One problem related to check engine light on has been reported for the 2011 Volkswagen Jetta Sportwagen. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
It all started with a check engine light. Apparently the car jumped timing and the crankshaft went bad. This caused complete and total engine failure. This is a common problem with the jetta. I believe a class action lawsuit is needed.
