The car stalls when either driving very slowly or stopped. I bought it Wednesday, July 10th. It first stalled yesterday, while I was in neutral at a stop light. Today it stalled four more times. Three times in a parking lot and once at a stop light. The car had normal engine temperature. When it stalls it's so quiet and subtle that it's difficult to notice. Each time the vehicle was stationary and in neutral. I entered several issues, as I'm unsure what is actually affected.
The gear indicator often shows the wrong gear than the car is physically in, on a 6 speed manuel transmission. This could be related to the other issue of the vehicle stalling with the clutch pushed all the way in. Mostly happens when slowing down, or coming up to a stoplight.
Car will stall every other day or so. May also stall twice in one day. Seems to be more common when its warmer out. It stalls in neutral or in gear with clutch depressed when slowing down to a stop. Already had it to the dealer twice. Still stalls.
This razor blade sharp chrome trim near the shift nob and the small storage compartment is cutting my finger up every time I tried getting something out of the small compartment. This has already happened to me three times already while driving, it's like a paper cut and you look down to find a cut with blood dripping out of your finger. It is extremely dangerous when you are driving on the road when this happen, Volkswagen should have a recall on this chrome trim piece for the safety of all Gti owners period. I'm not the only one with this problem, many mk7 Gti owners are experiencing the same issue.

Car has under 200 miles. Engine repeatedly turns off once stationary, at stops, such as intersections, yield zones, and freeway on and off ramps with traffic lights or stop signs. The engine turns off without warning or notifications, and has to be restarted by driver. Unknown components/systems. Taken to vw service center, was road tested, and they were unable to duplicate complaint and noted vw corp had advised resets.
The car stalls randomly when coming to a stop in 2nd gear with the clutch fully depressed. The engine idles correctly as I'm coming to a stop, I depress the clutch fully, idle remains stable, when the car comes to a full stop, the engine shuts off. The car is 4 days old and has 360 miles on the odometer.
The vehicle stalls when coming to a stop, or a few seconds after stopping, either in gear with the clutch pedal fully depressed or in neutral. The behavior is not consistent but can be reproduced after several attempts.
Car stalling at low speed. Needs to be restarted.
While coming to a stop in an empty parking lot, the car suddenly stalled while the clutch was fully depressed and the car was in 1st gear. A few minutes later, the car stalled again as it was coming to a stop while the clutch was fully depressed and the car was in first gear. Both times the car was going no faster than 5 mph. About 15 minutes later the car left the parking lot and went onto a road and upon coming up to the red light and slowing down, the car stalled while the clutch was fully depressed and the car was in neutral. The three examples mentioned above of the car stalling, all happened on the exact same day the car was purchased. The vehicle was purchased brand new with about 33 miles on it. The three stalling incidents all happened when the car reached about 50-60 miles.
The car is randomly stalling when coming to a stop. It has happened 4 times so far since taking delivery of the vehicle on 5/24. Each time so far it has happened in parking lots, it is so subtle its like the auto start/stop technology some cars have although this one is not equipped with that. Each time I had the clutch fully depressed while the car was in neutral.
The car keeps shutting off when coming to a stop.
The car will randomly stall when coming to a stop. As of 5/23, the car has 1,030 miles on it. It happened a few times at about 400-500 miles and then it went away, but recently it has been happening a few times a day. This happens intermittently while coming to a stop either already in neutral, and it has also happened while rolling to a stop with the clutch depressed. It is not your typical stall, there is no jerkiness and the engine just silently shuts down. Would be hard to notice if eyes are not on the rpm, it just dies and hits 0 rpm.
The trim around the dsg shifter has deteriorated and has left behind several very sharp edges. Cuts on fingers and hands happen frequently when using the shifter normally to change gears. Trim at the base of the shifter has also deteriorated, commonly causing cuts when using the storage compartment just in front of the shifter. This vehicle has limited miles and has predominately been stored in a garage.
