1 Blind Spot Detection problem of the 2024 Toyota Tacoma

Failure Date: 03/25/2026

What component failed?? the rear brake system (rotors and pads) and the components associated with safety recall 25ta04 (rear brake hoses). The parts are available for inspection. * how was safety put at risk? ?the dealer (island Toyota, st. Croix) labeled my 2024 Tacoma "unsafe to drive" on invoice #[xxx] but refused to perform the federal safety recall (25ta04) for rear brake hoses unless I paid for an $800 brake job first. This violates federal law by making a safety recall conditional on customer-paid maintenance. I am currently driving a vehicle the dealer documented as "unsafe" because they withheld the free safety remedy. * has the problem been confirmed?? yes, the dealer confirmed the rear brakes are failed but refused the recall and the 36,000-mile warranty claim. * has it been inspected by others?? not yet. However, the dealer’s technician failed to record actual millimeter measurements for the pads or rotors on the official invoice. * warning lamps or symptoms?? metal on metal grinding noise from the rear brakes. No warning lamps appeared prior to the failure. * additional note on records:? the dealer falsified my service records on line c (recall 25tc07), claiming I was "unwilling to wait" for a repair that was never even mentioned to me. The dealer also claims I denied service on line b, but what actually happened is I refused to pay $800 for a premature brake failure that should be covered by my 36,000 mile warranty or as consequential damage from the recall. The dealer then used my refusal to pay for pads as an excuse to withhold the federal safety recall (25ta04). I never denied the safety repair I denied a bill for a factory defect. I have uploaded photos of both rear wheels. The left side is healthy, but the right side is completely destroyed with deep scoring. This uneven wear at only 34,613 miles proves this is a manufacturing defect, not my driving style. Nformation redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

More concerning is that it was recommended I replace the power steering lines at a cost of $927 and the transmission lines at a cost of $797 due to severe rusting and corrosion. 7 Blind Spot Detection problem of the 2021 Toyota Tacoma

Failure Date: 10/31/2021

I buy a Toyota Tacoma 2021 on 5 of June 2021 in Toyota walnut creek California. And I have to sell it again on 15 November 2021 5 months later. Ok I was driving in a long trip of 9hrs. And I adjust the seat to be comfortable to drive but I notice that when I was looking to the front right side the mirror in the center to look to the back was in the way of my view, and I drive , moving my head down to look under the mirrorevery time when I look to the right front. A the end of the trip I get tired driving that way. Next time I was driving in oakland CA. I was in a stop waiting to turn to the left side in a road, and the cars in the other side in front of me the put me the high beams, and I was thinking they give me the pass, and I look around to drive, and right away 3 persons was in front of me, and thanks to god I don’t drive over and kill them. And I get very mad frustrated , I was ready to break the mirror with my right hand, but I control my self and don’t do it. That was when I notice the mirror and the black spot is in the mirrow is a very bad location, that take lot of view to the front right side, they need to relocated all the sensors are in that area. I sold the truck no because I can’t drive it eny more. I call Toyota I they. Don’t pat attention.

8 Blind Spot Detection problem of the 2018 Toyota Tacoma

Failure Date: 07/31/2021

2018 Toyota Tacoma problem. I purchased the truck in October of 2018. On July 31, 2021 @ 3:50 pm while driving home I was in cruise control @ 82 mph when the display showed malfunction. The truck went from 82 mph to 60 within seconds again. A car behind me was able to change lanes to avoid an accident. The trucks display readings were malfunction of headlight, radar cruise control unavailable & lane departure alert malfunction and visit the dealer. After getting home I shut the truck off and restarted it. The malfunctions had cleared again. I made an appointment with the dealership for August 5, 2021. They worked with Toyota representatives to trying to solve the problem but couldn’t identify it. The conclusion was when it happens again bring it to the dealership (if possible) before shutting it off so they can do a diagnostic test while the truck is still running and showing the malfunction display. Luckily, when it occurred I was on a road with every little traffic. My problem now is that I don’t trust driving it using cruise control in normal traffic or at night not knowing if the headlights will shut off or the cruise control will shut down. This is the second time this has occur. The first time was in Aug 2019. I took to the dealer but they couldn’t identify the problem. My thought at the time was it may have been a one time event but it was not. I have pictures of the truck’s displaying the malfunctions on both events.

The contact owns a 2021 Toyota Tacoma. The contact stated that while driving at unknown speeds, the brake message and alarm were displayed on the infotainment screen. While driving, the blind spot warning light illuminated, and the brake seized. The contact stated that the vehicle was pulling to the left. While driving and depressing the brake pedal, the vehicle was slow to respond. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, who was unable to duplicate the failure, but the contact was informed there was a code for a caliper malfunction. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted, and a case was started; however, no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 1,200.

11 Blind Spot Detection problem of the 2019 Toyota Tacoma

Failure Date: 12/01/2020

When applying the power brakes at a stop the pedal after a few seconds starts to fade to the floor if released and reapplied they come back up to stop position and will fade again. When backing up and brakes are applied and backing slowly to house garage the brake starts to fade to the floor and has to be reapplied to stop the truck. Yesterday in a shopping mall I had to go around a parked car with another car headed in my direction had to apply brakes and slowly move past the parked car the pedal went so far down my foot hit the accelerator and had to take my foot off the brake pedal and reapply the brakes. Had truck back to Toyota dealer twice and they insist there is no problem with the truck. If you have ever driven an older car where the master cylinder fails that is exactly what it feels like, having that experience once in my driving career of over 60 years/ the truck to me is not a safe vehicle to drive and am concerned for myself and my wifes safety. Called customer service 1-800 number and was told nothing they can do if service dept said no problem with the truck, looking for some solution I see others have posted the same problem on your web site. Thank you .
