1 Power Train problem of the 2012 Volkswagen CC

Failure Date: 05/01/2024

I was driving on the highway and out of no where it threw its self into neutral and the gear indicator was flashing with a wrench and it can move for like 5 mins then does it again was told the whole mechtrnical in the transmission.

2 Power Train problem of the 2016 Volkswagen CC

Failure Date: 01/06/2023

When I put my car in drive (to move forward) from a cold start, the vehicle hesitates, does not respond to the accelerator pedal, and does not move. During this time, the transmission does not engage, and the vehicle shakes and produces a loud clunking sound from underneath. After that faulty start, the vehicle operates normally, until the next cold start (vehicle is at rest for 30 or more minutes). Here is an example that shows the danger of this situation. When I back out onto my street, and I put the car in drive, a driver behind me expects me to move. That driver is not expecting a stationary car (stalled, in park, or anything else like the situation I am describing). That creates a safety issue because the driver behind me may not slow down. That driver could then collide with my stationary vehiclle. That could result in injuries or loss of life, to me, or to the driver or passengers in the car that hit me. I spoke to a vw dealer about this, cherry hill Volkswagen. They looked up information, and then replied to me "that's normal for that vehicle". The problem is this. That's not normal for any vehicle. That's a bad answer. I have been driving for 50 years, and I have never had any vehicle that performed this way, and I don't know anyone who has. That means it's not normal. If the dealer said "many drivers who own the same vehicle as you do have reported the same problem", that makes it a frequently occurring problem. It does not make it normal. Because the dealer did not acknowledge a problem, there has been no effort to correct it. - if every driver who purchased a 2016 vw Cc encountered this problem, then every one of those vehicles should have been recalled so that Volkswagen could repair the problem. - if some of the vehicles that were purchased had the problem and others did not, that proves that it is a correctable problem. If NHTSA is aware of this problem and has not directed Volkswagen to correct it, then you are not doing your job.

3 Power Train problem of the 2015 Volkswagen CC

Failure Date: 11/30/2020

Dealer states forward clutch and dual mass flywheel needs replacement based on diagnosis and mechanic experience as they cannot "check" these parts. They also state I need to replace injectors and have a "manual decarbon" procedure due to the direct injection system creating carbon deposits. These are apparently well known issue with this and similar vw models. The car has <100,000 miles and is 5 years old. These are not maintenance items per se and fall under the category of defective components/systems. Vw has extended the warranty on these transmissions for previous model years for many models but not on this one yet. Internet searches reveal many complaints of the same problems. The cost for repairs is $5,600.

4 Power Train problem of the 2012 Volkswagen CC

Failure Date: 09/28/2020

Oil pressure change indicated on dashboard stating, "low oil pressure", the indicator then went out and the 2012 vw Cc 2. 0 tsi shut off while driving on the interstate at a speed of approximately 45 miles a hour. The vehicle was restarted and moved of the interstate under its own power, but was idling rough and stalled. The vehicle will not start now. The code pulled from this vehicle now read, p0300, p0302, p0341, p000a, p0016, p0304, p0301, p0011, p0506.

5 Power Train problem of the 2013 Volkswagen CC

Failure Date: 07/09/2019

While driving in rush hour traffic at 43 to 50 mph, vehicle suddenly loss ability to move while engine was still running, (like it had been switched to neutral). The engine just revved as the car came to a stop on the highway without warning. The park brake light came on and the drive indicator light started flashing. This was a very unsafe condition while other drivers were blowing and yelling at me for blocking traffic. After sitting for about 7 to 10 minutes the vehicle was restarted and drove normally.

6 Power Train problem of the 2012 Volkswagen CC

Failure Date: 06/08/2019

Tl the contact owns a 2012 Volkswagen Cc. The contact stated that when the gears were shifted, an abnormal grinding sound was heard. The contact also stated that the vehicle idled before accelerating and the service transmission warning indicator illuminated. The vehicle was driven to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that a megatronic module needed to be installed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and advised the contact to bring the vehicle to a dealer to be repaired at her expense since the VIN was not included in a recall. The dealer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 150,000.

