3 Seat Belt problem of the 2008 Toyota Yaris

Failure Date: 05/27/2021

My fiancee bought her 2008 Toyota Yaris on about the 26 Apr 2021. Right off she had brake failure pretty quickly after buying the car. Brake pads were suspected of failing. When the front tires were removed the calipers had built up thick rust on inside surface where the pads sit on both front calipers. The pads were pushed into the rotors heavily causing the driver side rotor to be damaged beyond acceptable limits. The right side rotor was turned successfully with enough rotor minimum thickness remaining. So the rust caused me to replace 1 rotor, both calipers and pads on front and rear brakes. The rust built up on the calipers threaded input and output brake fluid lines threaded attach points. This could have cause a fluid leak that could of been very dangerous leading to injury or death of occupants. I have not reported this to the Toyota dealership or anyone else. I didn't know I could report dangerous items that could be set for a safety recall by the NHTSA. As for the airbags, the driver airbag light stays on and passenger light comes on when 10 pounds of weight is sat in passenger seat. The belt is not latched. My driver seat belt is always latched when I drive. I weigh 130 but the light remains on. So, will the driver air bag inflator explode or fail due to the warning light illuminatimg. I was unaware of a recall for this and 3 others have not been repaired yet by previous owners. The third item is backseat seatbelt female receptical will not latch to the male end on 2 of the 3 seating positions. This is a real safety issue when we place children in the backseat. We can only take 1 child at each drive, so even adults riding in the backseat will be not buckled up, which is un-law and very dangerous causing severe injuries and even death in an accidental collision. I will take my fiancee's 2008 Yaris to a Toyota dealership for the 4 recalls noted today by VIN,7/29/2021. Thanks, richard peavler.

11 Seat Belt problem of the 2007 Toyota Yaris

Failure Date: 07/02/2016

Good afternoon I have a 2007 Toyota Yaris with around 108,000 miles. I made an apmt with a local dealer to go thru 3 recalls in my car and additionally to check on my rear-driver seatbelt which is not retracting (it failed on 6-26-16) . I have read various forums stating that various owners of my model car have had the same issue. The dealer finished the 3 recalled issues. The issue with the rear seatbelt was related to a ball bearing in the system that was not allowing for the seatbelt to recoil. The dealer wanted around $350 to fix the issue. I think this is a safety issue the car is not new but an item that is needed for safety should not go bad within a fairly long timeline, it should at least outlast the car. I have read various forums with people complaining on this same problem. How can this not be a problem related to quality and safety of the equipment Toyota sells? additional note: the dealer refused to fix my car's airbag (takata recall) because they did not have the parts yet. Thank you rbdaniel33.

I contacted Toyota hawaii during the first week of February and was told there has not been any fix for the problem and that I should wait and call back in a while. 27 Seat Belt problem of the 2008 Toyota Yaris

Failure Date: 12/22/2010

I had an accident on December 22, 2010 I called my insurance company and they send me to the hospital and the vehicle to the Ford dealership in brownsville, TX for the reason that is the only dealership with a body shop department, the took longer than expected to fix the vehicle and they refused to provide with a rental vehicle, the first time I picked up the vehicle I was not satisfied, the seat belts on the driver side were not working and the door was not closing properly, the open door light was always "on" the dashboard, they again refused to provide a rental vehicle, the second time I picked up the vehicle on February of 2011, they changed the gas gage and did not replaced the gas tank. The gas tank was a 10 gallon tank and now is only a 8 gallon tank, and I'm sure they charged my insurance company for it. This put me at risk, I can not drive long distance on a 8 gallon tank, this is a security issue and overall this situation puts me under a lot of stress, I was considering sell this car to get a new one, but the value will decrease for the fact that the vehicle does not have a 10 gallon gas tank. After the accident and all the problems I went thru I was under depression and I even had to resign to my job, my emotional depression will not allow me to focus on work . For all this reasons I will like for you to review my case and help me. I had a terrible experience with Ford and with the service provided and I will like for them to compensate me for all the time, money and emotional distress they caused me.

35 Seat Belt problem of the 2007 Toyota Yaris

Failure Date: 02/03/2008

I have a 2007 Yaris with a faulty center pillar sound insulator due to the safety recall notice. My local dealership(classic Toyota of round rock, texas) refuses to service my Toyota vehicles, stemming back from an incident in which I was overcharged $750 on a 2008 scion xb last year. They have told me to 'take my car elsewhere for repairs". . But this is not a "repair" due to wear and tear. . It's a safety recall. I have been in contact with the customer relations manager, and she is unwilling to process my safety recall work. I feel as if I'm being cheated out of the guaranteed warranty I purchased with my new vehicle, and they are intentionally risking my safety by not fixing a dangerous recall (seat belt tensioner). Coincidentally, the seatbelt already failed to work properly when my car was struck by a small truck directly in the driver's door. . . If the seatbelt was correctly working I would likely have suffered less damage to my shoulders and neck. My next step will be to report this to the local police and file a complaint with the better business bureau. Though, I hope y'all will assist on fixing my recall. Thank you.
