Unknown Or Other problem #1

After starting the car and letting it warm up. I drove out of my driveway to the stop sign. Made a right turn and then a quick left. After turning the car could not go into gear, the rpms kept racing up . But the gear would not engage. Pulled into a store parking lot and drove around in circles at this low speed . Until finally the car jumped into gear and I took off. Car was diagnosed as having a bad mother board to the cars computer. It drove fine for a few days then at a stop light it jumped off again. (car was warm because I had driven a distance). Today I had the transmission flushed and changed. No improvement again. Usually the car will drive straight after it's real warm. But if I make a sharp turn the car jerks and revs up the rpms just as if it was cold. The vw folks kept misdiagnosing and giving me the wrong parts (these must be the same people that made the transmission. They've been a nightmare for assistance very unknowledgeable. I have been buying Volkswagens since1974. I have never had such a crappy piece of a car(also my first time owning a car with a automatic transmission and my last). It drives beautifully (when it's working) but has all plastic crap for parts. (while still under warranty I had most of that replaced). But to find that the transmission is faulty I demand a recall on this 2002 vw Jetta 1. 8t. I promise I'lll never buy another vw or will I let any one I know or contact through social media purchase a vw. I can actually say we have been ripped off by vw with their low standards for a car. These cars used to last forever what a way to rip off the public form for money! just like toyoto had a recall Volkswagen you need to recall this unrepairable car no and save your advertisement fees, because bad news travel faster. .

Unknown Or Other problem #2

My 2002 vw Jetta glx (automatic) has severe transmission problems. When accelerating, it hesitates and then pops into gear jerking the car. This is very alarming and dangerous, especially when I am on the road with other vehicles around me. I almost had several accidents due to trying to pull out in traffic but the transmission is so unreliable and slips thereby causing me to stall in oncoming traffic. Then, today the car would not go into reverse or neutral at all. I've seen so many transmission complaints about this year's model and it is so unfair for the consumer to be responsible for this expensive repair.

We were traveling 70 mph on a highway in our 2002 Volkswagen Jetta wagon (GLS 1. 8t) when, without warning, an loud "poof" sound was heard, the car lost all power, and we smelled burning plastic. The car regained power, then a second "poof" sound was heard, and the power flickered in the car, at which point the car began filling with smoke. We rolled down the windows, pulled over to the shoulder, and evacuated the vehicle. We pulled out what belongings we could, but retreated from the car once flames appeared on the driver's side interior. Approximately 1 minute later, the entire car was engulfed in flames and was a total loss. We are thankful to have escaped with our lives. Here are the specifics of our vehicle: model:jetta trim:GLS body style:4 door wagon engine:1. 8l i4 20v mpfi dohc turbo transmission:automatic.

Unknown Or Other problem #4

The automatic transmission-when shifted into d-lags for a few seconds and then the car lunges forward-transmission shifts in an odd manner-car only has 43000 miles on it-original miles-.

Unknown Or Other problem #5

Water ingress to interior of vehicle during rain. Front and rear footwells flooded, seems to be a common complaint. View internet search under Jetta water leaks.

Unknown Or Other problem #6

I inadvertently hit a pot hole. The pot hole was probably a little deeper than most. The driver's side-curtain airbag, the seat side airbag and the seatbelt tensioner were deployed. There was no damage to the car. There was no immediate danger to me. I did not lose control of the car even with the startling deployment of the safety systems. I was told by the guy in one of the body shops that I went to to get estimates that vws and bmws are known for their "touchy" airbag systems. I do not think that it is reasonable to have a $2700 repair bill, the inconvenience of all of the legwork to get my car fixed or the temporary non-functioning of my car's safety system just from hitting a pot hole! I am working on a claim and have not yet had the car repaired. Parts listed as being necessary to replace are: side curtain airbag, seat side airbag, seat belt/tensioner assembly, seat cover, a-pillar trim, headliner, sail panel trim, airbag sensor and airbag control module. Also, the car will need to be plugged into a computer analyzer in order that the airbag codes be reset.

I have had this problem and from what I have read on forums online which is quit disturbing hundreds of other people have as well. There is water that forms on both the front passenger floor and sometimes the rear floor during rains. It is supposedly clogged drains. Shouldn't these drains be big enough to handle the flow of debris and water. It has happened in a lot of different models of vw according to the forums. And I am under a 2 year vw warranty but supposedly this isn't' covered according to the dealer. This could have ruined electronic stuff in my car or could as it gets wet. There was nothing about this in the manual or anything I had to find it out online.

The contact owns a 2002 Volkswagen Jetta. When the contact opened the vehicle door, the passenger compartment smelled like melted crayons. The contact believed that the smell originated from the carpeting and the soundproofing material in the door and throughout the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and the technician was unable to determine the cause of the odor. No repairs were made at that time. The vehicle was taken to another dealer and they kept the vehicle for a week and washed the coils; however, they too could not locate the source of the smell. The current mileage was 68,800 and failure mileage was 65,000.

September 2002 - leased 2002 vw Jetta 1. 8t. July 2003 - check engine light came on, ignition coils had to be replaced per recall. November 2003 - plumes of black smoke came out of tailpipe - they determined the oxygen sensor needed replacing. November 2003 - (a day later) smoke still coming out of tailpipe, they determined there was oil in the turbo, they had to remove and install new turbo charger and there was an oil leak, they had to remove and install oil line. November 2003- car making whoosing noise, had to rescure loose intake hose. May 2004 - replace breaklight switch per recall. July 2004 - drivers side window fell - had to have both windows and clamps replaced per recall. (if this had happened after hours, my car could have easily been vandilized, fortunately it was during the day and I was near the dealer so they were able to get them wedged shut before they could get the car in to be fixed. ) July 2004 (a day later) - battery died, got jumped and was towed to shop, it was determined I needed a new battery. No problems for almost a year, thought I was homefree. . . May 2005 - clacking noise in engine, sludge on dipstick and in oil fill cap. No oil light or check engine light ever came on. Had to also have hazard switch replaced per recall. I am currently waiting to see if they will cover the repairs under my warranty. My car needs to have the oil pan removed to see if there is any further damage. I was never told to you use synethic oil in my car and that apparently is the cause of the sludge problem. From looking online, it seems many more people than just myself have had this problem. Vw needs to recall this.

Unknown Or Other problem #10
