1 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2019 Volkswagen GTI

Failure Date: 07/08/2019

Bought a new 2019 vw Gti 's' in 6 speed manual. The vehicle stalls and has stalled at least 10 times and I've had it for about a week. Its very concerning. I've made an appointment to take it in tomorrow, and I've called vw customer care to let them know. It happens while coming to a stop, has happened in the middle of the intersection. I see many others are having the exact same issue but vw is currently unwilling to acknowledge the problem. Sounds like many different parts have been replaced for various consumers to no avail. Most stories I've read have ended in vw buying back the lemons. . .

2 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2019 Volkswagen GTI

Failure Date: 05/24/2019

The car will randomly stall when coming to a stop. As of 5/23, the car has 1,030 miles on it. It happened a few times at about 400-500 miles and then it went away, but recently it has been happening a few times a day. This happens intermittently while coming to a stop either already in neutral, and it has also happened while rolling to a stop with the clutch depressed. It is not your typical stall, there is no jerkiness and the engine just silently shuts down. Would be hard to notice if eyes are not on the rpm, it just dies and hits 0 rpm.

3 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2009 Volkswagen GTI

Failure Date: 07/22/2018

Abs faliure. Abs warning light activates, activates sporadically while driving randomly, braking ability is hampered, does not work normally. Occassionally antilock breaks engage at low speed breaking. Brakes do not function normally. Speedometer experienced malfunction, fluctuations not related to speed occured. Stability malfunctioned during breaking and automatic downshifting.

4 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2009 Volkswagen GTI

Failure Date: 08/13/2017

Epc light issue -which means electronic power control the vehicles computer suddenly cuts power away from the accelerater pedal causing rapid deceleration leaving the driver helpless to control the vehicles speed. I was merging onto a interstate into 70mph traffic and my epc light activated and left me unable to control my speed and safely merge into traffic almost causing a major accident -- very dangerous situation.

5 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2009 Volkswagen GTI

Failure Date: 04/11/2015

Driving at speed, the abs control module randomly fails, causing abs brakes to skid under hard braking. Lose of steering and control is the result. In addition the partial steering is affected. This is a lawsuit waiting to happen, I can not understand why Volkswagen of american does not replace faulty units as this can cause fatalities and injuries. Many people are replacing these units through non-certified technicians, or diy. This should be installed by a vw certified tech. Nhtsa should mandate a recall or someone could get seriously injured or die. There are so many cases of this floating around the internet forums and other social media. Does someone have to die for people to finally listen?????.

6 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2009 Volkswagen GTI

Failure Date: 10/19/2014

Instrument panel displays check engine light, steering light, abs light, traction control light, brake light, tire pressure light. Abs no longer works in a hard brake situation, wheels lock and car will skid. Engine also refuses to rev past around 3900 rpm unless manually upshift to a higher gear. Steering assist no longer works.

7 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2009 Volkswagen GTI

Failure Date: 07/13/2014

When I started the vehicle after it had sat for a week without starting, warning lights appeared for abs, traction control, and brakes. I drove it around the block to test things out, and things seemed to be running pretty much like normal, so I drove it to a mechanic. They ran a diagnostic, and 8 codes came up, all having to do with the abs system. It was determined that the abs control module would need to be replaced. I didn't want to do the repairs at that mechanic, so they told me I could drive the car, but that I wouldn't have abs or traction control. Upon driving it a few miles, the lights turned off, and everything was functioning as normal. When I started it the next day, the lights were back on, but I decided to drive it to work, based on what the mechanic had told me. About a mile down the road, the speedometer stopped working, and the car then began to change gears at random, which presented an all new safety risk. At this point I also lost power steering. I managed to pull over and turn off the car. When I started the car again, just the brake warning lights were on, so I decided to drive home, considering I was only about a mile away. Everything was functioning properly on that drive. My complaint mostly has to do with the abs control module, as it appears that this is a relatively common issue for this model year, and it definitely puts people at risk, especially if it is affecting other systems, as well.

8 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2007 Volkswagen GTI

Failure Date: 11/30/2013

Passenger side headlight (please see attached photo "headlight. Jpg"): this actually happened for the first time the day we bought the car, right after we pulled out of your lot. We pulled right back in after circling the block, but after leore turned the engine off and on again everything was fine then. I have not found a way to duplicate this. It seems to happen randomly, but usually within the first minute or so of driving. There always seems to but be a bright flash from which one of the lights does not recover. Dashboard message: this one looks like it may be related to the first issue (again, please see attached photo named "message. Jpg"): the message reading "front right dipped beam not working!" usually displays within the first few seconds after starting the engine. I have not been able to find a way to duplicate this at will. It also seems to randomly happen, but a lot more often than the failing headlight under issue #1 does. The passenger door power lock seems to work only on and off. All other locks (I'm not positive about the trunk actually) seem to work fine. Alignment: the vehicle pulls to the left on the freeway. I bought a used vehicle from stevens creek volklswagen that was unsafe which was my understanding it was safe. I have attempted to get it resolved through the dealership and manufacturer but majority of the above listed items in first paragraph (I. E. , tire pressure sensor, speed, headlight) are still unresolved.

