1 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 08/09/2026

The interior driver's-side door handle assembly on my 2025 Toyota Tacoma failed during normal use while attempting to open the door from inside the vehicle. There was no excessive force, impact, accident, or other damage that caused the failure. There were no warning lights, messages, or noticeable symptoms prior to the handle failing. The failure creates a safety concern because the driver's door can no longer be opened normally from inside the vehicle using the interior door handle. In an emergency where rapid exit from the vehicle was necessary, such as a collision or vehicle fire, the inability to use the driver's interior door release could delay or prevent the driver from exiting through that door. The vehicle was brought to an authorized Toyota dealership, which inspected and confirmed the failed interior door handle assembly. The dealership determined that the assembly requires replacement and is covering the repair under the Toyota factory warranty. The replacement assembly has been ordered; however, I was informed that the part is currently on backorder with no estimated date of availability. The failed component remains installed in the vehicle and is available for inspection if requested. The vehicle remains in use while awaiting the replacement part. I am submitting this complaint because the failure involves the mechanism used to exit the vehicle and therefore appears to present a potential safety issue rather than simply a cosmetic or convenience-related defect.

2 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 08/09/2026

The driver side inner door handle mechanism has broken. The part is on back order with no e. T. A. (from my local Toyota dealership). I can't easily exit my vehicle in an emergency.

3 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 08/07/2026

The driver back passenger door stopped opening from the inside. Upon further inspection the mechanism inside the door is broken. The plastic housing snapped. This results in a safety risk in case of an emergency. The door can be opened fine from the outside.

4 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 07/20/2026

Front passenger interior door handle is a fragile component. Mine failed with little to no force where the cable disconnects from the handle. It has rendered the ability to exit the vehicle via the handle impossible, and passenger must roll down window and reach for the exterior handle to exit. I’ve had my vehicle at the dealer, and being sent back with vehicle not fixed due to parts being on backorder. No eta is able to be provided.

5 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 06/23/2026

The interior driver-side door handle/release mechanism on my 2025 sr5 Toyota Tacoma failed without warning. The vehicle has low mileage and was being used normally. When attempting to open the driver door from the inside using ordinary force, an internal component appears to have detached or broken, leaving the interior handle completely inoperative. The handle simply hangs loose. Vehicle and failed component are available for inspection. This defect creates a significant safety risk because I cannot exit the vehicle through the driver door from inside the cabin. The only way to exit is to roll down the window, reach backward, and pull the exterior door handle. This requires an awkward twisting motion and causes shoulder pain. In an emergency such as a crash, fire, or water intrusion event, my ability to quickly exit the vehicle could be compromised. The defect also affects my ability to care for my young son, who has a medical condition and may require immediate assistance or rescue medication. If an emergency occurred while driving, I could be delayed in reaching him because I cannot promptly exit through the driver door as designed. A Toyota dealership inspected the vehicle and confirmed the failed interior door handle mechanism. However, the replacement part is on national backorder and unavailable. I was informed repairs will likely take more than a month and that the waiting list reportedly exceeds 2,000 vehicles. Numerous Tacoma owners have reported the same failure, suggesting a widespread defect. Despite reports of widespread failures and lengthy repair delays, there has been no recall, service campaign, or proactive communication from Toyota warning owners of the defect or providing guidance while awaiting repairs. There were no warning lights, messages, or advance symptoms before the failure. The handle functioned normally until it suddenly stopped working during routine use. The defect occurred without misuse, excessive force, collision, or damage.

6 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 06/17/2026

The driver side interior door handle fails to open the door. The only way to exit the vehicle from the driver seat is to roll the window down and use the exterior door handle. This causes and entrapment issue.

7 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 06/15/2026

The driver side inner door handle does not work. This is a huge safety issue because you can only open the door by rolling down the window and pulling the outer driver side door handle. I took the truck to the dealer and the part to fix it is on back order with no known date when they will get it. I am now forced to drive an un safe vehicle for who knows how long. This is a common issue with the 2024-2025 Tacomas and needs addressed.

8 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 05/15/2026

Interior drivers side door handle broken. I thought it was the locking mechanism having issues and I had to hold the locking plastic tab in the unlock position to open the door from the inside. After the 3rd time exiting my Tacoma the door handle snapped. Now I how to open the door from the outside by rolling down the window, making it inconvenient in the rain.

9 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 04/08/2026

Driver's side interior door handle mechanism broke during normal usage at 8 months/6,300 miles. Breakage occured within the door panel, leaving a non-functioning handle. After breakage, the door cannot be opened from the inside of the vehicle and the occupant cannot easily exit the vehicle.

10 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 11/29/2025

The vehicle is a 2025 Toyota Tacoma trd off-road subject to safety recall 25ta11 involving the front axle shafts potentially breaking. The manufacturer has confirmed the recall and that a remedy is not yet available. The vehicle has been at a Toyota dealership and out of service for an extended period while waiting for a repair solution. The dealer has confirmed that no repair can currently be performed because Toyota has not released a remedy. This defect creates a safety concern because a front axle shaft failure could result in loss of drive power and potential loss of vehicle control while driving. The problem has been confirmed by the dealership and manufacturer through the active safety recall notice. No warning lights or prior symptoms were observed before the recall notification. The vehicle is currently available for inspection at the Toyota dealership upon request.

You can copy and paste this link into your browser if its not click able, to see video of the event! I got pieces of glass into my eyes [xxx] video of the event ?? this is what I sent to Toyota and the dealer Toyota of pharr, as I get ready to take it in for repair but they told me to make a claim on my insurance, when it was literally a defect with the glass warranty claim – defective sunroof shattering (2025 trd pro) to whom it may concern, I am the owner of a 2025 Toyota trd pro currently under the new vehicle limited warranty. While driving, the sunroof on my vehicle shattered spontaneously without any external impact. I have video evidence clearly showing the glass cracking, with no rock strikes or other outside causes. This failure I feel is a defect in materials, not outside damage, and therefore falls squarely under Toyota’s new vehicle limited warranty. The warranty specifically excludes glass damage only when caused by external objects; it does not exclude spontaneous failures like this one. For my safety and the integrity of the vehicle, I am requesting that this repair be processed under warranty without delay. I’m risking water to enter the vehicle which will cause more damage. Please document and submit this claim to Toyota corporate. I also feel I need to help the public of future Tacoma trd pro buyers and owners and file a formal defect complaint with NHTSA, as this type of spontaneous glass failure represents a significant safety concern. I respectfully request written confirmation that this will be covered under warranty and ask that you proceed with the repair promptly. Thank you for your immediate attention to this matter. 13 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 08/30/2025

I think it’s a serious safety issue for Toyota not to include a trailer brake controller or at least a connector to install an aftermarket trailer brake controller on my truck. This has been mentioned numerous times by customers. My truck is rated to tow 6,400 with no way to add a trailer brake controller. I don’t see how Toyota can legally sell this truck without at least giving an option to install an aftermarket controller, even though Toyota doesn’t recommend it.

14 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 06/17/2025

The xm radio fades out when ever you go under a tree and on its own when going down the road. It says that it is trying to locate a satellite! the dealership has replaced the radio and the antenna and checked the antenna cable, with no improvement! they said that they can’t do anything else about the radio problem. Toyota said to file a complaint with NHTSA. Toyota's case number is 250707000269. The truck is 3 weeks old! with 453 miles on it.
