My car was operating fine, then one day when starting it on my lunch break I heard three loud pitched beeps. Upon starting the car my abs and traction control lights were steadily on while the brake light was flashing. Clearing the codes, then driving about 15 mph the codes would show back up. Scanned it with a vcds scanner, and it shows 16352- control module- electrical error.
Abs failure that aligns with NHTSA campaign number: 16v913000 appeared on my 2009 Jetta. Year, make, and model are covered in the recall though vw claims my VIN does not fall within the recall parameters. Solid abs warning light and blinking brake light. Private vw specialist determined we need abs module and pump at the cost of $2500 for a known issue or we will not have anit-lock brakes. Per the recall, this can cause a loss of vehicle control and can increase the risk of crash. Failure occurred at 81k miles.
I have been told my car is not eligible for the abs module replacement claim but there is a problem with it as I drive the car. The brake light, traction control light and abs light are all on and flashing with a beep that is consistent once the key is in the ignition and it's a very distracting sound that I wish I could fix myself but even the part costs $600+ and to go to the dealer and get it fixed for $1800. I am a college student who doesn't have the funds to fix this issue and I have not been given a reason why my vehicle is not eligible for the fix.
My 2009 vw Jetta has the abs, electronic stability program (esp) warning lamps illuminated with a flashing brake warning light during normal highway driving. The abs system program was updated by my local vw dealer about two years ago as a part of a vw recall that was mailed to us. The car is extremely sensitive to wet or moist roads on a 90f day, it acts like it's driving on ice.
My son was driving down a windy road (going about 30, in the city) when the brake light, traction control and abs lights turned on in the dashboard. Car stopped ok and was not involved in an accident. The car started to making a beeping sound. When he arrived home we checked it with a scanner, cleared the codes. A day later the same issue with the lights come back on. I called vw and my local dealer and although there is a bulletin for the abs for my year Jetta, they said my car was not part of it.
I was on snow and braked hard to turn into my driveway, as I was sliding a bit. I heard a pop and the skid, brake and abs lights came on with a dinging alarm. My brakes still seemed to work. I took my car to have it checked and was told by my mechanic that the abs module was bad according to his scanner. It was below freezing at the time, so my mechanic told me to wait for the weather to warm up, and hopefully something was just frozen. He said that it indicated a ground wire was a problem to the abs module and maybe it was just a matter of fixing that, or the module was bad. I looked up that the 2009 Jettas had a problem and recall on the abs modules. I took it to the dealer, who updated software, but said mine didn't qualify for replacement under the recall. I don't understand how, if my module is bad and a ground wire is involved how the recall is not valid.
The abs module failed. Dealer said there was no recall for my car, but I see that there was in fact a recall of 2009jettas for this exact issue. My repair was 1413. 48 on 9/11/18. The vehicle was fine, inspected 8/10/18, one month later my 16 year old was driving to school and the abs light came on, the brake light was flashing, and there was a constant beeping alarm while driving.
My abs light came on and then my red brake light came on, a few days later my epc light came on. About a week after that that my speedometer stopped working and I noticed that the mileage had stopped counting. I took it to napleton's Volkswagen service department in orlando and (short version) received a quote to do the work of over $1700 to fix the abs before they could even tell me if there was a problem with the abs as they could not upload the software for the recall. . The problem was directly related to the abs module. . Which in my paperwork is described in the recall information. I have told them not to fix my car as I believe this is incorrect (most of the work they quoted I believe is incorrect) and will be taking it to a mechanic I trust. It also opens the door for fraud as if I allowed them to do the work and then "fix" the recall that would seem like they would be charging me and Volkswagen for the work. They also are charging me for diagnostic on the abs but per their own words they haven't been able to do the diagnostic. My car actually runs fine, however without the speedometer and having the brake lights on it feels very unsafe. The problem started 2 weeks ago July 23, 2018 and I brought it to service dealer yesterday.
Abs the brakes lights are on there a recall on volks wagon will not do it . I have to do every thing eles on it first. I just came in for the recall northing eles.
Onboard diagnostic code -012276 abs hydraulic pump - flashing red brake light, abs light and electronic stability control light illuminated. When stopping on a wet street abs failed to work and car skidded.
I was driving home and the engine light, the abs light, the brake light appear on the dashboard of my car, the speedometer needle stopped working. As I approached the red signal light on the street and pressed on the brakes, I felt the wheels locking and unlocking to the point I was without brakes when I got to the red light, luckily there where no other cars. Now I feel for my safety and the safety of my love ones.