7 Power Train problem of the 2012 Volkswagen CC

Failure Date: 06/05/2019

Tl the contact owns a 2012 Volkswagen Cc. While driving 70 mph, the vehicle downshifted into neutral on its own and the check engine warning indicator illuminated. The vehicle was taken to bozzani Volkswagen (located at 528 s citrus Ave, covina, CA 91723, (626) 921-5160) where it was diagnosed that the mechatronic unit needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified. The failure mileage was 140,798.

8 Power Train problem of the 2012 Volkswagen CC

Failure Date: 11/27/2018

My 2012 vw Cc is in the shop as I write this as it has been identified with a defective timing chain/tensioner. It was only a matter of time before my engine had catastrophic failure like the hundreds of others vw has acknowledged. My model is listed on the related vw settlement site as part of the affected models but yet my VIN has been apparently left out of the settlement so I have to pay on my own. No one can explain to me why my car is being excluded when it has the problem parts vw has conceded to. I think vw deliberately tampered with the numbers of the vehicles affected to cut down on settlement costs.

9 Power Train problem of the 2014 Volkswagen CC

Failure Date: 03/31/2018

In February of 2017, my vehicle stalled on a busy freeway while in motion and completely died, after towing the vehicle to the dealership they determined several parts needed to be replaced including mounting, bearing, c valve, ah separator, ribbedbelt, tensioner, c-gasket, d-gasket, seal ring and bolt. After driving the vehicle home again it died. I took it back to the dealership where they replaced the fuel pump module, washer and control unit. The car appeared to be driving fine the day I left, but the next morning it wouldn't start. I had the vehicle towed to the dealership in which they advised I needed a new battery. I kept up with all service and in January of 2018 while driving the vehicle, it stalled yet again while in motion, with vehicles almost striking me, after towing the vehicle to the dealership, they advised it was the fuel pump module again. They replaced the part. The car was driving fine until March 2018 when the vehicle stalled on the freeway while in motion. The dealership now states the bushings are cracked and dry rotted, and the mechatronic unit has failed and the vehicle now needs a new transmission.

10 Power Train problem of the 2010 Volkswagen CC

Failure Date: 02/23/2018

"takata recall" recently while I was driving on the highway, I slowed down to stop at a stop light but when the light turned green I proceeded to drive and my car was stalling and almost got hit from behind by an 18 wheeler. Now im afraid to drive my own car something needs to be done about this.

11 Power Train problem of the 2012 Volkswagen CC

Failure Date: 02/04/2018

Vehicle purchased with 112,000 miles. At 119,000 the car wouldn't start randomly after driving it all day. Vehicle was parked in my driveway and I was leaving to run an errand and it wouldn't start. There was no indication of any issue. No loud or uncommon noises, no dash lights signaling a problem - nothing! two days later I had it towed it to a local mechanic and he found a problem with timing chain and head gasket. We are still in the process of having it fully diagnosed, and a price estimate for repairs. I have done a lot of research which indicates this is a very common problem in Volkswagen models like mine. Volkswagen is also aware of the problem and refuses to do anything further about it.

12 Power Train problem of the 2012 Volkswagen CC

Failure Date: 01/29/2018

My car was dead while I was driving to a nearby usps. Later, I was told that the car's fuel pump was broken, which caused engine to stop running. That is something vw should have fixed long time ago because vw had it recalled for more than half year. They have so much time to make thing right, but they just chose to ignore it. I can't imagine if it happened in a interstate. Please urge them to fix the problem immediately. There are so many lives could be in danger. Now, I need to pay more than 1600 bucks to get it fixed. That is insane.

13 Power Train problem of the 2010 Volkswagen CC

Failure Date: 12/14/2017

Car has repeatedly had issues shifting into the proper gear. When attempting to shift into reverse, a loud clunking can be heard and the car suddenly switches to neutral without being able to engage any gears thereafter without the car first being restarted entirely. After researching and reaching out to vw of America, it seems many other owners of vws with the same transmission have had similar issues, some of which have been recalled previously by vw, including 2010 vw Ccs similar to mine. Vw of american has failed to see my car should fall within the parameters of the already issued recall and has advised me to file a report here. I am concerned this issue will potentially cause a failure at highway speeds and could be life threatening. Thank you.

