general problems of the 1997 Volkswagen Jetta

Three problems related to tire have been reported for the 1997 Volkswagen Jetta. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Tire problem

Failure Date: 07/27/2004

The consumer's 1997 Volkswagen Jetta GLS had multiple component failures. *** there was an engine coolant leak, the a/c did not function properly, the windshield was broken, the body had rust damage, the drivers side power window made noise, there was excessive rust to the muffler, excessive worn tires, engine and transmission sensors.

2 Tire problem

Failure Date: 01/01/1901

Problems with ignition switch and tire equipment. The dealer replaced the ignition switch and starter assembly. On another occasion, while the consumer was driving, the rear tire fell off the vehicle, themechanic informed the consumer it was due to ball bearing seizing which caused a tremendous amount of heat.

3 Tire problem

Consumer got a safety advisory letter from Volkswagen regarding fuel tank system and right rear tire. Consumer stated that this letter should be called a recall. Consumer felt people would ignore an advisory letter. Please add VIN.
