I feel a slight thud when hitting exactly 40mph. This happens in normal, sport, and echo. I can feel the thud from the steering wheel and gas pedal. I think it is a transmission fault since it happens exactly at 40 every time, even on smooth roads.
Whenthe truck is on cruise control and there is a need to pass a vehicle in the freeway; I lightly accelerate push the pedal then there is no response ( the vehicle hesitates for a second or two) ; and suddenly the engine revs up (and jerks the truck) and slams the transmission to start accelerating. I looked up this issue and realized that may be a common issue. This has happened in several occasions since I bought the truck last year, I drive my truck very carefully. I will bring this issue to the attention of the dealer.
You step on accelerator and it doesn’t accelerate… it lags and almost caused accident more than 4 times! throttle body won’t open up and go. I feel they need to remap the system.
My motor shut off while I was driving. I had to have it towed to the dealership and they diagnosed the problem as a failed. Connection rod bearing. This requires an engine replacement to remedy the situation.
2024 limited, hesitation when pressing accelerator. There will be no power for some time. Then a sudden jolt of acceleration. The most memorable moments of this is when trying to turn left into a neighborhood while cross traffic is oncoming, trying to drive but the truck wont go. The indicator “add or replace oil” comes on even just after being to the dealer to have my 15000 mile service checkup. I have only had oil changes at the dealer. The trucks brand new and costs too damn much to not have the dealer take care of this. Can see blue/gray smoke out of the tail pipe - proving the engines burning oil. I pointed this out and took video while dropping it off at the dealer, they acknowledged. Frequent rough starts, not every one but 3 out of 5, always accompanied by the smoke. Shifting is far too rough. From a stop to easing on the accelerator there is a large knock, smacking into gear. This isnt always accompanied by the hesitation either. The rough shifting occurs at highway speeds too. The dealership has had my truck 3 days tomorrow and the only information they give me is; “ the technician cant fix it without having to talk (back and forth {like phone tag}) directly with the engineers. ” the only recall is for moisture accumulation in the reverse lights.
The vehicle has acceleration hesitation. Sometimes when trying to go from a complete stop the vehicle is almost dead and doesn’t move then it feels as if the “clutch was popped “ in a manual but it is an automatic.
Transmission is shifting hard.
Anytime I come to a yield/traffic circle and do not have to come to a complete stop, when I push the accelerator there is a hesitation and then the truck lurches forward. It happens quite often when I slow down to 5mph give or take before accelerating again. I would estimate it has happened 50 times since I have owned the truck which I bought with 300 miles on it.
My truck, which has a build date of July 2024, is having numerous on going episodes of hesitation and throttle lag when transitioning from a complete, or nearly complete stop. The truck was purchased in early October 2024. The hesitation was not noticeable at first. It began presenting itself after about 6 weeks of ownership and 1000 miles. Today, with 4200 miles on the vehicle, it hesitated twice on a 15 mile city trip. There is no rhyme or reason as to when it may present itself. . . Such as warm/cold outside, vehicle warmed up or still cold, or from a rolling or a dead stop. It does appear to be getting more frequent with longer delays in throttle response. I consider this to be a high priority safety issue that needs to be addressed immediately. I have never experienced this condition in a vehicle before and I have purchased about 15 new vehicles in my lifetime. I am now scheduling an appointment for this matter to be addressed with the dealership.
Vehicle has a persistent transmission issue which causes hesitation/shuddering under acceleration and cruising rpms. Toyota claims issue is software related after 5 trips to dealer. On this particular occasion the vehicle downshifted erratically climbing a steep roadway causing a loss of control in wet conditions activating the vehicle stability control. Vehicle was brought to dealer and Toyota brand engagement was notified requesting a remedy.
On light acceleration to maintain speed or flow of traffic, there is a drivetrain shudder the reverberates through the entire truck. It most noticeable when coming up grades of any kind, but can be replicated in most driving situations.
