3 Steering problem of the 2017 Volkswagen Beetle

Failure Date: 10/25/2024

Hi, one time the car wheel turned extra and the gas went extra fast. I also had several devices on my car through blue tooth that were not mine and mirror link kept checking and aux. This is conjunction with 3 years of hacking (that I think is technically-assisted abuse) with Smart home hub, surveillance, spyware on phone and hacked emails. Tried filling out ic3. Gov form to no avail. Took car twice to volkswagan dealer in springfield, PA and paid $100 twice to clear the dashboard but it kept happening with roav-fr3 and something fm-forman (cant recall names) and keyless car detective. Then I paid to remove the car radio. Then I found a navaro device on passenger side under seat but dealer refused to remove it and when I called Volkswagen from there they said only the dealer knows where the vehicle embedded sim is. They do not know how to check software and say 'it is uncharted territory. ' I do not feel safe. There are no laws regarding car hacking and Smart home abuse and I am now writing a book for women about it so they are not gas lighted and can get help. This can be a deadly mistake and there needs to be an easy inexpensive place for someone to have their car checked for malware, sim or sd card. Please help. There was a police report but I do not have it. It was on 10/20/24 with colonial chris mcwilliams state police middletown, PA 19063. He said navaro device was factory installed but volkswagan said it was not. Mechanic said it was a satellite radio device.

10 Steering problem of the 1999 Volkswagen Beetle

Failure Date: 12/06/2016

My car- 1999 vw Beetle was not fully inspected before I got the car from dealer. I just found out that my car has long list of parts need replacement to repair and I felt that it wasn't real safe because of strut shock and power steering also cv joints are getting bad in the under of hood. I found out that my car has no panel skid for prevent from wetting on motor parts and got bad acid on it. I has to order the parts for my car and hasn't driven for almost 6 months by so far. By right I don't have much money to pay for repairs.

11 Steering problem of the 2010 Volkswagen Beetle

Failure Date: 03/01/2016

My car only has 43k miles, I had issues when it was 10k miles, where the key will not turn to start the engine, it gets stuck, and sometimes it gets stuck with the steering wheel. The issue was reproducible when I brought it in to the vw dealership near me. The service rep told me it is very common for this model (bug) but they don't know why. They quoted me $1200 to get the lock|bolt|cylinder replaced, but the warranty is only 12 months/12k miles. Mind you that it happened when it was 10k miles. Imagine, my wife and 7-year-old stop at a gas station at night and can't start the car because everything is locked. I contacted vw care, but they don't care unless there is a recall. So, I am filling out this complaint form. Thank you.

12 Steering problem of the 2010 Volkswagen Beetle

Failure Date: 07/05/2015

After driving for 2 hours in 80 degree weather, I stop the car to fill for gasoline, and when starting the car to drive forward on my trip, the steering wheel erratically moves on it's own, and then the power assisted steering goes into a fault thus losing all power steering. I have been to numerous vw dealers over the past 3 years for the same problem, and has never been resolved. When I called Volkswagen corporate, they tell me there is nothing they can do to resolve this issue. The fault code clears itself so that when it is brought into the dealer, the dealer does not see any problem with the steering the car cannot be operated safely without the power steering, and this should be a vehicle safety recall, since driving his vehicle could cause a fatal accident. I also have a video recorded on my phone of the latest incident.

13 Steering problem of the 2013 Volkswagen Beetle

Failure Date: 06/27/2015

We were driving home in our 2013 Volkswagen Beetle convertible when the engine died causing a lack of steering control. This is actually the second time this has happened with this vehicle. My wife is pregnant and I have lost confidence in this car being able to move my family around safely. I have searched online and others have had similar issues. The dealers are not able to "duplicate" the issue so they send you away with an unsafe vehicle. Hopefully this does not wind up being a situation similar to gm where people have to lose their lives before the issues are corrected.

Under certain daytime lighting conditions several of the dash panel instruments (speedometer, and tachometer) can not be read, since these are not illuminated unless the headlights are on. There are no options in the supplied controls to turn these dash lights on without turning on the headlights. Vw of America has been contacted with regard to this concern and has indicated there is not 'fix' for this condition. My wife and I are very concerned with this condition. We are pursuing an alternative lighting arrangement to solve this condition.

22 Steering problem of the 2010 Volkswagen Beetle

Failure Date: 07/07/2011

Noticed a similar complaint and wanted to add that since owning the 2010 vw Beetle, when the temperature gets very warm, the steering wheel lock feature is very difficult to disenage, causing the ignition key switch to remain locked. I have been dealing with this for 4 years as the dealer showed me how to disengage the locked steering wheel (press brake pedal, turn key in ignition) but had no response to the temperature situation. I am not an idiot, I am short though, so it is very difficult for me to get in and out of the car without bumping the steering wheel and locking it. As I keep the door open (air brings inside temperature down), I sweat away as I wait for the brake to disengage the lock so I can turn the key. Annoyed.

24 Steering problem of the 1974 Volkswagen Beetle

Failure Date: 01/12/1976

In a sweeping left turn on hwy 58, the steering lock. I went across the on coming lane, into a big pullout and stopped about 3 feet from a large tree. I check with the dealer about getting a new shaft with new u joints. He said that they had a super bug that was in a collision that needed the steering shaft replaced, (bad u joint). I went and got another one, it too had a binding u joint. One bearing in the all shafts, (u joint) did not have grease in them they had rust and were binding or bound! I made up 2 out of the parts of 3 with grease in them. Still have the car today. Also the head lights an back up lights did not work when I first got it, (new), and the wiring was not the proper color code.
