The dealer informed the contact that the failure was related to a TSB. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact that the owner needed to report the failure to the dealer for the TSB to be accessed. Water leak from panoramic sunroof when it rains. Side pillar posts. Have read several reviews including: shorted out the power window controls, owners had to dismantled moonroof on their own to add sealant or glue. This should be Toyota's responsibility as a factory issue. Dealers are not taking responsibility for it. Issue has been going on for about 2yrs but I just found out I could make complaint here. Please assist.

44 Electrical System problem of the 2011 Toyota Venza

The power-driven back hatch caught some fingers in it as it closed. This happened to me (evan l. Ivie) several weeks ago and I ignored it. It happened to my grandson (russel evan ivie) yesterday. It didn't break any bones but did do some flesh damage and caused some serious pain. Is there any way of turning off the power-driven feature? dr. Evan l. Ivie.

45 Electrical System problem of the 2013 Toyota Venza

Failure Date: 07/06/2017

The panaramic sun/moon roof has comprehensive issues with regard to stability and safety. When driving over an uneven surface, speedbump, or other non-smooth surface, there is a loud and jarring pop from the overhead roof area of the car where the panaramic sun/moon roof is installed. It is concerning and sounds as if it has the potential to shatter or implode onto passengers inside the vehicle. I inquired about this at oxmoor Toyota in louisville, kentucky asking that it be replaced since my particular vehicle was certified and came with a bumper-to-bumper warranty and they refused, saying it wasn't covered and suggested I file a TSB.

46 Electrical System problem of the 2010 Toyota Venza

Distinct smell of ozone / burning electrical component was noticed in the cabin while driving on a cold day. Pulled off the road to safety and investigated further. After cycling power several times, the burning smell was verified to be coming from the driver's seat heater. Seat heater turned off to prevent possible fire and will be examined by a local body shop in a few days to pinpoint the fault.

47 Electrical System problem of the 2011 Toyota Venza

Failure Date: 09/28/2016

While I was trying to turn into the driveway of a relative apartment, the steering wheel got really tight and eventually locked up giving very little to no time to pull over for safety. The engine then shuts down. I cannot imagine how dangerous it would have been if this had happened while driving 65mph plus on a freeway. I've had the steering wheel locked up on me before while the car was parked and engine off, and I was able to get it unlocked by moving the steering wheel back and forth. However, this was the first time and a scary one where the steering locked up while the vehicle was still moving. I was lucky we were at a residential area when this happened. If this had happened on a freeway where other cars are zooming by, how dangerous is it to have a vehicle to all of a sudden locks itself up and shuts down giving practically no time to pull over? I should mention though that the battery light did just come on about two and half to three hours before the incident happen. Even so, I don't think it's normal or safe for such a short warning period.

48 Electrical System problem of the 2009 Toyota Venza

Failure Date: 05/01/2016

The "srs airbag" warning light comes on for no reason. Sometimes it's while I'm driving, sometimes it's when I'm in park and get out of the car if it's still on. There's no rhyme or reason to it. I've taken it to a Toyota dealer and a Lexus dealer and have had many of my airbag sensors replaced and nothing seems to work for very long. This is a huge problem since I'll be needing to go get my emissions done in the spring. It's also cost me $1000's in repair costs for a "fix" that doesn't work.

49 Electrical System problem of the 2009 Toyota Venza

Failure Date: 04/05/2016

While driving on the highway I noticed a "rubber burning" smell. I took the vehicle into the dealership the next day. I was told that the ecu related to my driver seat warmer had started to melt. The ecu was removed and the heating element for my driver seat was disconnected. Toyota will not cover replacement of this part stating that it is out of the 3 year warranty period. I pointed out that this seemed to me to be more of a potential recall issue related to a manufacture defect/faulty product. I was concerned about the potential for fire.

50 Electrical System problem of the 2010 Toyota Venza

54 Electrical System problem of the 2013 Toyota Venza

Failure Date: 08/08/2014

I was on the freeway all of sudden traffic stooped , I hit the brakes no abs the traction lite came on car went to neutral . I had an impact at 20. 1 mph according to Toyotas black box. The front end was damaged in the tune of $8300. 00 tore the front bumper off severe frame damage all in the area of the air bag sensor that was tore off. Come to find out after the accident their was an air bag recall we were never notified. The vehicle was fixed by a body shop recommended by the dealership that never checked out the system, I took it in for the recall they did not perform as per their supplemental documents from your web site. Now I have nerve damage and tendentious as I braced myself and bent the steering wheel. I have asked and asked for help from Toyota they told me the impact was not severe enough . My understanding is the air bags deploy at a 10 to 15 mph impact I hit at 20 plus . Their is a major flaw on the traction system the lite comes on when you apply the brake , I was told that my foot was to big and I push the brake to hard and I should not of bought the car. Edmund's web site has hundreds of complaints of cars acting the same way and some people have their cars stall in intersections . Bottom line with this issue someone is or has going to be killed unless their is a recall or investigation. I can be reached at 561-714-0519 thank you.

55 Electrical System problem of the 2011 Toyota Venza

Failure Date: 02/01/2014

There has been a recall on model year 2012 and 2013 Toyota Venza. Nhtsa campaign id number: 13v442000. I believe 2011 should be in this recall as well. Our vehicle is not draining condensation properly. There is a bad odor coming out of your air conditioner and I believe the smell is from the buildup of moisture in and around the air conditioner. As this is also mentioned in NHTSA recall number above.

57 Electrical System problem of the 2013 Toyota Venza

Failure Date: 09/11/2013

Depressing the acceleration pedal has no effect on engine speed for up to 3 or more seconds. This situation has occurred approximately twelve times since car was purchased new in may 2013. It now has 1200 miles on the odometer. Car has been returned to the dealer twice for this reason without result. The last dealer visit in September 2013, I was advised the “drive by wire” system was operating to specification and there was no fix for the problem presently. Further, it is a problem common to the Venza model as well as certain other Toyota models.