Vehicle died when stopping at red light in evening rush hour. There was no shutter with the engine shutoff. Did not notice engine was off and when attempted to accelerate from a stand still, I noticed the vehicle was off. This happened half a mile later at an additional stop light. There were no warning or lights on the dashboard.
The engine stalls when you have the car in neutral and the car is coming to a stop while pressing the brake. Today it happen 5 times and the dealership is. Clueless about this problem.
Coming to a stop, clutch all the way in, the car will stall. It is not your typical "jumpy" driver error stall, but rather it feels as if the engine just shuts down. Its very subtle and the only way you even know its happening is that you see your rpms drop off. Always happening when coming to a stop. Difficult to bring the problem to the dealer because it is difficult to reproduce on command.
Engine stalling in low speed.
Peeling trim between the center console and shifter is razor sharp and has cut my skin multiple times. In the picture it is the chrome part.
I purchased a 2019 Gti s on March 30th 2019 and in one week's time I stalled out 7 times. 3 of those 7 times were when I was at a complete stop, in neutral with my foot on the brake only (not on the clutch). The other 4 times were in 2nd gear at low speeds between 8 and 10 mph when I was either pulling into a driveway or going over a long but low and not aggressive speed bump. The stall would happen when I would depress the clutch, not on the release.
White 2019 rabbit edition 6mt, build date of 10/18, purchased 4/6/19. Issue began the day of purchase with less than 100 miles on the car. The vehicle will frequently stall when the clutch is fully depressed shortly before coming to a stop. The stall is uncharacteristic of other stalls due to driver error, as it can barely be felt through the car. This has happened when the car is both in gear and out of gear while the clutch is depressed. Once the car stalls, it must be restarted by pressing the ignition button again. After the engine is restarted, the car will resume normal driving operation until it stalls while coming to a stop again. The stalling only seems to occur when the car is at operating temperature. The car has been at the dealer for diagnostics twice, both times having no results. A vw tech was able to replicate the issue, but was unable to find its source.
The vehicle has stalled on multiple occasions. Most of the occurrences have been when coming to a stop on city streets. It does not matter if the clutch is pressed all the way in, or if vehicle is in neutral. It is a very quiet stall, no dash lights come on, and steering wheel locks. The vehicle has to be started again, as if it was never running. It is unknown what is causing the issue.
The silver metal trim that borders the gear shifter has started to peel away from the plastic base trim underneath. This is a design flaw and was done because it is cheaper to make a flat metal plate and just glue it on top of the base plate than it is to make an edge that rolls over and down the side of the base plate it is glued to. So in essence when it separates, it's basically a razor blade edge because it is so thin. My wife has cut her hand open on this as have several other people on forums so this appears to be a common issue.

Every time I use the rear windshield wiper, a cascade of washer fluid seeps on the front passenger side on the floor mat. I've only had the vehicle for 1 month. Also, I've notice every time it rains, the ceiling on my Gti gets very wet due to a leak possibly because of the sunroof. I'll provide a picture when it rains next time. This video shows the same exact thing what I'm experiencing. On the passenger side as well. The vehicle in the video is a 2016, mine is a 2015, but same issue and same location of the leak. . Since I have owned the car, it periodically stalls while in neutral. The car stutters and shuts off several times daily. I took the car in to service, and they were unable to correct the issue after 4 days.
