Manifold/header/muffler/tail Pipe problems of the 2013 Volkswagen GTI

Two problems related to manifold/header/muffler/tail pipe have been reported for the 2013 Volkswagen GTI. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Manifold/header/muffler/tail Pipe problem

Failure Date: 11/01/2019

Intake manifold was replaced under warranty in 2015. In late 2019 the vehicle displayed a service engine warning which turned out to be the intake manifold again. Out of warranty the service cost me in excess of $1000. I see the warranty was extended on older years for the same exact reason but not the 2013. This needs to be remedied as soon as possible.

2 Manifold/header/muffler/tail Pipe problem

Failure Date: 11/03/2016

Vehicle displaying mil light @ 68,948 miles. Dealer diagnosis:to correct fault, requires replacement of intake manifold assembly & fuel filter, recommended cleaning of intake valves while the intake manifold was removed.
