Rearview System Braking problems of the 2022 Volkswagen Atlas

The infotainment module in my vehicle that I purchased in March 2026 has completely gone out and was deemed faulty by two different Volkswagen dealerships. Because of this amenity no longer working, I do not have access to a backup camera, the sos feature, safety sensors, navigation, control to the dashboard (I cannot set an accurate time), hands free phone connection to the screen and the many other necessities that are directly linked to the infotainment system. My husband and I are expecting our first baby any day now, and we purchased this car specifically for the safety features — now we no longer have them. The part to fix this issue has been on back order with Volkswagen for quite a long time and I cannot get a definite answer from anyone as to when it will be back in stock. Multiple dealerships and car technician businesses have relayed to us that this is an issue they have seen many times with the newer Volkswagen models. They have confirmed that nobody has a timeline on when the part will be back in, and the only way for my husband and I to stay updated about the status of the back order part is to consistently call the Volkswagen dealership for an update. This issue occurred at the beginning on July, with no warning signs. The screen cut off and that was the end of it. We have spent over $500 getting diagnostics and trying to solve this issue, but we have had no luck and no help. Volkswagen states on its official website, “for us, integrity means taking a stance. Integrity acts as an inner compass to do the right thing out of our own conviction – regardless of economic or social pressure,” and we feel very strongly that this is an issue of safety and utmost importance.

After an automatic software update, the navigation screen and all systems that are accessed through that screen no longer work. This includes the back-up cameras for the vehicle. The vehicle was returned to the dealer who was unable to fix it citing they do not have the necessary "computer chip" and did not know when they would be able to get them. The vehicle was returned to me. There is limited visibility through the rear window of this vehicle and the absence of a back-up camera is problematic.

The infotainment center of the vehicle does not start/work upon start of the car. I get a notification on the dashboard that audio is not available. The whole infotainment center not working on startup means I cannot view the picture/video feed from the rear camera. I tried activating the park assist feature to activate the camera but it did not work because the infotainment center was inoperable. I purchased the car one week ago and have had this issue on starting up the car everyday this past week. It takes anywhere from 2-10 minutes before the infotainment center is operable. I have notified the dealership and they have not been able to reproduce the issue because they acquire the vehicle after the info center is operable. I am not able to have the vehicle serviced at the dealership until Feb. 23, 2022. They have advised to “reset” the infotainment center. The sales associate who sold me the car did this and the problem still exists. Because I purchased the car new, with 10 miles, I did not anticipate this issue.