Tl- the contact owns a 2009 Volkswagen Jetta. The contact was experiencing a progressing failure with the abs, electronic stability traction control illuminating and the brake light flashing. Months later, the contact was included in NHTSA campaign number: 16v913000 (service brakes, hydraulic, electronic stability control) and was waiting to determine when the dealer (charles maund Volkswagen, 6900 burnet rd, austin, TX 78757, (512) 458-1111)may provide the remedy for the recall repair. The vehicle was diagnosed by the dealer. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was not available. Parts distribution disconnect. Dyd.
Participated in Volkswagen recall involving the abs and esp warning lights and system failure. My vehicle passed the 'software' test in March of 2017, in may of 2017 I had replaced the brake pads, rotors and one caliper, approximately 2,000 miles later all of the abs, esp and brake warning lights can on. I took the car into the repair shop, they told me that they would not re-run the software update, the abs could fail and they would need to replace the abs module for a cost of $1,700. The error code I was given at the dealership is 16352 014, which indicates an electrical failure in the unit, my understanding is that this failure is part of the recall?.
Abs, esp, and brake light all activated at 93000 miles. Took vehicle in for recall service and was denied.
My 2009 Jetta has been experiencing issues. The abs light, stability control light, brake light, and check engine light stay on. The car sputters from time to time. I took it to the dealer in my town for the Volkswagen recall on the abs system. They supposedly fixed the abs software and module. Then they tell me the abs pump is bad but not covered under warranty. It will be $3000 to replace! they replaced the mass air intake, a $442. 00 repair and the car is still missing. Check engine lights still on. Now epc light is on. Also, all of my abs lights, check engine, stability control, and brake lights are still on. How do I know the dealer actually did the abs repair? also, why is the abs pump not part of the recall? it's difficult to believe that the software caused the abs module to fail, but had nothing to do with the pump. This car seems to be a lemon. Are there any plans to address the abs pump issue?.
The contact owns a 2009 Volkswagen Jetta. The contact stated that the brake light randomly illuminated while waiting to be repaired per NHTSA campaign number: 16v913000 (service brakes, hydraulic, electronic stability control). The dealer was contacted several times, but the contact was unable to schedule a repair in a reasonable time frame. The manufacturer had not been notified. The approximate failure mileage was 119,000. Parts distribution disconnect.
The contact owns a 2009 Volkswagen Jetta. The contact stated that the exterior brake lights remained illuminated. In addition, the dealer diagnosed that the abs modules failed and needed to be replaced. The manufacturer had not yet given the approval for the repair. The vehicle was taken to the dealer per NHTSA campaign number: 16v913000 (service brakes, hydraulic, electronic stability control). The dealer provided the contact with a loaner vehicle. The contact did not know if the dealer would update the abs control module software and replace the abs modules. The manufacturer had not provided a reasonable solution. The approximate failure mileage was 147,000. Parts distribution disconnect.
Multiple warning lights on dashboard, abs, traction control and brake lights along with 3 audible beeps. Abs system no longer functioning along with traction control. Mechanic has indicated there is a known defect with the abs module in this model year and just within the last week vw has issued a partial recall but has not expanded to include all vehicles. Repair costs are over $2000.
The contact owns a 2009 Volkswagen Jetta. The contact stated that while the driving at 25-35 mph, the etc, the abs, traction control, the fuel gauge, and the brake warning lights all illuminated. The contact stated that the brake pedal was depressed and the brake seized and the steering became difficult to turn. The vehicle was taken to day Audi located 1580 golden mile hwy, monroeville, PA 15146, (724) 327-4900, to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the abs module needed to be replaced. The vehicle was included in NHTSA campaign number: 16v913000 (service brakes, hydraulic, electronic stability control). The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the failure was intermittent. The manufacturer was contacted and notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 109,000.
My wife was driving her 2009 vw Jetta and the abs, traction control and brake light comes on the dashboard the other day with a beeping sound also. First let me say this car just turned 65,000 miles. I have owned many vehicles in my lifetime and this is unacceptable for a major safety device to fail as this did so early in the life of this car. I have read many other complaints that the abs control module fails and consumers have lost steering. This part is $1550. 00 and another $375. 00 to install, total of $1925. 00. You can only buy this part new at the vw dealer ( just called). I can't believe this has not been recalled by now. Please someone look into this problem. I don't want my wife driving this car, it is not safe with no abs working and possible loss of steering. Also don't know if this is connected to the abs problem but the rear brakes are used up way to soon. Brake dust all over the rear wheels. I'm a car guy and work on cars, this is not right. . Thank you. .