The truck has a hesitation when accelerating from a stop or after coming to a stop and then accelerating again it has a hesitation or lag before powertrain responds making it a hazard when on coming traffic is approaching.
Acceleration decreased randomly while starting from a dead stop. Loss of power when trying to pull away from the line.
I was pulling out into traffic. Gave the truck some gas and nothing. For a second or two it was at idle although I was giving it gas. The hesitation caused others to slam on brakes.
Vehicle has major hesitation issues. If I am coming up to a light and it turns green when I am below 5 mph, maybe around 1-2 mph, it will not go. It lags for around 3-5 seconds before it decides to go again. Sometimes from a stop if I am turning left, I try to cross traffic and go, it is very slowly moving even with me pushing the gas and then seconds later it finally goes but almost causing me to get hit! I now have to make sure there are large openings because I don't trust the truck and the dealer won't fix it.
When in stop and go traffic, almost coming to a complete stop or completely stopped the truck will intermittently have a throttle delay or lag where there is no power for 1-3 seconds followed buy a surge of acceleration. I’ve almost had a couple accidents where in stop and go traffic the truck surged almost causing me to rear end the vehicle ahead of me. Another time I was stopped at a 2 way unrolled intersection. I pressed on the accelerator and the truck just rolled without power for a couple seconds until it surged or jolted to acceleration. Otherwise I would’ve been in the middle of the intersection with oncoming traffic approaching. The dealer inspected and was unable to replicate the problem and I have taken it in several times. Repairing dealer confirmed manufacturer has had complaints about the same issue with the same model vehicle. There were no codes or error messages ever displayed. The dealer said they would contact when and if the manufacturer had a remedy or recall available. .
Stopped at a stop sign, slightly uphill, turning from a residential street onto a busier road. When I pressed the accelerator, the pickup moved a bit and then hesitated. After pressing the accelerator further, the pickup accelerated suddenly and quickly. This has happened intermittently, multiple times. This is not the case of the auto start-stop system not starting quickly enough. The first risk is not being able to smoothly accelerate into traffic and getting hit from behind because of the hesitation. When the vehicle does accelerate, it jerks forward suddenly and quickly, often losing grip from the rear tires. This causes a risk of losing control or veering into the oncoming lane. The problem has been reported and the mechanics worked with the field engineers to diagnose the issue. The field engineers reported that this is a known problem there were no warning lights or other indicators that any component is malfunctioning. The problem first appeared with under 2,000 miles on the odometer and has repeated intermittently. I have not yet been able to determine a series of events that trigger the issue. It did happen a few times when stopped slightly uphill, but that isn't the only time. It is not clear whether it is the accelerator, throttle, engine, transmission, computer, or data transmission causing the problem.
After making a complete stop, there is an extended delay around 3 seconds before the truck responds to the gas pedal being pressed. When it does respond it launches forward and causes the tires to break free. This has almost caused at least 7 accidents.
The engine periodically lags and is not responsive when pedal is pressed. When the engine catches up, the rpms skyrocket.
The truck has a hesitation with the throttle and does not move for a few seconds causing a safety concern. 0.
Engine seems to stall at acceleration from low speed. Basically, a dead pedal response. For instance, upon slowing down to near stop to enter a roundabout or an unmarked 4 way intersection(yield to enter intersection without stopping) vehicle has noticed throttle lag. Any attempt to accelerate even mildly into the roundabout or intersection results in a dead pedal for a second or two. No response from engine, truck feels like it’s going to die. I’ve been nearly hit multiple times by other vehicles as my vehicle is not moving when it should. Very dangerous. This is a daily occurrence. Dealer was unhelpful.