58 Electrical System problem of the 2013 Toyota Venza

Failure Date: 08/21/2013

I complained to a Toyota dealer about this problem in 6-2017. The took it for a road test and the car did not do it and it did not record a code. So they could not find a solution. Intermittently and without warning the electronic link between the gas pedal and the engine is inoperative for 3-5 seconds. During this period the car is not under power, it is coasting and depressing the gas pedal has no effect on the engine speed. After this period the electronic link is automatically restored and the engine is again responsive to pressure on the gas pedal. I have been dealing with this scenario ever since I purchased this car in 8-2013. It seems to be happening more frequently. Needless to say, it is a very dangerous situation. I no longer feel safe driving this car. .

59 Electrical System problem of the 2013 Toyota Venza

61 Electrical System problem of the 2009 Toyota Venza

Failure Date: 04/26/2013

Driving home from work Friday morning and the vsc, abs warnings begin to come up. An issue which was noted when we first purchased the car and around 20k miles the dealer told us we needed a new battery which we had to purchase out of pocket. Since then we purchased an extra warranty to cover all components of the vehicle. This time the dealer is stating that it is a speed sensor and that the insurance covers it but we will have to pay for the labor roughly 400 dollars. The dealer informed us that the issue at hand was for a speed sensor but that it is ok to drive the car. We drove the car and noticed that in the rain the car skids when you try to brake and feels very unsafe so we ended up staying home.

62 Electrical System problem of the 2011 Toyota Venza

Failure Date: 02/21/2013

The Toyota Venza 2011 has problems when the temperature inside the car is at high. The abs light turn on making it hard to steer. The traction lost control light also turns on. A red steering wheel light turns on. Once all these lights are on, then the ac does not work and the heat doesn't work either. In the winter when the temperature is at high, the same problem occurs. In the summer the same problem occurs only the sun heats up the car causing the same warning light come on and then I can't get any air conditioning again. I've had this problem for many years. Went to the Toyota dealership to try to fix it but they haven't fixed anything. They just charged up to $700 and they haven't fixed anything. They did a computer resets and computer diagnostics. The Toyota dealerships have tried to fix it but none of them are able to find out what the problem is. Also, when the ac is on during the heat up the engine fans that cool off the engine stop working. Our cars engine stopped all of the sudden really recently when it was really hot. From an auction.

63 Electrical System problem of the 2009 Toyota Venza

Failure Date: 01/22/2013

On 1-22-13 we had the seat heater on the driver's side repaired. We observed that the cab would fill with the smell of electrical wires burning when we engaged the seat heater. It first occurred approximately 1 month prior, but at that time I could not determine what was causing the smell. An online check revealed that NHTSA had announced a recall for seats: front assembly;seat heater/cooler on November 19th, 2014, ref: 14v743000. I would request that our VIN be included on the recall list, so that we could be compensated for the repair. Thank you.

67 Electrical System problem of the 2009 Toyota Venza

Failure Date: 04/01/2011

Three warning lights appeared simultaneously while driving and stayed on for 20 - 30 minutes until I stopped and turned off the engine (sunny day, no rain): 1. Slip indicator light (p. 515 - malfunction in the vsc or trac system). 2. Brake system warning light (p. 513 - malfunction in the brake system). 3. Abs warning light (p. 515 - malfunction in the abs or the brake assist system). 3. Cruise control: a. Pressing cruise control on switch wouldn't maintain the set speed immediately, but would accelerate for awhile (with accelerator pedal off). B. With cruise control on, adjusting the speed, accelerating and decelerating, doesn't feel right. It's jumpy, wouldn't react right away, not comfortable, not safe. The dealership stated this was the first time Toyota has had this problem yet I have read online Venza owners have had a problem since 2009. This problem has occurred five times. The dealership service states there is a log which recorded the error.

68 Electrical System problem of the 2010 Toyota Venza

Failure Date: 09/14/2010

On September 14, 2010 my husband and I were driving our 2010 Toyota Venza on rte. 19s, in fayette, west virginia. We accelerated our Venza to match ongoing traffic speeds, when the throttle stuck wide open and was increasing in speed. I stepped on the brakes, which failed to respond. I then checked the cruise control, to see if I had inadvertently engaged it, but I had not. I then started to pump the accelerator pedal with extreme force, and after numerous pumps, the throttle disengaged. As soon as it was safe, we pulled over to the side of the road, and called our dealership, courtesy Toyota. They instructed us to call 1(800)331-4331 to report the incident and have the vehicle towed to the nearest Toyota dealer. The car was brought to l&s Toyota city in beckley, wv, where they proceeded to perform an unintended acceleration inspection, but the tech was unable to duplicate the issue. They performed the recall of the pedal reshaping, which we had not been previously notified of, and cleared the vehicle for release to us, at this time, and advised us that if this should reoccur, to shift the vehicle into neutral and slow the car by braking. The issue was not related to the pedal shape or the driver mat, and was in fact a computer anomaly. When the anomaly occurred, it froze the throttle and blocked the braking system. . Further more, the idea to shift into neutral is unsafe, as there were no brakes to slow the vehicle to a stop and would continue to coast onward at an uncontrollable velocity. I expect that Toyota company knows the defect lies in the computer control system, but may well believe the cost of claims and human lives is cheaper than fixing the very real problem. We purchased the Toyota Venza March 30, 2010 and were assured that, at that time, there were no recalls for it. The recall for our Venza was issued March 16, 2010, which had not been performed on our car, and we had not been aware of one until our very traumatic experience occurred.