14 Power Train problem of the 2010 Volkswagen CC

Failure Date: 11/20/2017

(lt dealer info inadequate) tl the contact owns a 2010 Volkswagen Cc. While the vehicle was idling at a traffic light, the accelerator pedal was depressed; however, the contact stated that the rpms increased to 3,500; however, the vehicle failed to accelerate. The contact stated that the gear shifter felt as if the vehicle shifted into sport mode. The drive icon illuminated. While attempting to depress the accelerator pedal again, the engine revved, but the vehicle failed to accelerate. The contact had to restart the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to Volkswagen where it was diagnosed that the transmission needed to be replaced; however, the dealer stated that the engine could not be taken apart. The vehicle was then taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the transmission needed to be replaced; however, the mechatronic control module was replaced. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The contact was provided a case number. The approximate failure mileage was 80,000.

15 Power Train problem of the 2010 Volkswagen CC

Failure Date: 11/06/2017

Dsg transmission: the car has been "slipping" while driving, will slip into neutral and fail on the highway. When stationary, sometimes won't go in reverse, just flashes r, when I put it in reverse. Can turn it off, turn it back on and it'll run ok. Vw has extended warranty on 2010 dsg, but is not covering my VIN.

16 Power Train problem of the 2011 Volkswagen CC

Failure Date: 09/01/2017

They sentido me a letter.

17 Power Train problem of the 2010 Volkswagen CC

Failure Date: 07/20/2017

After coming to a stop, when foot is removed from the brake, the car dangerously lurches forward, sometimes several times before normal driving can continue. This problem was documented by vw and they extended the warranty/fix up to 10 years/100,000 for some vehicles (appears manufactured up to 2009?). They would not cover this vehicle under the special extended warranty.

18 Power Train problem of the 2011 Volkswagen CC

Failure Date: 11/07/2016

2011 vw sport Cc - less than 52,000 miles. Stalls while driving on the interstate. Dealer advised timing chain issues and while repairing the engine they had to replace unreliable parts. Known issue but none under recall. They said a screen shattered in the engine, a known issue is what caused all of this. All manufacturing error. Customer care admitted that and so did the dealer service department. Quote $1400. Then the next day they they "discovered" the car needed a new cam shaft. New quote $2200. Nothing under warranty/recall . Vw customer care told me to save my receipts incase a recall comes about but did not care about the safety of the car or the fact they are replacing unreliable parts. If they know they are unreliable why are they not on recall. Wrote a letter to the ceo and got the cost reduced to $1400. Receipt shows one price no break down of costs and was told I could not have the parts back, even though I just paid $1400 for them. I have no idea what was under warranty or recall or was it all labor cost. Vw does not care about their customers. And by the way the air bag is still not repaired, that is under recall. Safety in vw - zero.

19 Power Train problem of the 2010 Volkswagen CC

Failure Date: 09/22/2016

On the highway I was changing lanes to get off to an exit and my car loss power. It was the scariest thing ever as I had no control over the car anymore other than steering. Fortunately there wasn't that heavy of traffic so I pulled over and turned the car off then on and the flashing d that was on my screen had steadied and I was able to drive home. Only to have the same thing happen again the very next day.

20 Power Train problem of the 2013 Volkswagen CC

Failure Date: 08/24/2016

I own a 2013 vc Cc with about 76,000 miles on it. Car is an excellent condition and is still pretty new when suddenly my car began to shut off while driving. There were no progression of problems. The issue occurred suddenly. While driving on the road or while stationary at a red light, all the sudden while attempting to accelerate, the car would begin jerking and the engine would just rev up as if the car was in neutral position until eventually shutting off and parking and engine indicator lights would turn on. If I was stopped at a light in drive position, the parking light would suddenly turn on and I would have no mobility of the vehicle. The car would still be on, but would not move. I would have to position it in park, restart the vehicle and it would jump start before the same problem occurred again and again and again. After taking it to the dealer, I was informed that I would have to replace the mechatronic unit, which is basically the computer that controls the transmission. Replacement costs were $1800. They were generally unsure of why a new vehicle would have these issues, mentioning it may have been water damage from street flooding or moisture getting into the unit. Either way I feel in a brand new car, these issues should not be occurring and are extremely dangerous if I had been driving on a highway and then the vehicle suddenly shuts off.

