1 Check Engine Light On problem

Failure Date: 08/22/2013

The check engine light on my manual-transmission 2007 Toyota Yaris will intermittently come on for a period of several hours up to several days before shutting off. This has been occurring for several months now. Sometimes when the light is on, the car accelerates on its own. It also may stall, or the engine will rev really high without the gas pedal being touched. I brought it to a mechanic that replaced one of the sensors, however the problem persists.

2 Check Engine Light On problem

Failure Date: 05/02/2011

The contact owns a 2007 Toyota Yaris. While driving approximately 45 mph, the vehicle began to decelerate and would not respond when the accelerator was engaged with the illumination of the check engine warning light. The contact was able to drive the vehicle to the dealer where the technicians advised that the timing gear had failed and would need to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure was mileage 2,000. The VIN was not available.
