Door ajar not working, along with interior light on drivers door, & cabin interior lights not coming on when door opens. Replaced drivers door lock actuator via dealer fixes problem. A very exprensive fix for a $17 microswitch (approx) part on the door lock actuator that fails very often. Many vw owners experience this.
The car doesn't recognize that the door is open. The interior lighting does not come on and the notification that the headlights remain on is not functional. This has left me with a dead battery twice. Also, the car alarm rearms itself if the engine is not started within 30 seconds. I believe this is a safety issue in that the lighting is not functional which is a security concern at night.
Bought used Volkswagen Jetta turbo. After one year of perfect functioning, the interior lights and air conditioning have totally stopped functioning. Mechanic can't figure it out. Additionally, trunk latch would not latch upon opening trunk.
The contact owns a 2010 Volkswagen Jetta. While driving approximately 65 mph she heard a throbbing noise coming from the speakers and all of the interior lights stopped functioning. She was also unable to use the radio. The vehicle was driven onto the emergency lane and shut off. Upon restarting the vehicle it would function normally. The failure continued to occur intermittently. She also stated that she would attempt to change the radio station but the radio would intermittently display a message reading "no cd" or "no magazine". A few months later while driving approximately 10 mph the vehicle stalled. Upon restarting the vehicle it functioned normally. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer on 3 occasions where they were unable to diagnose the failures. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 100 and the current mileage was 10,000.
I have had 27 things break or fail on my 03vw Jetta 1. 8t. I bought the car used in 01/06 with 32,000 miles. After buying the car the first five mins the window shattered. First two months 2 tires blew out, front rim cracked, back tires out of alignment. Dealer paid to fix rim broke 2 weeks later the dealer paid fo used set of similar rims. Every light inside and out went out by 05/06 driver seat wont raise up cargo net in trunk falls apart dealer wont cover. Gas and trunk release buttons fell down inside of door. Radio stopped working front door speakers are shorting out. Driver window switch goes up when you push down and down when you push down have to fiddle with it for it to go up. Exhaust hanger broke causing chatter. Swaybar bushing fell out causing grinding and shaking when ever moving. Not cover by warranty all these happened by 05/07. Now its 10/08 and I have 84,000 miles. Current problems are rear spoiler brake light hangs down(dealer just glued it in place lasted about 4 months) cam and crank seals leaking oil cause odor inside of cabin. If I drive for more then an hour I get sick and light-headed. Seat, cargo net in trunk, is still broken. Radio still isn't fixed so I just went and bought an after market. Speakers still shortening out only when its cold out. Keyless entry only works within 4ft of the car. In the winter the car only gets 18mpg on the highway and about 14 in the city and the car is parked in a heated underground garage.
Power train, electrical and trim problems.
Ihave a 2004 vw Jetta wagon. The instruments are impossible to see in some lighting conditions, especially the speedometer. The neddle is a dark, non reflective red against a black background. With a bright foreground outside, the speedometer cannot be seen, even with the lights turned bright. I e-mailed vw, but never received an answer.
Check engine light continuously comes on, completed recall for brake switch, epc light continues to come on, car stalls while waiting for a light to change very dangerous. After a night of rain, leak in passenger side floor mold growing car will have a very hard start or no start at all in the morning, replaced battery 3 times. Changed O2 sensor 2x, car burns oil continuously, interior lights go out when they feel like it, brake lights die out fast, changed brake lights and signal lights at least 5x.
Vehicle experienced several recalls/ and several problems: dome light, vanity mirrors, emissions problems, etc. . . The consumer experienced the following problems with: the interior dome lights, interior trim had come loose on the passenger side, the passenger vanity mirror light did not shut off, the cup holder was jammed and had broken, the driver window sounded as if air was coming in the vehicle, the glove compartment hinges had broken, the air bag light would come on when the radio was turned off, the sensors never seemed to work, the oil dipstick had given abnormal readings(showing low when oil was just changed), the lean oxygen sensor was replaced, the check engine light was intermittent but stayed on, and the catalytic converter was replaced due to noise which ended after the repair(the check engine light had come back on).
I own a 2003 vw Jetta. I bought it on 09/02. Since then I have had a variety of problems. First it was my electrical. By brake lights stayed on and the key less remote did not work I could not lock my car and non of the interior and exterior lights worked. I took this problem to vw and the said that I needed to make an appontment before they would help me. So I had to drive home with all these problems and make my appt. This problem was fixed however occasionaly the brake lights still stay stuck on. This was also noted to vw. The second time I took my car in for a rattle in my clutch. I was told I would need to take my car on a test drive with a customer service rep (?). So I did and she stated she did not here anything and I told here that when I take the clutch out it does rattles very loud but when I push the clutch in the rattle stops. Customer service rep stated since she did not here this she could not let the actual tech look at it. I demanded the tech to look at it. Finally the tech and customer service rep told me I had a rattle in my clutch due to my bald tires. ???? since I did need new tires, I replaced all 4. My clutch still rattled. (shocker) I then decided to take my vw to another vw service dealer, and they determined that the rattle was a loose heat plate. Vw dealer stated this was fixed. The next day this rattle was still there. I have taken this car in for a total of 3 times for this rattle. I have decided on getting a new non-vw car. Not only has the car dissappointed me but the servcie poeple have treated me and my husband like ignorant consumers. On each of these visits to the vw dealer they have ahd to keep my car for numerous days, and never was I able to receive a rental, which resulted in me missing work and costing me more money. *.
While driving 40 mph at night right headlight flickered. Then, both headlights went out. At the same time all dashboard lights went out. Dealer determined wiring leading to headlights had to be replaced.
I bought the car 3 days later the problem(s) started. And they have been going ever since. Shifting hard, display lights, would not start, wondows would not roll down, or iff they did, they made a loud thud.
The malfunction indicator lamp comes and stays on when the vehicle is started, unable to diagnose due to after market radio installation. Yh.