21 Power Train problem of the 2010 Volkswagen CC

Failure Date: 07/01/2016

Tl the contact owns a 2010 Volkswagen Cc. While driving approximately 50 mph, the vehicle dropped into a lower gear without warning. The vehicle was taken to mcminnville Volkswagen (1920 or-99w, mcminnville, or 97128, (503) 472-4658) where it was diagnosed that the transmission needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and did not assist. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 100,000.

22 Power Train problem of the 2010 Volkswagen CC

Failure Date: 06/04/2016

I own a 2010 Volkswagen Cc with a dsg transmission. While the vehicle is in park, it shifts independently from drive to neutral. It has happened several times, including while driving on the highway. The dealer failed to diagnose the problem and simply recommended I replace the transmission. At a cost of $5400. I escalated the issue with vw of America and they were no help . They agreed that they are unable to diagnose the case and that only remedy is a new transmission . . I think this is a vw dsg transmission coverup, just like tdi emmissions car has approximately 84,000 miles.

23 Power Train problem of the 2010 Volkswagen CC

Failure Date: 02/04/2016

Automatic transmission lurches/clunks when starting from a stopped position. This presents a safety issue as it can accelerate for a short period without the ability to stop the car. From internet research, this is a common a important safety issue with vw dsg transmissions. Literally 100s of complaints online. Please, please research this issue. Vw claims the car is "operating in spec" - anyone driving with me in the car is shocked and wonders what is wrong with the car. This happens all the time, but there are occasions when is goes away.

24 Power Train problem of the 2009 Volkswagen CC

Failure Date: 11/23/2015

Went to have car service with oil change and upon leaving car was riding rough and found out that a rear main seal had broke on the engine. Had over 12 codes that showed up. After they fixed that problem got fix, the car was towed to a vw dealership where they diagnose the car with slipping of the time chain. This a horrible and I looked online with over a 100 complaints about this issue with the vw Cc and surprise that their isn't a recall on the car. Its a major issue that needs to be looked at immediately.

25 Power Train problem of the 2010 Volkswagen CC

Failure Date: 07/05/2015

Takata recall my dsg is faulty I am having a few codes pop up I'm cooking my vehicle to a Volkswagen dealer to get my faulty airbag recall fix and they never told me that the dsg was on a recall. I was driving on the highway and my car gear started flashing and I lost power and nearly got into an accident.

26 Power Train problem of the 2010 Volkswagen CC

Failure Date: 03/19/2015

Car would not start but battery was good. Issue seems to be localized to the transmission as it eventually started after messing around with the shift lever. After starting I was unable to shift out of park and I think this is a sensor locking the shiftier.

27 Power Train problem of the 2010 Volkswagen CC

Failure Date: 12/14/2014

The car will jerk at low gears. The transmission will jam when going from drive to any other gear. When transmission jams, car acts like if it was in neutral, the "d" for drive starts flashing on the dashboard and the car wont move. The transmission will sometimes jam on first gear and wont shift up or down. I must turn off and on the car for the transmission to start working again. The issues always happen at low speeds or when going from drive to reverse.

28 Power Train problem of the 2010 Volkswagen CC

Failure Date: 07/15/2014

The contact owns a 2010 Volkswagen Cc. While the vehicle was in park, it moved independently. In addition, the gear would shift from drive to neutral independently. The contact had to restart the vehicle in order for it to function correctly. The failure recurred times five times. The vehicle was towed to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 82,000.