My Tundra iforce max was Toyota saleperson demo truck before I purchased it. Got my truck approx. 2xxx mileage in late sept. I started noticed transmission vibration while medium acceleration approx. 40 mph in early October. Vibration only occur during transmission warm up. Been attending to 2 dealerships multiple times and they find nothing wrong with my transmission since November 2024. I got loaner 2024 Tundra iforce recently with same 10 speed transmission, it felt lot smoother and no vibration at all for a whole week before return the loaner. The vibration from my Tundra feels like clutch slippery somewhere from transmission or k0 clutch. Some time it makes the acceleration feels delay while it was vibrating aka slippery. 2nd problem, I noticed left front tire edge shows sign of start worn out while tire is only have 8k miles on it. Dealership checked the alignment and said nothing found wrong. They recommended me to tire rotation on 5k miles without offer replace tire that is about to show bald on edge. Tire is factory off road package tire aka falken wildpeak at3wa. 3rd problem, during first oil change at 5k miles. I noticed there is oil residue on bottom bell housing between engine and electric motor. Dealership cleaned it and wanted me to come back at 10k miles routine maintenance inspection. Around 6k miles, I took a look at the leak area. Oil came back as seeping. Dealership denied and said there is no leak at this time. Saw the oil residue from their inspection report.
I purchased the vehicle from a Toyota dealer 10 days ago. Since then I have driven about 500 miles. I started the engine this morning (09/11/2024); but it will not start. This is a hybrid vehicle. I read the user's manual, which says a green "ready" indicator on the instrument panel should be on if hybrid system is normal. The green indicator was not on; it blinked briefly when I pushed the power button, then it disappeared. The vehicle is unable to move either forward or backward. I just called Toyota roadside assistance. It sent a two truck to it to a nearby Toyota dealer for inspection & repair.
I upgraded from my 2017 tacoma to a 2024 Tundra because of a growing family and the as advertised 2024 listed the same (if not better) fuel economy than my tacoma. I am the truck says 17 city-22 highway mpg, I've not seen anything remotely close to that. Im currently getting 14 city 16. 5 highway. I understand there are outside factors that could be at play, however I'm not even getting the city mpg on long trips. Having paid roughly $65k for this truck I think it should deliver as advertised. I've expressed my concern with my local dealership and was instructed to manually calculate the mpg to make sure the truck was showing the correct mpg. I can assure you that the mpg the truck is displaying is, unfortunately, correct. I've also filed a complaint with Toyota corporate and they pushed it back to my local dealership. No kne is taking accountability for this false advertisement. Frankly, I'm disappointed Toyota can continue to sell vehicles with fakse information. This reminds me of the vw diesel debacle years ago when vw finally got exposed for wrongdoing. I know many others have expressed this same concern. I hope NHTSA takes this matter seriously and forces Toyota to make this right somehow.
At a four way stop, four cars were stopped waiting for a car with right of way to turn left. Car turning left hesitated. I began to accelerate since myself and another car going straight had next right of way. Another car began to enter intersection so I let off the throttle and began to apply brakes for them to clear the intersection. This car also stopped seeing me begin to go so I hit the throttle as the intersection was clear for me. The truck, still rolling did nothing when I applied the throttle. I applied upwards of 50% throttle while the truck did nothing for approximately 2 seconds. I let off the throttle completely, for approximately 1 second and hit the throttle again to about 50% to quickly clear the intersection and not cause further confusion. The truck then lurched forward and accelerated rapidly where I had to again back off the throttle. This has happened multiple times. Another time turning left directly into the road (no intersection) pulling out of a shopping center. Pressed the throttle to about 50% after a slight hesitation to check traffic and clear oncoming traffic and the truck did nothing for approximately 2 seconds leaving me partially in the road waiting for acceleration. Let off throttle completely for 1 second and pressed again 50% and truck lurched forwards. Too close of a call for comfort.
When slowing down to a stop but not stopping completely then speeding up to enter another street or an intersection there is a 1-2 second hesitation before the truck reacts and actually moves. This is very scary and dangerous as it can cause an accident with oncoming traffic in certain situations. Toyota knows about this and does not have a fix for this defect.
