1 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 06/15/2026

My 2024 Volkswagen Jetta has about 14,429 miles, driven almost entirely on the highway between two texas cities, with little city traffic and no mountain driving. The rear brakes are wearing out far faster than normal. At a dealer inspection on June 15, 2026, the rear linings measured 1 mm and 2 mm, nearly gone, while the front linings still measured 10 mm. This is the reverse of normal wear, since the fronts do most of the braking and should wear first. The vehicle is available for inspection. This is not sudden. A prior dealer inspection on July 7, 2025 already showed the rear linings (9 mm) more worn than the fronts (11 mm). Between the two inspections the fronts lost about 1 mm while the rears lost about 7 to 8 mm, so the rears are wearing many times faster than the fronts. Both inspections were done and documented by an authorized Volkswagen dealer. Given the low mileage and highway-only use, this cannot be normal wear. The rears are approaching metal-to-metal at very low mileage, which compromises braking and is unsafe. The pattern points to a mechanical defect, such as a seized rear caliper or a dragging or malfunctioning electronic parking brake that keeps the rear brakes partially applied. Premature rear brake wear is widely reported on this model, and the manufacturer issued a rear brake pad warranty extension for affected vehicles, acknowledging excessive wear and possible workmanship issues. No crash, fire, or injury has occurred. I am reporting this so the defect can be investigated and other owners protected.

2 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 05/29/2026

The rear service brake assembly—specifically the rear brake pads and rotors—suffered premature wear and catastrophic structural failure. The defective parts are not available for inspection, as they were discarded by firestone during the emergency repair to restore the vehicle to a safe operating condition. The problem was first confirmed by an authorized manufacturer dealer, larry h. Miller Volkswagen tucson. It was subsequently confirmed, documented, and repaired by an independent service center (firestone). The vehicle and the failing brake components were physically inspected by the manufacturer's authorized dealership service department at larry h. Miller Volkswagen tucson prior to the repair. No dashboard warning lamps or error messages illuminated. The symptoms appeared suddenly at approximately 33,200 miles in the form of severe metal-on-metal grinding noises, a vibrating brake pedal, and noticeably reduced stopping power during routine deceleration.

3 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 08/28/2025

Brakes make loud noise when I come to stop when leaving highway. Rear pads are at 2mm as of 8/28/2025 when they were replaced in on 5/14/2025. Repairs were performed by dealership on 5/14/2025 but they did not replace the rotors, they only replaced the rear pads.

4 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 08/13/2025

I just got this 2024 Jetta sport 6 speed manual and tried getting up the drive that's slightly inclined and the brake assist would not disengage or the fuel was cut after it didn't progress then dies. It is possible to power through the brake assist but it will cause premature wear on the clutch, flywheel as well as the rear e brake with all this wireless tech on the brakes, throttle can't figure it out so take it back.

6 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 01/08/2025

My 2024 Jetta with only 14,776 miles had rear brakes and rotors that were unsafe and worn out. They had to be replaced to avoid the possibility of brake failure and an accident. I paid $453. 34 out of pocket. Vw knows there is a defect with the rear brakes on this generation Jettas wearing out prematurely. They are covering these parts under only certain VIN and production dates but they admit all Jettas are subject to this wearing out of brakes beginning wiith the 2022 model year.

7 Service Brakes problem

8 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 11/11/2024

Vehicle is brand new currently has 13,000 miles, only highway driving, purchased car new in April 2024. Rear brakes wore down prematurely. Needed to replace rear brakes and rotors.

9 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 10/23/2024

The hill start assist is overly aggressive in these cars. It doesn't release for 3 seconds after foot brake is not applied. Once it stalls the car and your panicked. Then you apply foot brake to restart the car you get to wait another 3 seconds or you stall again. It is inconsistent in pressure applied and dangerous. I have been driving manual transmission vehicles for near 40 years. Perhaps if I lived in san francisco it might be of use but, with this activating at the slightest grade it is dangerous! look around the vw forums I'm not the only person to think so.
