Dear NHTSA, I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to bring to your attention a matter of significant concern regarding water leakage in my vehicle, which I believe has the potential to compromise the safety and functionality of the car's electronic systems. I would like to submit this report to the national highway traffic safety administration (NHTSA) to ensure that appropriate measures are taken to address and rectify this issue promptly. During the rainy season, I have observed water leaks occurring on both sides of the front section of my vehicle. This water infiltration has raised serious concerns about the possibility of damage to the car's computer system, thereby posing a potential risk of car malfunction. The electronic components of modern vehicles, including vital control units and sensors, are susceptible to water damage. In the event of such damage, there is a heightened risk of malfunctions that could compromise the overall safety and performance of the vehicle. Furthermore, I have identified an additional water leakage issue through the panoramic roof at the backside of the car. This raises the likelihood of water seeping into the interior of the vehicle, potentially damaging interior components, electrical wiring, and compromising the structural integrity of the car. I am reaching out to the NHTSA with the intention of highlighting the severity of these issues and advocating for a comprehensive investigation into the water leakage concerns in my vehicle model. I believe that swift action is necessary to prevent any potential safety hazards that may arise from compromised electronic systems or structural damage due to water infiltration. In light of the safety implications associated with water damage to the vehicle's electronic components, I urge the NHTSA to initiate a thorough examination of this matter. Your prompt attention to this matter is crucial in ensuring the safety of drivers and passengers who may be affected by similar issues.

3 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 04/06/2022

My 2009 Venza requires an entire roof seal replacement to stop leaking from all sides of the roof. I was quoted $1k. There should be a recall or some portion of this cost covered by Toyota.

7 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 12/01/2018

Abs, esc, and brake indicator lights randomly display upon driving the vehicle. They display intermittently, sometimes after 1/4 mile of driving, other times after 25 miles of driving. They display on smooth or rough roads, with no apparent cause. While I have not yet had an accident or system fail, it is of concern because I transport my daughter in this vehicle. On a vehicle that has 50,000 miles on it and other documented cases of this as well, I believe this is a cause for concern. I am not sure of the cause or the solution to this problem as of yet. The vehicle does not have to be in motion when the lights appear either. They appear at stop signs or lights, when driving slowly, or at highway speeds. I am unaware if the systems themselves stop working upon the indicators activation or not. I believe that this warrants more investigation and possibly a safety recall as abs and esc are safety features and brakes are (from my civilian perspective) a necessary function for the vehicles safe operation.

8 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 08/01/2016

My sun visor on the driver side would not stay in place and when I applied a little pressure the visor broke around the hole where it connects to the roof piece. I was driving. Then it would hang in my face and I could not see well. At stop signs I was trying to remove it but the fabric around it prevented that. I was finally able to remove it and currently have no visor on the driver side now.

9 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 07/18/2016

While trying to brake, my car accelerated and I almost hit the cars infront of me. I was getting off the highway to the rotary and there was cars stopped in front of me and I tried to brake and the car accelerated instead.

10 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 05/01/2016

The "srs airbag" warning light comes on for no reason. Sometimes it's while I'm driving, sometimes it's when I'm in park and get out of the car if it's still on. There's no rhyme or reason to it. I've taken it to a Toyota dealer and a Lexus dealer and have had many of my airbag sensors replaced and nothing seems to work for very long. This is a huge problem since I'll be needing to go get my emissions done in the spring. It's also cost me $1000's in repair costs for a "fix" that doesn't work.

11 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 07/09/2015

While unloading items from the rear of the Venza, the left side lift mechanism of the tail gate which was up in the automatic lift top position broke off and the door fell on my head injuring my skull. Terrible headache afterwards. The automatic function of the lift up or down no longer works.

12 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 02/10/2015

Drivers sun visor drops down blocking vision. It started out with a slight sagging down, but today while in dallas, TX traffic it dropped down and would not stay up on it's own. Very dangerous! I had to literally tear visor down to safely be able to continue my trip.

13 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 01/10/2015

While at grocery store, engaged rear power lift gate on key fob. Lift gate opened and started loading groceries into rear of vehicle. Without warning the lift gate came down hitting me in the head. There was so much pressure that it knocked to my knees. The head strike caused a contusion and raised lump on my head and minor concusive symptoms.

14 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 12/07/2014

I was sitting in the drive thru line of a fast food restaurant when the care took a sudden surge forward. I steered hard to keep from hitting the vehicle in front of me and manage to hit the bumper on right side doing over 1500 dollars in damage and swerved into another parked car doing damage to it also. The Venza had damage of more than six thousand dollars. The car has been repaired but I am afraid to drive it so it has been sitting in the carport since the day the repairs were finish. By the way that was the second incident of that kind in that car. There is something wrong with that car. Please investigate before someone is hurt or killed.

15 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 12/07/2014

I was pulling up to a drive thru window at a fast food restaurant when the vehicle just surged forward I tried to engage the brakes . I hit and damaged two cars in the parking lot before I could bring it to a stop. This was the second time the car had done this but the other time no other cars was involved .

16 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 11/21/2014

Vcs, brakes, abs lights all on at the same time after heavy rain. Went away, came back a couple of times and now is on constantly.

17 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 11/17/2014

Exactly as another driver stated: the driver side sun visor started to just fall down a little at first. Then it just started falling off a little more sometime blocking my view. I would push it back up and that worked for a couple of weeks until the metal part came through the cloth and it came off totally. I went to price a new one at the dealership and they wanted around $111. 00 that wasn't including service. I see there are a lot of complaints about this problem so I don't feel I should have to pay for this visor. There needs to be a recall before someone crashes from this problem. Please don't wait for someone to get hurt before you have a recall. Needs a recall ASAP. .

18 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 04/15/2014

Our 2009 Venza has had 3 speed sensor failures in the last year. Good thing we had an extended warranty, but what happens when that expires in about 10,000 miles? when I asked Toyota this question, they said to call back when another when broke. I'm sure that won't be long. In my opinion, Toyota has sold a product with a defective part and doesn't really care. This was our first Toyota and last Toyota purchase.

19 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 10/01/2013

Sun visor obstructing visibility: last year (2003) the left sun visor (driver side) fell straight down blocking vision during travel. I already paid $100 + tax to replace it. Now on November 2014, the right sun visor (passenger side) is broken. I have concluded that it is a manufacturing defect and a safety hazard issue, because it can cause an accident. I don't feel I should have to pay for this visor again. There needs to be a recall due to a lot of complaints about this problem and before a tragedy occurs.

20 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 04/17/2013

Drivers side sun visor falling down and impeding site.

21 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 01/10/2013

I noticed my Toyota Venza's roof molding strip was loose during a car wash. I put it back; however, one week later the roof molding strip was gone. I went to dealer, and was told my car was no longer under warranty, even the mileage still under 36000 miles. Then I searched on the internet and found that many people had the same problems. I believe Toyota should make a recall for this manufacturing defect before accidents happen.

22 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 03/09/2011

I purchased a Toyota Venza, and I am upset that Toyota no longer instals extenders on the sun visors. The sun is hitting the driver and passenger in the eye, and it is not possible when driving into the sun to block out the sun in many instances, this is most annoying & unsafe.
