Eight problems related to steering have been reported for the 2010 Volkswagen CC. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Steering problem

Failure Date: 04/26/2019

When I am driving the vehiclel sometimes it hesitates I don't know if f is air flow sensor or transmission a had no idea.

2 Steering problem

Failure Date: 12/21/2017

I had my clock spring replaced last year due to the recall, then had my air bag replaced a month ago. The recall for the clock spring stated that the airbag replacement may cause the clock spring to fail. But since I had the clock spring replaced before the airbag I am apparently not subject to have any failure since it was a new part. Well guess what happened my clock spring sure enough failed 1 month after the air bag was replaced. I guess vw did a great job mitigating that disaster.

3 Steering problem

Failure Date: 06/01/2017

The contact owns a 2010 Volkswagen Cc. While driving various speeds, the horn was inoperable as well as the other function buttons on the steering wheel. The contact took the vehicle to fred beans Volkswagen (315 w lancaster Ave, devon, PA 19333 (610) 687-0700) where it was diagnosed with a fractured clock spring that needed replacement. The vehicle was not repaired due to the cost. The dealer informed the contact that the vehicle was serviced in January per NHTSA campaign number: 15v483000 (air bags). The manufacturer was notified and confirmed that the vehicle was serviced per a clock spring recall. No further assistance was offered. The contact stated that she did not recall receiving a recall notification for the clock spring. The failure mileage was approximately 90,000.

4 Steering problem

Failure Date: 12/15/2016

Clock spring recall recently my airbag light went on and when I make a turn with a steering wheel rotation of over 270* my horn will go off, I also only have intermittent use of the steering wheel controls to my instrumentation. There is a recall on the year and make of my car for the clock spring, however my VIN is not included. The signs point to a defective clock spring to which I lost the functionality of my airbag and the electronic functionality of my steering wheel. I called vw service department and they said my vehicle is not covered under the recall so there is no need to bring it in. I really don't feel safe operating this vehicle considering there has been an open recall involving the takata recall for well over a year. (vw told me that they will contact me when parts are available to fix). This happened when I made a left turn into a parking spot, the airbag light when on and it said "service airbag".

5 Steering problem

Failure Date: 11/30/2016

While driving my vehicle, I heard a low pop, the vehicle would not turn and collided with 4 other parked vehicles. Upon inspecting my car after the incident, the right front wheel was completely unhinged from the vehicles steering and suspension system. Vehicle towed to body shop and upon further inspection in the day time, the entire lower and upper control arm had completely failed. The right front axle was ripped from the steering knuckle, a part of the lower control arm where the bushing would be was broken. The entire right front suspension system had basically collapsed, causing me to loose control of the vehicle's steering system. This vehicle is serviced at ourisman Volkswagen of rockville MD. They did not notify me that this was an issue. The vehicle did not exhibit signs that there was a potential problem with the suspension system such as vibrations in the front end. There would be an occasional clunk heard when reversing, but was told that was from the engine moving in the subframe and the remedy would be to install subframe bolts.

6 Steering problem

Failure Date: 09/01/2016

Takata recall. Steering wheel still clicking. And engine light on for emission issue, which goes on only when turning and eventually goes back off.

7 Steering problem

Failure Date: 06/18/2015

Vehicle makes a grinding and creaking sound from steering assembly. I am aware of several other vw/Audi models (a4, Cc, passat, jetta, gti) experiencing the same issue. Volkswagen is aware of this issue and has refused to put out a recall or fix the issue under warranty or good will. As per dealer recommendation, if the issue goes unfixed could result in a fatal accident due to potentially losing complete steering without any warning. Was told by dealership that I need to replace the whole steering assembly. The vehicle is barely 5yrs old and less than 70k miles. I have found several online posts in forums from drivers who have experienced similar if not more catastrophic incidents where they lost complete steering control (found in various vw/Audi forums). When turning steering wheel to left or right, there is a groan, grinding or whirring sound emitting from the steering assembly; there is also the occasional popping sounding from either left or right, depending on direction and angle of steering input. There is also a creaking sound that can be heard from the right / passenger wheel when traveling at low to moderate speeds. Will also experience vibration or noticeable feedback in steering wheel at highway speeds (50mph +) similar to tie-rod end links going bad. Or will feel noticeable feed back while taking a slow corner when wheel is held or turned to left (as in getting on or off an exit ramp). I have filed a complaint with vw but they will not resolve or help contribute to the repairs claiming that vehicle is out of warranty. However, steering systems should not fail in such an early stage of a vehicle's life unless workmanship and quality are sub-par.
