Vehicle Speed Control problem #1

Approaching a round about at a slow rate of speed, prior to entering I noticed there was time to safely enter the round about ahead of a car also entering the roundabout from another direction. I pushed the accelerator pedal to about 30% at the time I choose to enter the traffic circle and attempted to enter. The truck did nothing in response except keep rolling forward due to the momentum I already had while approaching the round about / traffic circle. After about 2 seconds, I pressed the pedal to about 70%. This still did nothing for about another 1 second, before the truck accelerated as if I had pressed the pedal to 70% from a stop. Fast acceleration into the round about which caused a narrow miss between me and the original car mentioned that was also entering the traffic circle.

Vehicle Speed Control problem #2

Very commonly when the truck is “cold” after sitting overnight, the truck fails to accelerate from a stop while pushing the accelerator pedal down gradually (such as when leaving a stop sign at an intersection. This lack of acceleration makes me feel a loss of control as I cannot get the truck to accelerate. For example, driving out of my neighborhood into oncoming road traffic I feel as if the truck doesn’t sense my pedal input. The truck just “floats” for at least a few seconds before the pedal reaches a point where the truck recognizes the input and activates acceleration. I can see this situation causing a safety hazard such as when trying to gain speed from a stop. The dealerships says it’s a non-issue and normal for a turbo-charged engine. I have owned cars with turbo-charged engines and have never experienced this bad of lag before. I don’t feel this is normal. My truck currently has no engine issues and is maintained routinely.

Vehicle Speed Control problem #3

Throttle body was replaced, no dealer advice to replace driving down the road all of a sudden my vehicle went from highway speeds to limp mode on the middle of the highway and a whole bunch of warnings came on secondary brake system failure, hybrid control failure , stoped on the side of road truck stalled then restarted normal then all warnings came back and back to limp mode, problem comfirmed by dealer in el paso almost 300 miles away from home, not sure who the dealer showed to , and no prior warnings at all before this happend at 51k miles on my 2024 Toyota Tundra.

Vehicle Speed Control problem #4

I am an automotive engineer. I have been involved with vehicle development programs in the disabled vehicle conversion community for over two decades and have numerous patents in that space. I have been involved with vehicle testing and calibration as well. My vehicle demonstrates a significant hesitation when the accelerator is pressed that is not consistent. I live in a roundabout dense location where timing an entry into a roundabout is easy using a normal vehicle. The 1 to 2 second hesitation where there is throttle input and no action at all from the vehicle (engine does not rev, no motive power observed) is very dangerous. I took this up with Toyota and my vehicle was checked out and "learning transmission" memory was wiped clean with me being the only driver was the remedy. The issue got better for a short time but is back and this morning I pulled out thinking there was plenty of time in front of a bus a good distance away and the lack of motive power for a full second or two resulted in a near miss. This vehicle has about 20,000 miles and was purchased by me new. There are no warning lamps, and no dtcs thrown when this happens. I have seen several videos where people cite the same experience and a website where there is a class action lawsuit in place regarding this issue. This is completely separate from the engine recall issue. I feel as though this issue is a significant safety risk.

Vehicle Speed Control problem #5

The engine repair was a short block only, even thoe the main bearings spun and sent debis threw the engine. #1 rod went as well. Apon recieving the truck back, with in 200 miles, I've had the same hesitation with the engines as I had just before the first engine failed. Took it by the dealer and no issues found. Oil preasure stays up and temp normal. I've had many issue with throtle lag sence day one. The milage has stayed in the low 11 gpm when before I would get on average 14 to 16. Dealer stated Toyota would make it right if the engine fails again. Very unhappy with Toyota as I feel they are just kicking the can down the road.

Vehicle Speed Control problem #6

When pulling out turning left across a busy street, my vehicle did not accelerate when I pressed the gas pedal for approximately one second. While only a short time, this was enough time to roll into the middle of traffic, but not get out of the way. This throttle hesitation/delay happened twice more in the same trip.

Vehicle Speed Control problem #7

After a complete stop vehicle acceleration lags when pressing accelerator.

