One problem related to manifold/header/muffler/tail pipe has been reported for the 2001 Volkswagen GTI. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
My intake manifold change over valve are rattling. Although I have a 10 yr "drive train" warranty vw told me that the manifold is covered in the warranty but the "inside components" are not. Even worse the vw mechanic said that "this is common with the vr6 engines. " this should not be allowed to happen.
