My 2004 Jetta has 51,000 miles and is only 3. 5 years old. The air bag/ seat belt alert icon came on and I brought the car to new country vw in greenwich CT. I was told that the passenger seat belt latch failed and needed to be replaced. I was charged $140. 00 for this visit and was told that the repair would cost $425. 00. They stated that the part was on a nation wide backorder and they did not know when the part would be in the USA. The fact that there was no part available in the entire us indicates to me that there is a problem with this part. A critical safety component like safety belts should not fail after only 3. 5 years and should be excluded from any limited warranty. Also because of this parts failure I was told that the air bag system would not work properly, which is another safety issue.

I purchased my 2005 Volkswagen Jetta in April 2005 from colonial Volkswagen in feasterville, PA. On August 24th I brought it in because my front passenger seat belt broke. The dealer indicated that they didn't have the belt in stock and would have to order it. I told them that I was unhappy with the fact that they didn't stock seat belt parts for a new vehicle and that I felt it was dangerous to ride around in a vehicle without seat belts. I also called Volkswagen, but they have been unable to remedy the problem. As of today, sept. 1, 2005, the seat belt is still not in. This is a dangerous situation. If I should get into an accident and my passenger is hurt or killed, who is responsible?.

I own a 1999 1/2 Volkswagen Jetta. The seat belt mechanism on the driver side seat broke and had to be replaced at a substantial cost of my own. The piece that broke was the buckle where the belt gets inserted into. I was curious to know if seatbelts have lifetime warranty with cars. If not, does the Volkswagen Jetta have a history of seat belt failures? thank you, mark mclean.

Rear middle seatbelt is in locked position, consumer unable to use it. Consumer states the racket mechanism whis is designed to catch in an accident but be free to move under normal circumstances, has locked and the belt is tight against the seat back, this prevents the mechanism from releasing.

My name is tonya m shears my brother patrick w rice purchased the car for me. On 12-1-99 I was on my way to his house. I was traveling west onto south conversa. Miss carter was traveling north onto marion Ave. She was going about 40-45mph when she ran a stop sign. My car hit hers head on both my air bags came out. My car did about an 360 turn. When my car did come to an complete stop my seat belt had came off. When you put your seat belt on, you put it on for safety not for it to come off during an accident. That is when you need your seat belt the most. The car was located at campbell body shop at 507 amelia Ave spartanburg, SC 864-583-5616. The car was a total lose. You can speak with anne kohlmayer at 1-800-331-4920 ext 230 she is with general accident. Please look into this matter is get back with me. I just thank god that my children was not in the car. Thank you and god bless.
Consumer buckled up and drove around, then parked vehicle. When she tried to buckle up again, she couldn't because the orange button did not return up. This happened on the driver's side.

After I put down the rear seat (to open up the 60/40 split) the center seatbelt locks. I have loosened the seatbelt to ensure slack but it still locks making the center seatbelt unusable. This has happened 3 times. Each time I have had to have it fixed in order to make it usable again. . I do plan to send this complaint to vw as well as paul Ford clark.
Driver side seat belt release button does not release, causing the driver to be trapped in the seat, consumer also having problems with the brakes. When making a normal or graudal stop, the brakes travel to the floorboard, causing extended stopping distance. Consumer has contacted the dealer. Seat belts have been taken care off.