Vehicle Speed Control problem #8

The vehicle experiences throttle lag from stop or when rapidly accelerating from one speed to another(passing on highway or merging on interstate). Pushing on the gas pedal does not receive an immediate response from the engine. Issue comes up when accelerating from a stop sign or merging/overtaking.

Vehicle Speed Control problem #9

My 2024 Tundra has a throttle delay at times. When you go to accelerate quickly there is a second where the throttle cuts out and the truck stalls. This has almost caused me to get in multiple accidents.

Vehicle Speed Control problem #10

At a stop, there is a delay when accelerating. It almost feels like it is "thinking" before it starts to go. There are no warning lamps. It is unsafe when pulling out of highway because of the uncertainty of when the vehicle feels like its going to go. Some call it turbolag but it feels more than that.

Vehicle Speed Control problem #11

I am experiencing an ongoing issue since the truck was new: the engine hesitates upon acceleration at any speed. When stopped this lag in throttle response makes it difficult to navigate in heavy or unpredictable traffic as the vehicle does not response to the pedal instantly and making intentional sudden speed changes is all but impossible to do safely. Depressing the pedal heavy to try and hasten the response makes the truck surge into hard and fast acceleration, worsening the issue. I have discussed this with the dealer and they said this is “normal” for this truck, and I have heard the same from numerous other 3rd generation Tundra owners. This is a safety issue because I don’t have adequate control of the vehicle’s dynamics as the computer is overriding my control of the acceleration, presumably to improve fuel economy. Ultimately this seems to be an intentional design decision by Toyota and puts me and my passengers at risk.

Vehicle Speed Control problem #12

Vehicle hesitates to accelerate from stop or slow roll when pedal is engaged. This hesitation nearly caused a collision when attempting a left-hand turn in heavy traffic. Problem can be reproduced easily and is exacerbated when on an incline. It has not been confirmed by dealer or service center. Occurs regardless of whether auto start/stop feature is enabled or not. Putting transmission in "s" mode and manually down shifting to first gear appears to prevent the issue. After the hesitation, when the vehicle begins to accelerate, it performs a "hard" acceleration, like the pedal was slammed to the floor, even though consistent pressure was maintained on the the pedal. Problem has existed since purchasing the vehicle new in Dec. 2023.

Vehicle Speed Control problem #13

Throttle lag/hesitation. Significant throttle lag/hesitation when trying to accelerate from a dead stop. Throttle input isn’t instant, sometimes the delay in acceleration from a dead stop has put me in dangerous situations when pulling out to the road way or having to move out of the way.

Vehicle Speed Control problem #14

Truck has had several instances where there is throttle lag when accelerating from a standstill and from a rolling stop. Happens more often when making a right hand turn. This is a safety issue when turning at a stop sign or stop light in heavy traffic.

Vehicle Speed Control problem #15

Known issue with these trucks apparently. Occasional throttle lag after stopping at a stop sign, with little response from the gas pedal. On November/December of this month pulling out into a main road with traffic coming, I stepped on the gas and experienced a complete "dead pedal". I stepped on the gas and had 0 response from the truck staying at 5-10 mph. With cars now coming towards me quickly as I was not moving I floored the gas pedal and had 0 response for another 2-3 seconds until finally the truck jolted at an extreme rate of speed. *also have a dash cam that recorded in the incident of me flooring it with some vulgar words as cars were coming and the truck was not moving at all.

Vehicle Speed Control problem #16

While driving the vehicle there is excessive lag in throttle response when giving the vehicle gas pedal input. Example being when you push gas to accelerate there is a 1-2 second delay from the vehicle before there is movement or acceleration. This happens every time I drive the vehicle and has almost caused numerous accidents due to the inconsistent response to throttle input.

Vehicle Speed Control problem #17

I experience hesitation when applying the throttle from a stop followed by surging. This is incredibly alarming when trying to pull away from a stop sign or light, especially in residential areas with pedestrian traffic.

