2 Side/rear Glass problem of the 2008 Toyota Tacoma

Failure Date: 11/01/2008

Rain water/drops on door window and mirror glass (also condensation on mirror glass) accumulates and does not clear off (it just sits there) when driving; there doesn't appear to be any air movement across the glass to move the water/droplets. The reduced visibility to the passenger's side mirror makes for a very real hazard when trying to merge or change traffic lanes. This is only an issue during non-daylight hours when there are no street lights to illuminate the roadways and to provide easier visibility to the side mirror. .

3 Side/rear Glass problem of the 1998 Toyota Tacoma

Failure Date: 08/05/2008

The contact owns a 1998 Toyota Tacoma. The contact stated that the frame was corroding on her vehicle. Her husband noticed that several Tacoma owners were experiencing the same failure and decided to have the vehicle inspected by the dealer. The dealer performed a frame inspection and stated that it was okay at that time. The west inspection station informed the contact's husband that his frame was in bad shape for the past couple of years; therefore, the contact was skeptical about the dealer's diagnosis. The manufacturer has not been consulted. The current mileage was 111,467 and failure mileage was approximately 111,400. Updated 09/23/08 the also stated the window would not roll up. Updated 10/01/08.

4 Side/rear Glass problem of the 2004 Toyota Tacoma

Failure Date: 12/04/2003

This is a safety concern on my 2004 Toyota Tacoma double cab v6, 4x4 truck. The exterior mirrors on both sides fog up so bad in cold weather they become virtually useless. Toyota does not offer a heated mirror option on the truck. At several times driving in inclement weather I've been forced to pull off the side of the road to try to clear the mirrors, to no avail. They would just fog up again, once I got underway. The condition is different then starting out after the truck has sat outside overnight in the cold. The mirrors might clear for a while then, while underway, fog up for no apparent reason. Toyota says don't drive in that kind of weather. Not a good remedy. The truck is brand new and Toyota says I have no recourse, that it has met all of the safety standards required by the government. Driving blind at night, to me, is not an option. I drive approximately 30,000 miles per year and have never driven an automobile with a mirror problem like this. It's a serious safety concern in my opinion and should be addressed by Toyota. I registered my complaint with the company by phone and by email. I have received no response from my local dealer or Toyota to any of my email complaints.
