Air Conditioner Problems of Volkswagen New Beetle

Air-conditioner has gone out. Failure occurs after parking vehicle. Vw of America cant seem to find out why it fails to operate correctly. Have come up with various solutions without resolve. Already spent monies for service of problem and they cant resolve problem.

Air conditioner compressor clutch fell off car under normal use. This would have been a serious safety issue had the dust cover on the bottom of the motor compartment not have caught it and the clutch was thrown into traffic. .

My 2006 beetle convertible continues to howl with the a/c fan motor on. It actually sounds like a jet motor trying to land. The dealership says they are aware of the problem and they have had 3 others come in with the same complaint. In fact they said they replaced one customers car fan and it was even louder than before. They cannot tell me when they will have a solution but vw is "working on it". I have 9000 miles on my car. I live in texas. Does this qualify for the lemon law? this is now oct and no other attempts have been made to repair it. Has been going on at least since may.

The window switches have broken twice. They were repaired under warranty the first time. I have not had them replaced a second time, as the warranty had expired due to mileage (even though the switches broke twice within a year of purchase of the vehicle). I do not plan on having the switches replaced again, as I am convinced that they will simply break again. I have seen similar complaints on this website, so I wanted to submit further evidence that there may be a problem with the switches. The air conditioner stopped working about 2 years after purchase of the vehicle. Upon inspection by an independent service station, a leak in the air compressor valve was diagnosed. The mechanic stated that this was unusual and that there did not appear to be any trauma to the unit. I have contacted Volkswagen regarding this problem, but am not optimistic about a resolution, due to their response to the high mileage on the car which negates the warranty. As with the switches I have seen similar complaints on this website and wanted to offer further evidence.