Vehicle Speed Control problem #18

On Wednesday 10/21 at approximately 11:30pm I was traveling on the clearview expressway. While changing from the middle last to the left lane at 20mph due to a construction merge with some traffic. When trying to accelerate the truck lost all throttle power and my speed quickly dropped to 12mph before throttle response came back. No noticeable or harsh change of gear for this episode.

Vehicle Speed Control problem #19

On Tuesday 10/21 at approximately 4:30pm I was on the grand central parkway traveling about 50mph. When trying to accelerate the truck lost all throttle power and I quickly lost speed down to 40mph before throttle response came back. There was a noticeable change in gear upon throttle resuming.

Vehicle Speed Control problem #20

On Saturday 10/18 I was traveling about 60mph on the long island expressway at approximately 12:30pm when I went to accelerate to pass a vehicle. Immediately upon pressing the accelerator the truck lost all throttle power and I quickly lost speed down to 45mph before throttle response came back. The truck harshly went into gear once throttle power resumed.

Vehicle Speed Control problem #21

When at a complete stop, going to pull out, or continue driving, there is a noticable lag to the acceleration. It sometimes does nothing for a few seconds before acceleration. If backing up, then switching to drive,. There is a delay and or a small jerk motion before the vehicle accelerates. This has caused issues when pulling out and vehicles are coming at normal speeds with plenty of time to pull out. The delay has almost caused several accidents.

Vehicle Speed Control problem #22

The vehicle has acceleration hesitation. Sometimes when trying to go from a complete stop the vehicle is almost dead and doesn’t move then it feels as if the “clutch was popped “ in a manual but it is an automatic.

Vehicle Speed Control problem #23

The truck has a very pronounced hesitation to accelerate after slowing down or coming to a stop. Example: slow down, come to a stop at a stop sign and then accelerating to start moving. This situation happens daily and almost on every occasion after slowing or stopping. It has gotten worse over time and this issue has put me and my family in very dangerous and scary situations as the truck does not accelerate promptly and oncoming traffic is getting closer. It really has made me concerned to drive my truck and feel unsafe doing so, especially with my family.

Vehicle Speed Control problem #24

A low speeds there is a delay in throttle response. If you come to a stop then step on the accelerator, the vehicle has no response for a short period of time where then it may buck or propel itself to catch up with the missed throttle. I recently picked this vehicle up from the dealer and was told there is no remedy for the issue at this time.

Vehicle Speed Control problem #25

Stopped at a stop sign, slightly uphill, turning from a residential street onto a busier road. When I pressed the accelerator, the pickup moved a bit and then hesitated. After pressing the accelerator further, the pickup accelerated suddenly and quickly. This has happened intermittently, multiple times. This is not the case of the auto start-stop system not starting quickly enough. The first risk is not being able to smoothly accelerate into traffic and getting hit from behind because of the hesitation. When the vehicle does accelerate, it jerks forward suddenly and quickly, often losing grip from the rear tires. This causes a risk of losing control or veering into the oncoming lane. The problem has been reported and the mechanics worked with the field engineers to diagnose the issue. The field engineers reported that this is a known problem there were no warning lights or other indicators that any component is malfunctioning. The problem first appeared with under 2,000 miles on the odometer and has repeated intermittently. I have not yet been able to determine a series of events that trigger the issue. It did happen a few times when stopped slightly uphill, but that isn't the only time. It is not clear whether it is the accelerator, throttle, engine, transmission, computer, or data transmission causing the problem.

Vehicle Speed Control problem #26

The safety issue I have is that my truck will display hesitation in moving forward or accelerating. I have been in a few intersections trying to turn left and when pressing on the gas pedal there is a delay in responding to the gas pedal being pushed. I’ve discussed this with the dealer and was informed that this is normal behavior. The dead pedal has me very concerned for my safety and the safety of others while driving my truck.

