One problem related to brake foundation components has been reported for the 1999 Volkswagen Golf. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
While driving on a local highway, the brakes failed when attempting an emergency stop. Subsequent investigation concluded that hot exhaust gases where blowing on a brake valve which caused the brakes to fail. Exhuast system was rusted out and the valve is situated near the hole in the system.
