1 Air Bag Light On problem

Failure Date: 08/15/2019

Airbag light went on about two months ago. I know that many vws, including 2010 Jettas like mine, were subject to recall for clock spring. I believe my car should be included in that recall and this should be fixed free of charge by vw. Called dealership and they said it's not and that I'd have to pay the $125 diagnostic fee to have it checked out. Have read many stories of how you are receiving my complaints from vw owners about this problem. Recall needs to be expanded. Light is on all the time. Called vw customer care and they could not have been less helpful. Called yesterday and asked to speak with a supervisor. They said there no supervisor would be available until the following afternoon. Please expedite I'm very concerned about my safety and driving this vehicle. Have been loyal vw customer since 1998 but given this experience and the company's recent ethical malfeasance, am not surprised the company is struggling to stay afloat.

2 Air Bag Light On problem

Failure Date: 08/07/2018

We purchased this car two days ago for our 18 yo daughter and I did not notice the airbag light on. It was when she pulled into the driveway and tried to honk the horn that our attention was drawn to the light. It is at the dealer today having the clock spring repaired and costing $450. 00. As I began to research the problem, I became aware that in 2015 vw had a recall on the clock spring of the cc and passat. I asked the dealer if this car would be covered under the recall and he said the Jetta was not under any recall. My reply, "hmmm, I guess it's just a coincidence. " I had read that there was an investigation into the recall failing and that possibly there would be an expansion of the vw's being recalled for this issue which does include the Jetta 2010-2014. The dealer told me if that did happen, I would be able to get all of the expense reimbursed. It is infuriating to me that there is a known failure of the clock spring in vw's and the company is not being responsible about it. My daughter would not be safe with a car that has a failing air bag. It is morally unconscionable.

6 Air Bag Light On problem

Failure Date: 01/11/2016

During a trip, the air bag light came on and airbag service message was displayed when I restarted my car after filling up the gas tank. When I brought it to the dealer, they found the code for faulty n9s - airbag exceeded. As I understood it, I had no airbag protection during the time it took to get this fixed. Vw corporate refused to pay for any of this repair, which cost me $913. 58 to replace the airbag in the steering column. Vw claimed that my car VIN was not part of any previously announced airbag safety recalls.

7 Air Bag Light On problem

Failure Date: 09/01/2015

The day I received the email from the NHTSA for the clock springs failing on my make and model of vehicle my airbag light came on. At first I didn't think anything of it and then I lost my horn and radio controls on my steering wheel. Since I had just read the investigation that is been initiated I knew that is what it was. It is the only part that powers the steering wheel. The campaign number for that is 15v483000. It still drives just as it always has but I don't have any steering controls and if I were to get in an accident hard enough to deploy air bags my drivers side would not deploy.

8 Air Bag Light On problem

Failure Date: 11/20/2014

Airbag light is illuminated. Vw service department notes the airbag spiral spring needs to be replaced costing ~$600. It would seem to be a safety issue and should be replaced by vw.

9 Air Bag Light On problem

Failure Date: 09/09/2013

The airbag stopped functioning without any reason. The car was being started when the airbag error indicator came on and stated airbags are not functional. Vw says that this is not included in the safety warranty, which does not make any sense since its clearly a safety issue and should not be failing especially when the car is only 3 years old and has only 65,000 miles.

10 Air Bag Light On problem

Failure Date: 01/10/2012

Car was driven daily and air bag error indicator came on and has stayed on. Vw not willing to fix issue at all.

11 Air Bag Light On problem

Failure Date: 10/11/2010

Vw Jetta tdi 2010. On four occasions the car has completely died while moving slowly. (5 to 20 mph) everything in the car stayed on. I had to turn the key off. Place the car in park and restart the car. There was no indication of any problems before or after the car staled out. Nothing in the car turned off or on, except the radio after I turned the key to the off position. Also while driving door locks started to click open and closed at 65 mph. After 10 min of random clicking the doors locked and stayed locked. Airbag light came on while driving. The light went back off after 20 min or so. Has not come back on. Transmission is generally smooth, however at random it is very abrupt, even during gradual or steady acceleration/deceleration. Car has only one driver. Has only ever had correct fuel. Various other electrical problems began at 300 miles. All problems are random. Vw continually dismisses me. It is going into shop again on Monday. From the sounds of it they do not expect to do anything to fix the car. Just drive it a few days and see if a problem happens. Car has put me in the middle of intersection with no control.
