Automatic Transmission problems of the 1998 Volkswagen Golf

Three problems related to automatic transmission have been reported for the 1998 Volkswagen Golf. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Automatic Transmission problem

Failure Date: 08/22/2000

Transmission has locked into 3rd gear with out warning. This has caused a lack performance. Almost caused an accident due to the car not acelerating as expected.

2 Automatic Transmission problem

Failure Date: 10/26/1998

When pulling out the rpms reached up to 40,000 before transmission was shifted to the next gear and this is an automatic transmission. Dealer has been contacted.

3 Automatic Transmission problem

The vehicle's transmission would not shift from 2nd to 3rd gear. As a result the vehicle could not be driven more than 40 mph. Please provide any additional information.
