One problem related to door latch has been reported for the 2000 Volkswagen Beetle. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Driver's side door opened while leaving parking space. Door had been shut properly before taking off. Door latch malfunctioned allowing door to swing open. Luckily no one was injured as speed was less than 5 miles per hour, but had this occurred on the roadway, I would not want to think of what may have happened. The door latch will need to be replaced.