Jetta's abs light and traction lights came on. Speedometer will sputter and car dashboard will have a beeping sound with the brake light on as well as the abs light. Can will still drive normally but the warning lights and beeping sound will appear every few minutes. Took it to the dealer and was told my abs module needs to be replaced and the repair will cost $2400. Searched online and other Jetta owners seem to have this same problem.
Abs, traction control, and brake light warnings all flashing. Abs control module faulty and needed to be replaced.
I had scary moments while I was driving my vw Jetta last Friday may 13, 2016. Suddenly the vehicle started acting up. The lights on the dashboard that comes on for warning started blinking included engine, brake lights are constantly flashing, steering, abs, and e. T. C. (electronic throttle control) + bold red line flashing across drive gears display all in one!!!!!! which is not makes any sense. ¿¿. Had to maneuver over to the side of the road, lucky we didn't get in an accident!!!! what actually happens when it comes on it is hard to steer, acceleration goes slow, beeping hearing test noise frequents, gas gauge goes to e, and speedometer goes all the way to the end. This happens frequently and doesn't matter what road or highway I'm in, which makes it more dangerous when it¿s hard to steel and the brake lights are constantly flashing and when I steer the vehicle goes back not forward. I towed my vehicle to a local vw dealership and it was determined that the abs module failed and caused the problems. The cost to replace abs module is $2350 ($1650 abs module +$700 labor). This is obviously a manufacturing defect which can cause an immediate harmful affect if I was on a highway or not being careful I could have easily been in a life threatening accident I don't think it's fair that consumers should absorb the cost of this type of repair I think vw should send a recall immediately. Vw knows about this problem and they replaced the abs part # 1k0 614 517 bef with new part # 1k0 614 517 bk bef ( I request the old parts from the dealer) -attached my video that I recorded at the time that I had this incident. Randomly, most of the vehicle warning lights, check engine or malfunction indicator light, brake system, abs, traction control or esp, airbag fault, appear while I am using a brake for red light and driving on any kinds of roads. Then I feel the wheel as heavier than usual, the past (cannot turn smoothly like before). I just purchased the used vehicle on December 16, 2015. The cardealer, autonation, sold the car by advertising that's well maintenanced and all checked. However, within6 months after the purchase, those vehicle warning lights came up on the display. Autonation suggested me to go to wollswagen dealer. The mechanic at the local Volkswagen dealer gave me an estimates for the repair around 2,000 usd saying that abs system is not working and needs to be replaced by a new one. I asked a help to autonation, but the dealer said that's why Volkswagen car is known as a risky choise. The dealer appolozied me saying that he cannot help me. Is there any way to return the car to autonation or to get my car repaired by autonation?.
The abs module needs to be restore or replace. The lights on the dashboard that comes on includes engine, brakes, steering, abs, and e. T. C. (electronic throttle control). What actually happens when it comes on is it hard to steer, acceleration goes slow, beeping hearing test noise frequents , gas gauge goes to e, and speedometer stops working. This happens frequently and doesn't matter what road or highway I'm what makes it more dangerous when its hard to steel and the brake lights are constantly flashing.
Driving home when exiting off to the hwy my Jetta will flash the abs, brake and esc lights while beeping. Took car to mechanic it was relayed that the abs module was bad. I refuse to take car to vw dealer because I already have issues with them about the erc valve and diesel fuel particulate filter (engine light constantly stays on) being 1 of the issues vw has admitted being faulty but still not doing anything about it. To get the abs fixed it's going to be over $2500 and the have the erc & diesel fuel particulate filter fixed is over $3000. Each of these items are faulty and should be taken care of by the dealer with a cent paid from my pocket. Both are life threatening faults that eventually could lead to my death or deaths of others. I have no choice as this is my sole source of transportation so I have to drive it. Even though vw admits fault they are doing nothing to help except for offering "consolation" gifts - none will cover cost to fix car and get myself and others out of danger. Vw needs to be held responsible.
