Tl the contact owns a 2013 Volkswagen Jetta Hybrid. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 19v866000 (power train). The contact stated that while driving 25 mph, the steering ceased and the vehicle decelerated and stalled with the accelerator pedal depressed. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was restarted but failed to shift into gear. The vehicle was first towed to the residence, then to pignataro Volkswagen (10633 evergreen way, everett, wa 98204) to be diagnosed. While driving just after I exited the freeway, was pulling into a parking lot to go have lunch, the engine died, and the steering locked up, was unable to steer. I went in ate lunch drove it home on surface streets without a problem. It is a hybrid, I have taken it to the dealership, and they're telling me it is $13,000 to fix, but I'm more concerned that the car again could just lock up, and not steer.
