Brake light switch failed causing brakes lights to stay illuminated even when the car is turned off and the key removed.

There was a NHTSA recall #04v096000 regarding the exterior lighting:brake lights:switch. The vehicle was exhibiting the same characteristics as indicated in the recall however, it was not included in the recall due to the VIN.
