The chrome plastic trim coating on the start/stop button and also the steering wheel have peeled and are razor sharp. I cut myself badly on both pieces on my right fore fingertip and middle ring finger. I try to avoid placing my hand accross the horn of the steering wheel since this happened, but the trim there is very dangerously sharp. There is a recall on the same trim on 2017 cars (service action 34l9), but the vw dealer told me there was not on my vehicle.
Thermostat/water pump housing leaking coolant at 20,000 miles. No damage to vehicle that caused this, seems to be a common issue with vw Golfs. The repair is out of pocket and the dealership which sold me the car only a year ago is quoting $1600.
Discovered several inches of water in the spare tire boot area. The entire back seat was also soaked through. Water appears to be leaking into the car from rear pressure vents behind the bumper or from another undetermined source, posing risks including black mold and damage to the spare tire.
My airbag light came on today as I was backing out of a parking space (7/29/22 and mileage 235845), and this was after plastic creaking/cracking noises coming from my steering wheel for quite a while when I turned it. The frequency and amount of noise when I turned the wheel had increased a lot lately. This is the second time this exact thing has happened - I had to replace the clock spring in the steering wheel once before (3/19/19 at milage 154165). While I know I drive a lot, it’s mostly straight on the interstate since I live in a rural area, so I am not turning the wheel constantly. I’m hesitant about if it’s worth it to spend money on replacing it since the last time it was almost $800, and has now broken again, only 80k miles later. I know that earlier years of vws had this part recalled and I am wondering if that should have extended to 2015s - although I’m not sure what good that would do me since the replacement one I had installed at the dealer also broke.
When I switch the key to turn on the car it does turn on and it says starting system error on the dashboard car runs ok it’s just that it keep saying that and I think there is something wrong with the ignition switch that Volkswagen should address. Thank you!.
The frame and track of the sun roof has developed a crack. It is available for inspection upon request. Because the frame/track developed a crack in the structural material, I can hear it rattling when I drive, which tells me it is loose. A loose sun roof structural system is not good, as driving on a freeway / highway at a higher speed could possibly cause the sun roof to become detached and fly off of the vehicle, or dislodge enough to distract the driver. Another secondary problem that has happened because of this loose, cracked sun roof track/frame, is that water has now been leaking into the car (possibly causing mold and condensation which has fogged up the windshield while driving) and slippery conditions all over the track/frame. This water drips through the overhead electrical panel, the headliner and down into the speakers. This can cause an electrical shortage in the vehicle, or shock. Water dripping into the car while driving on a rainy day on the freeway, can cause major distraction to the driver in dangerous conditions. The vehicle and sun roof issue have been inspected by the vw dealer, auto shop, and insurance. The vw dealer did tell me they have this issue often for these same models (they were fixing one as I was talking to them) and I have seen lawsuits online for this same issue. The car has never warned me about this issue, there are no warning lamps or messages pertaining to this. Nothing has ever severely impacted the car to cause this problem (it has never been in an accident). Please note, I have not used / opened / activated / operated this sun roof since this issue began back in December 2021. Car insurance has offered to pay for a new headliner, but not for sun roof repair. The lifetime warranty has declined to pay for the repair because water has been involved (even though water is a secondary issue to the initial issue of a crack developing in the sun roof track/frame under normal dry warm conditions).
We purchased our vw Golf tdi (3vw2a7au6fm047598) in January 2015 and have now had to replace the clock spring three times. The first two times were covered under the 69l2 limited warranty(see attached bills) but our car now has 128,000 miles and is considered ineligible. We do not understand why our model year was not included under the unlimited warranty extension as part of the 69l2 campaign. When a major component fails three times over a six year period, there is obviously something wrong with it that has not been addressed. Our teenage son drives the car and it is unsafe to have life-saving components like the airbag and horn fail on a regular basis.
Steering wheel started clicking when turned. Airbag light came on.
Thermostat.
The clockspring broke about 1 year ago I had it replaced. It broke again last week. The airbag is disabled as is the horn and cruise control.
Error: service vehicle. Only leave vehicle in p position. This warning light comes on intermittently while driving for only a second or two. It occurs both highway and city driving. This has been going on since November 2018. Dealer says to ignore. Internet groups indicate a common problem with 2015 vw Golf. Shifter problem that vw is not adressing. .
