The contact stated that the steering wheel cover slip in the air bag horn area was defective and the contact was concerned that the air bag would erroneously deploy. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for inspection. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 50,000 and the current mileage was 71,000. Updated 08/27/lj the steering air bag cover also served as the horn contact area I. E. The consumer had to press the air bag cover to activate the horn. The steering wheel air bag cover was splitting in multiple areas due to horn usage I. E pressing on the cover to activate the horn. The steering wheel air bag cover should withstand a lifetime of use without failure. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue, but they refused to replace the steering wheel airbag which included the cover. Updated 08/29/13.
