Two problems related to engine and engine cooling have been reported for the 2010 Volkswagen GTI. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 04/30/2021

The contact owns a 2010 Volkswagen Gti. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the check engine warning light illuminated and the vehicle started jerking and failed to properly accelerate while depressing the accelerator pedal. The vehicle was examined by an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the intake manifold was faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The local dealer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 67,000.

2 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 12/22/2012

We purchased and we were servicing our vw Gti 2010 at autobarn mt. Prospect/IL. In the last 2 years we replaced all ignition coils at different time intervals and twice for cylinder #2. There are actually multiple issues here. First, this kind of problem can easily generate an accident, if one ignition coil fails at the wrong time and the wrong place (when passing or driving on a mountain road). Second, the ignition coils are poorly designed and they go bad way too fast making the car undriveable. Costly towing was required almost every time. Third, the vw dealership should advise customers to replace all coils in the same time at the first sign of trouble. Instead they choose to replace them one by one, charging between $180. 00 and $220. 00 every time just for labor, when the part itself costs just $32. 00 and the level of difficulty for this task is very low.