9 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2012 Volkswagen GTI

Failure Date: 12/31/2012

While pulling away from a full stop (light) the engine rpm surged to approximately 4000 and the transmission indicator light flashed (a "wrench" icon). The engine continued to rev but there was no movement of the car as if the car was in neutral. I turned off the car and restarted it. The car then shifted properly and the "wrench" icon had disappeared. This occurred while in the middle of an intersection.

10 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2008 Volkswagen GTI

Failure Date: 09/01/2010

2008 vw Gti dsg--automatic transmission problem: the car "jumps" randomly when releasing foot off the brake at a red light, or when engaging from park to drive and releasing brake. Many "close calls" to crashing and/or property damage due to known issue, especially when parallel parked on street: I. E. Car jumping forward or backward potentially damaging parked cars around or, even worse, "jumping" into the traffic lanes. Dealership deflects the issue, claiming it to be "normal" operation of the transmission. Warranty on the transmission has been extended to 10yr/100,000mile, though not in response to this issue, according to dealership.

11 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2007 Volkswagen GTI

Failure Date: 11/01/2006

This is a continuation from chris dunn 2007 vw Gti after the most "fix" for the transmission problems - one week ago - the car has developed another serious safety problem. When starting the car and pressing on the gas, you hear a loud thunk and feel hard hit and the car jerks (lunges?) forward about 5 feet. Since this fix, one week ago, the car not only does the lunging forward but now is also nearly stalling. After being at a stop and you depress the gas the car shakes and has the feeling it will stall unless you give it more gas. It then begins to accelerate slowly at about 1/3 regular power. This recently happened as I was crossing at a four-way stop and because of the hesitation I nearly got hit again. They also replaced the instrument panel for electrical issues caused every time it was hot that caused lack of instrument panel lights and all display info would not be visible. You didn't know what gear you were in,no radio, miles per gallon,or any warnings, etc. However, this was an unrelated problem not the trans problem which will get me killed. I have exhausted my options, have received no cooperation from dealership that serviced the car which is closer than the dealer I purchased from. The first time I had the transmission problem, I took to where I bought it. There was a major delay between throttle input and vehicle acceleration. They drove the car and duplicated the transmission problem of throttle delay. They said the car shifted at 1000-1500 rpm's past redline and asked if I had done performance enhancing tuning to the ecu. ---- I had not, ----this was a brand new car. They had me sign a paper to that effect, which I have. They said there was probably transmission damage to the car or there "would be future transmission damage" and sent me on my way. I called vwof America and got a "too bad goodbye". Since then the car in for repair at least 8-10 times, several days at a time ---and I am afraid to drive it. I am getting no help.

12 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2007 Volkswagen GTI

Failure Date: 11/01/2006

My 2007 vw Gti dsg has transmission safety problems that have caused me to nearly get hit numerous times. The problems began when the car was less than 4 months old. Without warning the car slips out of gear, lags, then grabs gear again and has to re-accelerate causing loss of control of vehicle speed. This has happened in traffic at speeds of 65 as well as in city 30-45 mph. This has happened when pulling out onto a busy turnpike and suddenly having the car have no acceleration power almost causing me to get hit by oncoming traffic. When going at highway speeds it has happened with no warning and suddenly the car decelerates and there is a several second lag before it grabs and decides to go again. This can happen several times consecutively which is a very serious safety issue. I have had the car into the dealer at least 8-10 times and everytime they tell me it is fixed and then I pull out and it slips out of gear again. They have replaced the mecatronic unit, reflashed the ecm, added in a missing launch control program and replaced intake flap motor. These problem have taken all my faith out of the vehicle. Everytime I drive I am afraid. You don't know when it will slip out of gear and lose power. I hear a loud thunk from the engine and it feels like the car has been hit from under the hood. I have to continue this on another complaint form b/c of length, pls. See page 2 of chris dunn 2007 vw Gti.

13 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2007 Volkswagen GTI

Failure Date: 08/14/2006

Speedometer is about 9% off. (speedometer reads 70 mph, actual speed is 63-64 mph).

14 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 1999 Volkswagen GTI

Failure Date: 12/19/2000

While driving about any mph rpm will go over 1500 and engine will die without a prior warning. Had taken vehicle to shop, and they said it was coil pack that was malfunctioning.