I don't know what type of airbags they are, I've had to have my clutch replaced, waterpump and thermostat and my heater cores, now my coolant hose has gone out all this in let than 3 months and I have also had to replace, rotors two times in two years it's got to be some wrong I take good care of my car it only have 72686 miles on it.
Was reaching across front console when metal trim near shifter seems to be released and acted like a razor blade cutting my hand severely.
When I start my car in the morning the code error service vehicle. Only leave vehicle in p position! it goes away but flashes again as I'm driving down the highway or a regular road or turning either right or left. The error message comes on and just as quickly goes away, only to return again in minutes or hours.
Premature clutch failure at 32,000 miles (this car already had two defective parts at 9,000 miles - the timing chain cover and oil level sensor. ) car started making screeching noise when driving, had it towed to dealer who said it wasn't making any sound when they drove it, and they didn't see anything wrong. One week later, burning smell from vents, now dealer says clutch has failed.
The car makes noises when going over bumps or around corners as the body rolls back and forth I think it is the recall that was issued # 10122609 about the seats and a gap between a tab and the seat frame. My car was not included in this recall. It should have been included.
Steering column control mechanism, air bag sensor, lock mechanism. Saw an article posted last week about previous recall not resolving a know issue with airbags that affects the steering column. I just had to pay $641. 10 to have this repaired. If this is something that vw should have had to pay for I would love to be able to recoup my money.
As I was turning my steering wheel, I heard a crinkle sound and the air bag light came on. I realized later that I could no longer honk the horn. When I brought my car in for service, the clock spring was replaced, however the exact same problem happened again within weeks. I cannot honk my horn and I am concerned that my air bag will not deploy in the case of an emergency.
Parked car in driveway, in the morning panoramic sunroof was completely shattered. Not an attempted break in, it appears spontaneous, like pressure built up in the glass made it explode or burst.
1st incident in January 2016i was driving on highway and construction barrell rolled across highway. My forward collision warning system did not activate; I had to hit the barrell; lots of damage to my car; the bosch radar warning system is held in place with plastic and it broke off during collision. 2nd incident,April 2016 hit a rubber cone that had fallen out of a truck on the highway. The warning system sensor broke off again. When I purchased the car new, I paid extra for the expensive $1,000 +driver assistance package with forward collision warning system. It has not only failed me twice, it breaks easily because a piece of plastic holds it in place. I have looked around and have not seen any other cars where this important sensor is positioned so openly and is so vulnerable to being hit by small objects and breaking and not making the car respond. This poorly designed safety device is very fragile. Even the volkswagon dealership agreed that it is a poor design and the collision warning system will only work if there is to be a collision with another car. This important safety device breaks off too easily. Did not have police report for first incident, but had insurance claim. . Police report number for the second incident is 16-011613 (durham, n. C. ). The part I am most concerned about bosch, radar sensor, 5q0907561f.
The first time, backing out of a parking space in parking lot started to go forward and the car just shut off on its own. It has done this several times leaving me in in harms way trying to pull out into traffic it just shuts off arbitrarily no telling when its going to happen. Also have had people in the car with me when it has happened. [ kinda like playing russian roulette ] have had it to the dealers three times inside of 2300 and they have found nothing. First time 1 day second time 7 days, more than likely 3 or 4 more days at dealer now. Three of the times happened just starting to pull out on to the street. One in a parking space backed out started to go and it died. One time turning on city streets . To me might be fuel pump or something electrical.
Car has shut down after stopping 4 times now starting in June of this year last incident was 11 sept 2015 took to kalamazoo vw service did not find any fault codes also key fob will not unlock car within range or not start vehicle will state key fob not in range when trying to start with key in car.
Unsafe 110n sr-43 off ramp.
I'm a driver who drive this car when I tried to turn left the vehicle has airbag pop up and the car was stopped and hit when im off the freeway.
Inside windows in the winter at different temperatures frost over after sitting. I have to scrap my windshield , vw dealership told me it is built that way. Jay the service manager told me other 2015 models do the same thing and there is nothing wrong with my car.
