I have a vw 2013 Jetta with approx 65,000 miles on the vehicle. With in the last two weeks, my vehicle's engine just stopped while driving down the freeway in phoenix, az. I am driving at the flow of traffic and when I slow down and eventually come to a stop the engine shuts off. The first two times there was no lights that turned on on the display pane. Last Saturday while driving to the airport to pick up my wife again the engine shuts off as described, but this time, it appeared all the lights were on the panel. I had to put the hazard lights, put it on park to start the vehicle. I currently have the vehicle at larry millers for inspection and told them we have a safety issue with the vehicle.
While vehicle in parking with motor on it shut off. This has happened twice. The first time was in my carport, the second time in was on the street. There was no lights on dash that would indicate something was wrong. I immediately turned it on and no futher problems at the time.
I purchased my 2013 Jetta on end June 2017 for 47 k miles from hayward certified used vehicle dealership in California. Couple months after the purchase, my car start to show problems with car stalling. It has been four time in less than one month time where the car completely shut down while driving for no reason. . The first time I was driving on the frontage of I-35 south, on 50 mph, it shut down out of blue, I was luckily enough to be able to pull over and park on the grass, I had to turn the car off and retry the car again and it worked fine. The second time I was driving on the west william cannon dr on way to home, it shut down for no reason again on 45 mph, again I was capable to pull over, shut down and restart again, did not work for 10 minutes then I tried again then it worked. Third time I was on way to my friend home, at the stoplight I was planning on take a left turn on my way to little texas lane, and it shut down for no reason, I had to react fast and hoping that it would start again in order to not cause traffic, it worked fine again. The fourth time I was driving 70 mph on highway of i35 south, it suddenly shut down again and I had to be very careful to slowly pull over to the side with no power in the engine and luckily there was not much of cars at that time. I was very lucky, because I could easily being in an accident. I have contacted the dealership in austin where I was located at that time, they could not find anything. It is frustrated because I do not know what to do and I need to return to California and I do not feel safe driving with this car at all because of my safety.

My car displays no problems on the dash, there are no lights on but when I am driving the car stalls and sometimes just shuts off locking my brakes and steering. Usually happens when the car is going under 20mph. After it shuts of I have to put it in park to restart and it restarts without a problem.
This past may, we bought a vw Jetta gli at jennings Volkswagen (glenview, IL) for our son¿s last year of college. The car looked great and he loved it. At about 1000 miles, while he was driving with his friends, the car had a sudden loss of power ¿ a sudden engine shutdown. Luckily, he was crossing a parking lot so he waited until it restarted. We made no big deal of it and took it to jennings where they did not find anything. Then, just last week, at 3000 miles, the same happened while he was driving with our daughter in the car on west lake avenue. This time, we were concerned, since this happened during rush hour in a congested street. We worried now, since this was the second time this had happened. Our son drives to the city on a daily basis to attend school and he takes the highway. What if that had happened on the highway and a truck had been behind him? it could have been disastrous. We did some research and found out that there has been a fatal accident in australia with another vw, with the same type of transmission, experiencing sudden engine shutdown on the highway. There has been a recall of certain of these cars in china, japan, and australia for similar issues so we are really concerned. Our son took the car to jennings again, and was sent home with a rental car while they looked into the issue. They apparently did various driving and mechanical tests and could not reproduce the scenario, since apparently the car¿s computer had not registered any of the failures. The car dealership refused to buy back or replace the car.