29 Power Train problem of the 2009 Volkswagen CC

Failure Date: 10/01/2013

When I first bought my vw Cc it was very smooth and worked relatively well. After a while it really got rough, when I start moving from a complete stop, the car jerks back and forth one or two times roughly. This happens on an uphill or downhill. Also the car slams into first gear really hard when slowing down to a complete stop, making passengers bodies shift forward from momentum. It fells like I slammed on to the brakes. Also sometimes from a stop when I put my foot on the gas, the car hesitates before slamming into first gear after two or three seconds of not responding to my throttle input. This has me scared on a couple of times of instances because I almost got into a rear end collision from someone who is not paying attention or simply because no one expects a car to stop all of a sudden after starting to roll after a complete stop, and almost slamming into the back of my car. Luckily I knew that my car had this characteristic so I reacted quickly enough to accelerate on time to get out of their way. From what I understand this is a problem with the mechatronics unit and many people have had success fixing the problem by getting a replacement mechatronics unit installed. Almost everyone I have met with the same car has experienced the same problem I do. Something needs to be done to correct this unsafe and very annoying issue or people are going to end in the hospital due to a rear end collision or even worse. It can cause really serious damage.

30 Power Train problem of the 2009 Volkswagen CC

Failure Date: 09/12/2013

On 9/12/13 while driving on the highway without any warning the car loss engine power, would not accelerate and shut off in the middle of the highway. The battery light did come on once the car shut off. I was unable to restart the car to move off the highway. I immediately turned on the hazards and kept my foot on the brakes so cars would not crash into me. The car still had full power with all controls (radio, power windows, ac, lights, etc. ). The vehicle was towed to a local vw dealer and diagnosed as a defective low pressure fuel pump and fuel control module, $850 repair. The service advisor stated this is a common problem with the Cc's (direct injection). The repairs were completed by the vw dealer on 09/13/13. On 09/18/13 five days later and less than 100 miles after the low pressure fuel pump & module was replaced; while commuting from work the check engine light came on and the car immediately lost engine power, would not accelerate and shut off in rush hour traffic. Again it was towed back to vw and this time diagnosed as defective high pressure fuel pump and control module, for another $850 in repairs. On 09/21/13 I contacted vw of America online and made a formal complaint; twice in one week the vehicle has shut off in traffic, with no warning, endangering my life and the lives of others. The vw dealer is playing a guessing game with diagnosing the problem. The vw dealer also contacted vw of America on my behalf with the problems and concerns with the vehicle. Vw offered to cover the parts and I paid the labor $200+. The repairs were completed on 9/25/13 by vw, I drove the car home less than 25 miles and the car started to sputter and the check engine light came on. I immediately called the vw dealer and was told to bring the car back. 3 times in two weeks, the car is back to the vw dealer and they can't fix the problem. This is a real safety problem.

31 Power Train problem of the 2009 Volkswagen CC

Failure Date: 08/05/2013

Sticking throttle. . Throttle sticks at any rpm above 2300. I am glad that this is a standard shift automobile where I can engage the clutch to stop the car. If this were an automatic shift car, there would have been an accident. Throttle continues to stick even without any floor mats in close proximity of the throttle peddle. Placing toe behind throttle peddle to lower rpm has no effect whatsoever. .

32 Power Train problem of the 2009 Volkswagen CC

Failure Date: 08/04/2013

I was having problems with my Cc after I brought from a dealership for 18 days, when I was driving at one night at a speed of 60mph, while driving it seems fine but after 7 minutes, the car has no response while I stepped on the gas pedal, the engine light and battery light showed up, rpm and speed slow down rapidly. I pull over and I restart the car and continue for another 400 yards and car die, I have it towed to dealership next morning and they found out the car has a bad fuel pump and bad fuel intake and has to replace for $1500.

33 Power Train problem of the 2010 Volkswagen CC

Failure Date: 07/15/2013

Dsg clutches are stated to be worn out at 64k and need replacement for $2,013 dollars. Service states known issue with dsg tranmission but manufacturer and dealer refuses to cover cost for "known issue. " meanwhile china has huge recall on dsg transmission and giving 10 year warranty?? anyone watching and listening? china leads the USA in safety and consumer recalls. . . Really? car lurches backward in reverse causing safety issue for people and property behind car. Also, if car parked on side of cliff car could lurch over said cliff killing all in car.

34 Power Train problem of the 2010 Volkswagen CC

Failure Date: 06/03/2013

The contact owns a 2010 Volkswagen Cc. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, there was a sudden decrease in speed and the vehicle failed to accelerate as the gear selector warning light flashed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who diagnosed that the mechatronic control unit needed to be replaced.
