Three problems related to headlights have been reported for the 2000 Volkswagen Beetle. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Headlights problem

Failure Date: 02/19/2012

Headlights keep going out. I have to replace them about every three months.

2 Headlights problem

Failure Date: 11/28/2004

Was wondering if there is a problem/recall with the new vw beatle. I have a 2000 and I have had to replace the headlights 4-5 times within a year or so. Also I see alot of them on thge highway with one headlight out. Do you have any information inreference to this issue.

3 Headlights problem

Failure Date: 12/05/2001

Failed headlight cannot be replaced by owner because of the difficulty of removing front car panel. The only dealer within 30 minute drive cannot work on the car within the next 5 days, resulting in car having to be driven without headlight. Suggest dealers make exceptions for working on cars in need of a headlight, since it's a core piece of safety equipment and that consumers be made aware of the design problem before buying this car because of both the time and expense involved in a piece of equipment that is subject to failure at any time.
