and others. Since the problem is intermittent, I don't know if the dealer can help. I will bring it to them for a check-up as a precaution though. I have tried to replicate the issue in abandoned parking lots, but have yet been unable to do so. There have been at least 3 incidents where this has occurred to me in the 4,000 miles I have driven the truck. I bought the vehicle new and followed the break-in procedures outlined in the manual. It had clear instructions to avoid hard stops, which I was careful to do.

21 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 02/23/2020

Failure Date: 01/02/2020

I was drivin in the highway 65 m/h and I was using the cruise control, just as it passed through the ezpass toll booth the pre-collision system activated and brake abruptly,I also feel that when you drive about 60 miles per hour you apply the brake I feel small vibrations in the car and finally the 4x4 control knob is close to the fan knob and by mistake I connected the 4x4 when I want to turn on the fan I think it should have something like security to not be connected so easily.

26 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 11/07/2019

On entering an intersection the vehicle applied brakes automatically and without warning. At that time the path forward of the vehicle was clear. This action caused a safety hazard by stalling the vehicle in the intersection. Applying gas resulted in no forward movement. Oncoming traffic had to stop abruptly to avoid a collision with my vehicle. I have been to the Toyota dealership two times to have this repaired to no avail. The last communication from Toyota concerning my complaint was a phone call from a factory rep advising me that I needed to read my owners manual regarding this issue. At this point I an afraid to drive the vehicle. Please help. Nhtsa ref# 247577.

27 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 09/20/2019

Vehicle was driven by wife. She was pulling into a parking spot at 90 degrees, she was braking, and the vehicle failed to stop. She hit a concrete support for a light pole. The passenger side front was damaged, air bags did not deploy, twice while I was driving the vehicle, the "brake!" flashed on the dash info center. Both times I was coming to a stop behind vehicles coming to a stop. We contacted the dealership and Toyota costumer care, who had an independent source evaluate the "black box:. The data was collected and given to Toyota, who informed us that it can take 30 days for an outcome. Toyota will not say if the vehicle is safe to drive, it is up to us if we want to drive it. Toyota will not provide us alternate transportation, as per Toyota assistance pert of the vehicle warranty. So at this time I cannot drive my new, 5000 miles, truck and not provided alternative transportation.

28 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 08/08/2019

Hi, I have been experiencing issues with my brakes for a few months now. This is a very new truck with about 6200 miles on it. When I go to bake, it feels very spongy. About half of the times that I press on the brake, I feel like my brake pedal goes almost 75% to the floor. I am worried about my safety, as I feel that I won't be able to stop in time if I needed to.

31 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 06/13/2019

32 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 05/15/2019

Cruise control slams on brakes, when in opposing lane of another car. On the same side of the road, on the interstate at, 70 miles an hour, then the cruise control, floors the throttle to around, 5,000 rpm's. Then the driveshaft has vibration, around 44 - 45miles an hour, also vibrates in certain rpm ranges. Which franklin Toyota, gladly told me, it's just a characteristic of the truck. When I know that it's not, another thing truck sometimes gets stuck in certain rpm ranges, like 3,000 rpms, at 55 miles an hour, then when you go up a hill, it feels like transmission is slipping only have 1,800 miles on it, this truck sucks terribly, OH and the driver's side window, gas developed, a rattle after about 1600 miles, not too happy with my purchase, feel like I got ripped off. Will never buy another Toyota. And the best part I'm paying 35,000 $ over a 6 year period for this piece of junk. Toyota it seems makes nothing but clunkers.

34 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 04/01/2019

After purchasing a 2019 Tacoma trd off-road it developed a rubbing noise. My first two complaints were brushed off. On my third complaint I was informed of a TSB related to bad axles. The TSB doesn't pertain to the trd trims but only the sr5 and lower. The axles have been replaced twice and still have noise. The truck has been in the shop since they started repairs. The third axle has been ordered. The mechanics from Toyota stated that it usually takes about 6 new axles until the problem is corrected. Noise was only noted at low speeds.
