Vehicle Speed Control Problems of Volkswagen New Beetle

2006 New Beetle convertible, 5 speed transmission, purchased new by myself as sole owner. Driving down road on 12/4/11 late at night suddenly could not shift gears; car would not go into any gear, causing me to have to coast in neutral through dangerous intersection in a major urban city. Car was disabled and had to be towed to shop. "transmission failure" diagnosed at only 31,800 miles? (damaged transmission parts discovered - but vw denies any responsibility). This problem appears to be widespread in beetles, has been reported by many owners on public internet message boards, and sooner or later someone is going to be killed in an accident as a result. Personally I was lucky no one was behind me or approaching at a norrnal speed head on; had that been the case I would clearly have been in a major accident.

I just bought a 2000 Volkswagen New Beetle, and my transmission is slipping I have taken this vehicle to more than one location including the Volkswagen dealership and everyone is telling me the code read gear ratio incorrect. My car is very dangerous for me too drive the dealership told me that the transmission I need is 5000 and there is no warranty that they could offer me. I just bought this car I don't have 5000 for a new transmission and I have done my research about this situation and everyone is saying the same exact thing im complaining about how fast beetles transmission go out and half of them took there beetle to Volkswagen just for them to tell them they need 5000 to 7000 transmission and later find out that was jot even the problem and the car is still driving very reckless. I'm putting my life n danger every time I drive the car I have two jobs and I cant afford to miss one day. So u tell me miss days from work because I don't have safe transportation or drive the car I have n rest my life everyday. I need someone to hear me out and help me with this situation. I'm sorry to say I will keep complaining intel someone gets to bottom of this.

I have a 2007 Volkswagen beetle convertible. When slowing down, not to a complete stop, and I try to accelerate and go again, the car totally stalls (stops). This happens even when making turns- you can press on the accelerator and nothing happens and then in a couple of minutes it races forward. I called the local service department to be told it was a "bypass wire" problem, that nothing could be done, they all did that and Volkswagen was aware of the situation. There are so many times this has happened that I was almost in an accident because of the car stalling. It happens everytime, I slow down, but do not completely stop. To me there should be some kind of recall, that is extremely dangerous. I am surprised there have not been numerous accidents of deaths because of this. Even when you are sitting there pumping the gas peddle, it just sits there, and then flies off in a hurry.

Throttle body goes out (02-03-2009) cv axel goes out (03-31-2009 brake lights go out (02-18-2010) cv axel goes out again (4-31-2010) alternator goes out (06-21-2010) ignition coils fail (09-13-2010) ignition coils fail again(01-21-2011) brake switch replaced again (01-21-2011) air flow sensor fails (01-21-2011) air flow sensor fails again (07-26-2011) timing belt replaced (06-15-2011) thermostat replaced (06-15-2011) water pump replaced (06-15-2011) now having problems with throttle body/ throttle body sensor/ electrical issue. Dealer is not sure what the problems is and wants to throw money at it to see what the problems is. This car is just one problem after another after another.

Vw 2008 beetle does not accelerate when pressing gas pedal. It will have a delayed affect much the same way the Toyota sequoia is having problems with the acceleration. Dangerous if you are crossing a street and the vehicle will not move.

The vehicle ran over two speed bumps at 25 mph then jumped a curb and crashed into an apartment building. A police report was filed. Updated 10/25/2006 - a witness stated that the brake light were ulliminated and that he heard a revving noise coming from the vehicle.

Attempted to stop in driveway, engine raced out of control, could not stop and hit utility trailer in yard, car came to stop because of collision, shifted into car still in garage being fixed.

2005 Volkswagen, beetle. On occasion when stopping at red light,the car bogged down, when pressing the accelerator the car would not go. It would hesitate for at few seconds, and it will not take the gas. The engine had not quit as of yet. Consumer spoke to the dealership, and they put it on a machine, and drove the car. However, could not duplicate the problem. The dealership was cooperating , and said they would try to find the cause of the problem. This happened at 5 or 6 times since may.

This vehicle has had a series of problems since I have owned it. I have always been a Volkswagen enthusiast. So when I saw the New Beetles I was naturally excited and couldn't wait to own one. What I expected was Volkswagens usual excellent quality and value for money. What I got was a vehicle that not only is an inconvenience to drive, but is also a safety concern. This vehicle has had at least 8 major defects. I call them defects because so many others have experienced similar issues with their New Beetles. Keep in mind the vehicle is regularly maintained, and is only at 97,000 miles. 1. Check engine light is on and vehicle stalls or cuts out on a regular basis. 2. The low beams on my headlights always burn out. I change the lights and they just burn out again. I always have to drive instead with my high beams on. 3. My driver side and passenger side windows have fallen into my doors. Meaning that they wont roll up, a loud, noise can be heard when you try. I was told by Volkswagen that they were "aware" of the problem. They even told me that it was because they used plastic clips to hold the windows and they are now replacing with metal clips. Fine and good, but while my windows were down my seats became severely stained. (they stain easy) who's going pay for that??? 4. The window switch that controls the windows going up and down broke off in my hand. 5. The radio tries to load a tape when there isn't one. Hood latch broke, has to be opened with screwdriver now. Thanks vwoa!! 6. Heater motor turns up and down on its own 7. Engine holds high rpms in highway, rapid iol consumption. 8 reverse lights malfunctioned. Car downshifts extremely hard when coming to a stop, causing driver and passengers to be lunged forward in their seat. . Dealer states that this is a characteristic of the car. Problem is intermittent and increases when vehicle is warmed up. On occasion downshift occurred so hard that I thought I was just rear -ended by another car. I bought the car for my wife and now she is afraid to drive it.