The transmission seems to be confused on which gear to select and hesitates to get the truck moving. It's happened to me at an intersection a few times and my car will inch forward but lags to accelerate, and vehicles behind me have been close to rear ending me. This is very reproducible in the mornings, it's very apparent or when the truck has been sitting off for a long period of time. After driving for a while it no longer happens. Every morning though this issue is apparent.
Purchased 2024 Toyota Tundra from dealer brand new with 3 miles. Noticed tapping noise coming from engine area. Reported to service and Toyota specialists claimed to be normal. Same day recall 24ta07 was reported for engine debris found from production machining. Dealer suggested to take to another dealer for second opinion. Second dealer also claimed it is normal, but still they are replacing torque converter and transmission to try and eliminate the noise that they claim is normal. Videos of engine noises are not able to be uploaded. They can identify the problem is happening on 2024 Tundra as well.
After stopping at a stop sign I attempted to cross the traffic to enter another lane. When I began to proceed I lost all power to the vehicle. The engine was still running but the accelerator pedal had no effect on the engine. As I was trying to cross the traffic, the vehicles I was trying avoid were now having to brake for me because I was in the middle of the road with no power. There were no warning lights or sounds produced, the vehicle just suddenly started to accelerate again. I currently have an appointment at the dealership. This problem has occurred three times in six months.
While attempting to cross an intersection after stopping at a stop sign I stepped on the accelerator to go and the Toyota Tundra hesitated momentarily. This hesitation or lag caused me to be in the intersection later than I wanted to be nearly resulting in me being broadsided by a truck. This is not an isolated incident for my vehicle. I posted my issue on a social media site for 2023/24 Toyota Tundra's and the responses confirm that this is an issue that Toyota is aware but has done noting to remedy.
Truck purchased new on 2/8/2024. A couple weeks later at approximately 1700 miles on the odometer the driveline started developing an intermittent shimmy between 40 and 65 mph. Truck currently has 2026 miles on it. Dealership informed and are saying that this shimmy is as designed and therefore not an issue. Shimmy is progressively getting worse and being that nobody knows why it is happening I do not know if something is in the process of failing and might potentially fail at highway speed. This could potentially cause an accident resulting in injury or death. Note: a quick internet search "2024 Toyota Tundra transmission shimmy" results in several other complaints about the same problem.
When I shift out of n or p into drive there is loud and aggressive clunk. Like the tranny is gonna drop out the bottom! it’s a tight grip, the shifter doesn’t want to move. Potential to run someone in a car park or walking down the sidewalk.
The contact owns a 2024 Toyota Tundra. The contact stated that the vehicle had consistently experienced a throttle lag while driving from a complete stop and while decelerating. Additionally, the contact stated that while accelerating from a complete stop at an intersection, the vehicle hesitated to respond and then lurched forward while responding. There was no warning light illuminated. The failure had been recurring intermittently. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where an unknown repair was performed; however, the failure persisted. The dealer was notified of the failure. The contact stated that the dealer had advised that data from the event data recorder(edr) had been erased while in the process of correcting the throttle lag. The vehicle was not repaired. Additionally, the contact learned that a class action lawsuit was filed in the state of vermont due to the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 100.
It has been occurring ever since I purchased the truck in October 2023. I finally thought I should say something. Usually, the truck is at a complete stop. The truck can be warm or cold. As I press the accelerator down to move in the forward direction, there is a hesitation. No immediate acceleration. It lasts for at least one second before the acceleration begins. This can create a serious safety issue when there is cross traffic. Putting myself and passengers in possible danger of a collision. This occurs almost every time I drive the vehicle. When I had my truck in for a recall on 4/19/26, I asked a Toyota service manager if this is a common problem. He told me it is very common in the 2024 Toyota Tundra, with a v6 twin turbo. This leads me to believe that the Toyota corporation is aware of the problem. As per the service manager, Toyota has not done anything about this issue and there isn’t a repair for it.