Vehicle Speed Control problem #27

The contact owns a 2024 Toyota Tundra. The contact stated that while depressing the accelerator pedal from a standing stop at a traffic signal, the vehicle failed to respond. The contact stated that there was no warning light illuminated. The contact stated that the vehicle was hesitating before responding as needed and gradually moved forward. The contact stated that the failure was intermittent. Additionally, the contact stated that there was a misfire, and the vehicle was running roughly while idling after starting the vehicle. The contact stated that the vehicle had surged forward at high speed immediately after the vehicle hesitated and had failed to respond as needed. The contact stated that the surging of the vehicle failure had only occurred once. The contact stated that there were no warning lights illuminated during the failure. The contact had taken the vehicle to a local dealer who was unable to diagnose the vehicle because there were no warning lights or dtc saved in the computer. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 22,000.

Vehicle Speed Control problem #28

At a four way stop, four cars were stopped waiting for a car with right of way to turn left. Car turning left hesitated. I began to accelerate since myself and another car going straight had next right of way. Another car began to enter intersection so I let off the throttle and began to apply brakes for them to clear the intersection. This car also stopped seeing me begin to go so I hit the throttle as the intersection was clear for me. The truck, still rolling did nothing when I applied the throttle. I applied upwards of 50% throttle while the truck did nothing for approximately 2 seconds. I let off the throttle completely, for approximately 1 second and hit the throttle again to about 50% to quickly clear the intersection and not cause further confusion. The truck then lurched forward and accelerated rapidly where I had to again back off the throttle. This has happened multiple times. Another time turning left directly into the road (no intersection) pulling out of a shopping center. Pressed the throttle to about 50% after a slight hesitation to check traffic and clear oncoming traffic and the truck did nothing for approximately 2 seconds leaving me partially in the road waiting for acceleration. Let off throttle completely for 1 second and pressed again 50% and truck lurched forwards. Too close of a call for comfort.

Vehicle Speed Control problem #29

The transmission seems to be confused on which gear to select and hesitates to get the truck moving. It's happened to me at an intersection a few times and my car will inch forward but lags to accelerate, and vehicles behind me have been close to rear ending me. This is very reproducible in the mornings, it's very apparent or when the truck has been sitting off for a long period of time. After driving for a while it no longer happens. Every morning though this issue is apparent.

Vehicle Speed Control problem #30

After stopping at a stop sign I attempted to cross the traffic to enter another lane. When I began to proceed I lost all power to the vehicle. The engine was still running but the accelerator pedal had no effect on the engine. As I was trying to cross the traffic, the vehicles I was trying avoid were now having to brake for me because I was in the middle of the road with no power. There were no warning lights or sounds produced, the vehicle just suddenly started to accelerate again. I currently have an appointment at the dealership. This problem has occurred three times in six months.

Vehicle Speed Control problem #31

There are two recurring issues effecting my truck. These have been ongoing for 6 months, since March of this year. I have been to my dealer lum's in warrenton, oregon 8 times for this. They have been unavailable to fix the issues and told me they needed a Toyota factory person to fix the issues because they do not have anyone at the dealership that can do it. Nate whisnant, the service manger at lum's was suppose to make this happen but he has not. They are not responding. I have sent a request to my sales person liz valsqueze try to get some movement from lum's. These issues are described by my launch code reading tool, which I had to buy to clear the codes to keep my truck operational as designed. The issues are two issues for the power system: 1. P2450 7e 2. Evaporative emissions system switching valve actuator stuck on there are two issues for vehicle body system: 1. Evaporative emission system switching vlave performance/stuck open 2. Lost communication with image processing module "b" missing message effectively what this means is that: 1. The truck throws a check engine light and asks me to contact the dealer while simultaneously disabling all cruise control related functions. 2. The cameras used for parking, backing, checking the security of loads I the bed etc are all disabled. All camera's around the truck are disabled not allowing for safety checks when pulling into or out of parking, etc. It is unsafe not to have a view around my truck when pulling in and out of tight places. It it unsafe not to have fatigue reducing cruise control on long trips and in heavy traffic with collision braking assistance that does not work. This vehicle is available for inspection by anyone that will take the time to inspect it. The is a constant warning lamp that does not go off asking me to contact the dealer to fix it. These warning lamps first appeared in February 2024. I purchased the truck in December 2023. The dealer has not fixed the problems.
