My vehicle shuts off while driving and I see certain lights show up when this happens the I lose the control of the vehicle until it powers back on. Ive already ruled out the battery and alternator in the vehicle. I looked up recalls and though there is not one associated with my VIN there are recalls that are very similar to my issue that I have from December 15, 2016. When the vehicles electronics shut of the wheel locks making me unable to turn. When the electronics come back on I regain full mobility.
Abs module has failed. Fuel pump has failed. 3 door lock modules have failed. Radio has failed. Fuel pump issues caused battery drain issues.
Turned on the car one day and the abs light came on and the emergency brake indicator started flashing on the dash. It lasted for a few days and then went away, but came back again a day later. I took the vehicle in to get it inspected and the anti-lock brake (abs) control module was faulty and had to be removed and replaced, which cost me over $2000. My complaint is that there is a recall for the same exact problem for the same year, make, and model of my car but a different engine type, therefore, it does not apply to my car (according to the VIN and your website). The recall campaign number that I am referencing is 16v913000. After reading other complaints, it seems I am not alone in my frustrations and that many others are affected by this issue as well.
The antilock brake system control unit is failing during abs or electronic stability control activation, resulting in a loss of vehicle control and esp light coming on and off randomly.
Abs sensor error- had to replace sensor on two occasions within two years. Each one costing over $200. On second replace, the sensor directly from vw was defective. Warning light comes on, goes off, comes on, etc. Comes on when moving and sometimes when sitting still. Mechanic told me this is a very common error. I don't want a car that is not fully dependable. After the tdi issue and 10 mpg less with the fix, I am very unhappy.
Abs and traction control are inoperable.
Abs recall: when the vehicle was started I noticed the abs indicator light was illuminated. Also, the brake light was blinking and a beeping tone was audible. Otherwise, the vehicle was driving fine. Next the steering wheel indicator, epc indicator, and check engine light was illuminated. Now, the vehicle is a bit difficult to steer and the speedometer is not working. There is an abs recall for vehicles of the same year, make and model, but unfortunately, my vehicle VIN is not included in that recall. I cannot get a clear understanding from vw as to why my vehicle is not covered by the recall.
My vehicle as well as many other others from model year 2006 to 2012 are experiencing abs and esc failures at an unprecedented level. I am personally on my 4th abs unit with 77,890 miles on my car. Each time it has cost me roughly 2k to replace this unit and the last 2 have failed within a year. With this failure I lose my traction control and antilock brakes creating a potentially dangerous situation for myself and my wife and kids more importantly. I am considering a class action lawsuit. Trust me. . . I have enough complainants just in pikeville ky. It makes driving in rain incredibly difficult and dangerous and makes controlling the vehicle exponentially more difficult. Please look into this!!!! vw America is burying this issue and a simple bing or google search will show you countless complaints. The date I'm going to include below is the last unit failure.
Abs warning light on, traction control warning light on and brake light flashing NHTSA recall bulletin # 16v913000 brake are acting sporadic, pulsating when trying to stop. City driving does not fell safe. Vw says my vehicle is not covered and it is the exact model in the bulletin referenced above.
The abs system went out of control, all of the sudden the lights on the dashboard where on. The car was in motion when this happened it was a scary situation! there is a local Volkswagen near my house and this people suggest me to change the entire abs pump, vacuum pump and they got the nerve to charge me for the car revision when they knew this car is on recall.
Brakes will lock at times. Pedal will go to floor at times. Recall issued for other Jettas with similar problems, why not mine?.
