I bought my 2007 Tundra 6/30/2007 ran great until around 18,500 mi. At that time the transmission started making a banging noise which it felt like the 05 4 runner. The 4 runner still does it but it runs and drives fine. The Tundra is getting really bad as it is grinding and banging. I have been in contact with Toyota from my area and they keep saying I have to bring it in to have it checked. I have had several appointments and they usually call and cancel the appointment. I contacted different corporate exc's and one from California called and made an app. And I was there for it. I waited for 1 1/2 hours and the rep didn't show. I am now going to send mr. Akio toyoda, president of Toyota a certified letter. His address iscorporate headquarters* 1 Toyota-cho Toyota city, aichi 471-8571 japan phone: 81 5 6528 2121 fax: 81 5 6523 5800 I hope everyone that has a problem will send a certified letter to him and let him know how embarrassed the Toyota CO. Should be for the way they are handling the problems. I for one will go back to gm as they will half try to help.
The plastic link member of the rear side window latching pivot failed/broke/fractured when the window was latched closed. This occurred on both the driver and passenger side windows within about 2 months of each other at the end of 2005. It is apparent to me that this is a design defect as it occurred in both latches on a vehicle that is only 4 years old. The pin pressed into the mechanism, through the hole in the plastic link, is a split spring pin with a zig-zag 'tooth" pattern along the slit in the pin. I believe the "teeth" in this pin create a stress point on the inner diameter of the molded hole through the plastic link causing the link to fracture when the latch is closed as intended. The dealer from whom the vehicle was purchased has refused to replace the failed parts.

I have a 2000 Tundra, my friend has a 2001 Tundra. We have rear side window latch problems. Just open them and close, they will break. No stress, no binding of the window. The plastic hinges need to be replaced. .

The rear quarter panel latches crack very easily. I have personally talked to over 6 people who have different year Tundras with the same problem. Toyota knows about this. There is a service bulletin on it. With so many years involved, it should be recalled!!! at least offer free new latches!.
Vehicle is a 2000 Toyota Tundra access cab sr5. From the time the vehicle was purchased new, I've had problems with the door locking mechanism on the truck. The truck was purchased with the convenience package, which includes power lock doors. The door will unlock at speeds above 60 mph. The door ajar indicator will activate on the dash and the power door locks will unlock. The only way to resolve this condition is to stop the car in a safe area, get out and open and close the doors firmly. This occurs intermittently, but seems to occur on rough roads, and snow road conditions.