My vehicle would stall out/engine would turn off randomly on its own from a stopped position and moving motion. Started in febuary 2019 - current - coming downhill in neutral to a light. When proceeding after it turned green, I noticed my engine was off. I then proceeded to the next light and the vehicle then cut off on its own again at the next light while in neutral with my foot on the brakes. My gas meter was at 1/3 tank and I proceeded to the nearest gas station after I restarted my vehicle. Afterwards, I went on the highway and was coming to a slow down due to traffic and switch my gear to neutral and pressed on the brakes and as soon as I was coming up to the car in front of me my vehicles engine shut off while I was coasting at 30-40mph. I was still in motion when it happened. I proceeded to restart my vehicle when it came to a full stop and called my dealer. - 2nd occurence happend when I was slowing down to make a right turn and had my foot on the clutch pedal going into 2nd from 3rd. My vehicles engine then cutoff again when my foot was still pressed into the clutch pedal. I had restarted the car while in motion to avoid incoming traffic to accelerate into the turn. - 3rd occurence happened again when I was in neutral coasting into my parking spot at my apartment, the engine cut itself off again. -4th occurence happened in a series, I was coming up to a parking spot in neutral and as I braked to a complete stop, my engine shut off. I restarted my vehicle and had it drift backwards in neutral, it had shut off again without my stick shift being in any gear slots. I then restarted my vehicle and had it in first gear to move into my parking space and after moving forward and then going into neutral to brake, the engine cut off again. - last instance was from a stopped position to a neutral coast leaving a parking lot, this happend twice.
Repeated hard knock coming from the front of the car when accelerating quickly from a dead stop. Suspected the engine mount and transmission mounts. Similar reports have been reported by other owners online. Noise does not occur once the car is in motion.
Sunroof shattered for no apparent reason. I was driving on a residential road and heard a loud "boom. " I looked up to see that the sunroof was completely shattered. The temperature was mild, there were no bumps on the road, no bridges nearby from which something could be thrown, and no sign of external impact to cause the breakage.

The metallic trim around the shifter boot gradually degrades causing sharp metallic edges to form. I have been caught on these edges a few times when shifting or reaching into the cubby. A few of the times bleeding from the cut has occurred. This same metallic finish seems to be on the start/stop button. The letters with sharp angles (a, mostly) bend up and stab the user when trying to start/stop the engine.
In the vw Gti there are various interior trim bits that are a plastic with a chrome plating on them. The issue with these are, that it eventually begins to detach itself from the plastic trim pieces and is extremely sharp like a razor blade. The reason for reporting it is that this has happened on multiple occasions with several pieces in my own personal vehicle both while the car is parked and in motion. Vw has a history of replacing these parts under warranty according to fellow owners, but this is a clear safety issue. The particular trim piece in question is right behind the gear shifter and in front of the cubby hole where one would plug in their media player or cellular phone any other various items used through out the day. This is a serious issue as it could very easily have sliced my wrist while I reached into the cubby to retrieve my phone. The frustrating part is this is not the first time this car has drawn blood during daily use. The engine start/stop button has, the gear shifter has and so has the steering wheel. It was only my thumb that was cut in the process, but it cut very deep like a razor blade would and it was a challenge to get it to stop bleeding even hours after. Now, the car was parked when this happened, but driving home certainly was a challenge with blood gushing from my thumb. This has happened to many people with the same vehicle according to many of the online sites that owners of these cars frequent. One was even a case where their very young child was reaching in the storage cubby for something and cut themselves rather badly on that piece of trim. If it can cut deeply like a razor blade, it is not implausible that it could have possibly cut their wrist and caused a much more serious injury. I have yet to report to vw myself, but, as this occurs to many owners, I feel it is my duty to insure it does not go unreported to NHTSA.
My car is displaying the same simptoms listed at sevice code 19k5 but vw is refusing to fix the problem. I talked to a representative from vw and she said my car is not included. Please any help or advise 407-790-5101. The water pump is leaking.

The "front assist" automatic forward collision warning and braking system randomly activates when driving, braking the car when there is nothing to trigger it. (this is occurring even on empty roads with no other vehicles in sight) the last occurrence was on an empty 4-lane suburban street. There were no other cars on the road. I was in the middle of a gentle curve in the road when the warning sound activated and the car braked.
Sunroof exploded while driving down the interstate.
Center console trim became unglued and sharp. Chrome surrounding the center storage peeled up and cut me several times before I had the piece replaced out of my wallet.