Tl- the contact owns a 2010 Volkswagen Jetta. The contact stated that there was a internal leak from the motor associated with the engine, the left side low beams had shorted several times, the skid warning light illuminated and then the vehicle traction was poor so the suspension and steering was loose while braking. The vehicle was taken to a mechanic for further testing and diagnosis. The contact was excluded from 16v913000 (service brakes, hydraulic, electronic stability control). The manufacturer was notified of the failure, indicated that there was no recall and provided no solution so the contact was uncertain if the vehicle would be repaired. While driving, the car inadvertently disengages the dsg transmission resulting in no power transfer to the wheels. The car also displays an "esp error" (electronic stability program) in conjunction with the transmission problem. Once the car is shifted into park and turned off, and then back on, the problem is resolved temporarily. It happens without warning and poses danger for the driver and occupants. This initially happened 2 months prior after a headlight burned out and the bulb status light on the dash came on. The transmission disengagement event occurred once or twice before the headlight was replaced. After replacing the light bulb, the transmission error appeared to resolve itself. Two months later, the event occurred following the failure of a valve stem with tpms sensor on the tire. The repair shop did not have any tpms sensors in stock and replaced the stem with a rubber one. This resulted in the tpms status light being on in the dash. Coincidentally, within a couple days of this, the dsg transmission /esp error re-emerged. This time around the error occurred every 5 to 10 minutes of driving. This disengagement happened during city and highway driving at varying speeds. Disabling esp and driving in manual mode did not fix the problem. This leaves the occupants in a dangerous situation, especially when driving through construction zones and other areas without adequate shoulders on the road. The car is up to date on preventative maintenance. Car is at 113,000 miles. Extended warranty expired at 109,000. Neither vw of America or warranty company say they can assist. Dealership service cannot specifically diagnose the problem and suggest either mechatronic unit replacement ($2,000) might solve the problem. If not, complete transmission replacement ($5,000) is recommended.
I enjoyed this car for the first year from then on nothing but constant problems. The daul mass flywheel, the diesel particulate filter #1 at 98000 miles with a con artist service manager at lagdon vw in vernon CT. Telling me I needed another one 3 weeks later and it was my fault and not covered with vwoa standing by the dealer I took the car to a non vw repair shop and they laughed when I told them my story and had the diesel particulate filter fixed in 10 minutes with no charge. The car passed state emissions with no problem. The high pressure fuel pump went. Now with 6 payments left it needs too much to list and I may default on loan because of constant money spent on repairs. The credit union says thay may stop financing vw tdi's because of all the complaints and defaults.
While driving home to panama city beach FL via the florida turnpike car the engine revved up, I had no power and the esp light on the dash came on. I had to coast to the side of the road where I put it in park. I could not put the car back in gear. I then turned the engine off and waited a few minutes. I cranked the car back up and the light was not on. Put the car in gear and proceeded on trip. After arriving at my destination, I had three more instances of the same action. I contacted my local dealer to make arrangements to bring the car in. This has been a very frightening experience, especially during highway travel (which is mostly where this car is driven). Losing power at 70 mph in congested traffic would no doubt result in multiple injuries, property damage and most likely deaths. This problem needs to be resolved on a global level with Volkswagen.
Esp error. Car would not start. Condensation in charge air intake system caused failure in esp system and air intake.
I purchased my brand new vw Jetta from the dealership lot. Less than 4 weeks later when the car was in the driveway I started it, and as I pressed the gas down the car began to move (in a sputtering/jerking type of movemen)t but it was not able to go more than 7 feet before it stalled out,, and the rpm's were high and the car just moved like it was not able to properly accelerate, it stalled out before the end of my drive way. I started it again and it drove properly, this exact incident occurred at least1- 2 times a week on a cold start. I took it to dealership, nothing found on diagnostics. Then at least every 1-2 months I took it to dealership, no proof on diagnostics . Next a recall & work was done. Same problem occurred again and again. Took it back. They said they could not find a solution because its not repeating the stalling when its at dealership. I am still having the issue of my car stalling out when driving, it is a safety issue. It is dangerous driving a car that stalls out while you are on the road. Since the cold start issues I have also had it stall out on the road, in an intersection. This car is still repeating the stalling. I cannot get any answers on how to fix it due to no "proof" on diagnostics check. I feel unsafe in my car. It starts to accelerate then shuts off. This is not acceptable and hasnt ever been properly fixed even thoughvw corporate has a case on the issues of my car. .
