I have replaced my clock spring twice in 3 years, at the same dealership, southeast vw in santa ana, CA. My steering wheel will make a noise and all controls will stop working and airbag light will turn on. I brought my car in for the airbag recall and they are now stating the clock spring is broken and are wanting to charge me $541.
Tl-the contact owns a 2010 Volkswagen Eos. The contact stated that while parking the vehicle, the steering wheel seized without warning. The failure recurred two times the vehicle was not taken to a dealer or diagnosed. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure and the VIN was included in NHTSA campaign number: 15v483000 (steering) however, the part to do the repair was unavailable. The failure mileage was approximately 43,000. Parts distribution disconnect. Sg.