I was approaching a red light when suddenly the abs brake light came on, followed by every light on my dashboard. My car stalled and came to a complete stop. Fortunately I was in the right hand lane of a semi-busy street and was able to wait until my car started up again. Had I been on the freeway with my two small children in the backseat, I have no doubt that this would have caused a serious accident or death. I was told that I need to replace my complete abs system. I have approximately 72,000 miles on this car and have serviced it regularly. There is no reason for a part which affects the electrical system and safety of the driver should go out this soon unless it is a defective part - period!!! I know that hundreds have experienced the same problem as me as I have read their complaints online. Vw needs to immediately make the repairs necessary to correct this problem in order to make their vehicles safe to the public and before anyone is injured or dies. If vw ignores this problem, instead of dealing with repairs, vw will be dealing a class action suit. Please take note, vw.
Upon driving through a highway interchange at a lower rate of speed the electronic stability control disconnected with an amber solid light on the instrument cluster indicating so, the anti-lock braking system also disengaged indicated as well with an amber solid light on the instrument cluster, and the brake light was flashing red on the instrument cluster. Upon turning off the car and turning it back on it resets, however the issue is becoming more common as time goes on.
Anti-lock brake and stability control failure during braking event. During braking event on slippery surface: 1. ) abs engaged as normal at start of braking event. 2. ) abs stopped working and wheels locked up resulting in vehicle rotation. 3. ) stability control and brake warning lights came on accompanied by a beep. 4. ) after braking event warning lights remained on and abs/stability were non-functional. 5. ) after car restart warning lights were gone and abs/stability control worked. Under gentle braking on slippery surface abs works. Able to consistently recreate issue with hard braking or hard acceleration on slippery surface. There is no indication of an issue prior to failure. Car was checked by vw dealership prior to failure and no error codes were returned pertaining to abs/stability control.
The contact owned a 2009 Volkswagen Jetta. While driving at approximately 45 mph and applying the brake pedal, the abs, the stability, and the brake warning lights illuminated. In addition, there was a loud abnormal noise and the vehicle spun out of control. The vehicle flipped three times and crashed into a bush. The air bags did not deploy. There were no injuries. The contact did not disclose if a police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the rear passenger axle was fractured. The vehicle was destroyed. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 75,000.
The abs and parking brake light began to flash and beep constantly and the vehicle lost control for a small amount of time causing me to swerve a little bit but I regained control. I restarted the vehicle and it continues to flash and beep. This is said to be a known issue within the 09 models (the abs pump and module failure), but the company has yet to issue a recall to cover the expense of replacement. It is said that, the abs pump and module failure can cause the vehicle's brakes to lock up and not allow movement in close situations which can result in an accident. This is a safety hazard.
Intermittent electrical problems from undetermined source for last year, ended up losing all lights on passenger side of car, and some lights/light function on driver's side, including brake lights, turn signals, headlights etc. Random security alarm going off without being able to turn it off, brake warning lights, traction control issues. After a quick internet search I became aware that this is a very common problem and known vw issue, and found f16 fuse to be melted along with a portion of the fuse box. Called the only vw dealer in the city 10/23/14 and was told I had two safety recalls on my car, one for an ecm software update and one for this electrical issue, neither of which I was notified of, yet have been notified to have the "diesel only" sticker installed, and haven't moved since long before I purchased the car. Dealer is not able to look at my vehicle until 10/27/14 and cannot provide a loaner car since Volkswagen won't reimburse them for that cost. Called Volkswagen customer service and spoke with doug, only to be told they could not authorize rental car reimbursement, and I would need to either shoulder that expense myself or continue driving the car in it's current state. Informed him that the car was not safe to be driven with the lighting issues, and fuse f16 being tied into abs as well, was told he couldn't help me. If they had done the correct thing, I wouldn't be left in an unsafe car to transport my family, due to their engineering design negligence.
Brakes squealed from the date of delivery in March 2009. Vehicle was taken to vw service department on several occasions to inspect brakes. I was told each time that that's common in the vw Jetta and I had to get used to it. Brakes seemed to fail on several occasions and caused an accident. Vehicle was taken to vw service after accident several times to inspect brakes and each time I was told nothing is wrong until they finally replaced the booster and the sway bar links. After vehicle was delivered back to me, the brake fluid started to leak and the brake warning light keeps illuminating. Vw said that nothing is wrong with the car. The car has delayed braking and sometimes no brakes and is dangerous on the roads, especially the highway.
