21 problems related to power window have been reported for the 2004 Volkswagen New Beetle Convertible. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
I have had the regulator replaced in my rear driver's side window and my front and rear passenger side windows. It seems that there might be a manufacturer defect with the regulators/windows. Thank you.
My rear passenger window is stuck in the down position. After reading many forums I can conclude that it is the regulator. This seems to be a recurring problem with many of these cars. I am most likely going to have to pay upwards of $1000. 00 to get this fixed. I am not happy about this. It seems to be a defect on Volkswagens part. How many complaints does this take to get a recall.
Vehicle is seven years old with 59,100 miles and already needs a new transmission due to incorrect gear ratio fault 17114, and po330. Also, needs a catalytic converter, has air leak from brake booster vacuum pipe. Vw corporation advised converter under warranty and offered $1,000 toward a new or used vw. The transmission is approximately $4,000. I declined their offer. I also had to replace three window regulators. . . . Updated 01/30/12.
Window regulator on our 2004 Volkswagen beetle convertible failed on the second rear window on December 18, 2010. The first occurred on September 22, 2010. According to our repairman, this window regulator is a very poor design and happens on many beetles, even new 2010 versions. Volkswagen of America refuses to issue a recall or warranty coverage for its design problem. Our cost to repair will be $850 to $1,000.
Driver side rear window failed 9-22-10. I put the windows down. I tried to put the windows back up as it was starting to rain. The driver side rear window will only go half way up and then stops and goes back down.
The window regulators on the 2004 nbc are defective. Both of my rear windows have broken. According to vw, there was a class action lawsuit where they extended the warranty on these parts for 7 years. When I called to see about mine they said the convertibles were not covered, even though the same parts were used. The windows broke when I rolled them down to get the morning condensation off of them. An outside mechanic will charge me $260 per window versus the $500 per window quoted by vw.
Vw 2004 New Beetle Convertible rear window inoperable. The rear window regulator fails and vw will not repair under the extended 7 year window warranty. I had both door windows replaced under the extended warranty. The driver rear window regulator was replaced under warranty. But the passenger rear window didn't fail under the car's warranty. However, vw has an extended 7 year warranty that they implemented only for the front regulators (why were the rear window regulators excluded? it is clear they fail just like the front ones do). The extended warranty should cover all window regulators as all of them have failed on my car and many others.
Rear window regulator issue with 2004 Volkswagen New Beetle Convertible. After reading hundreds of blog complaints online in regards to the issue of the rear window regulators defaulting on these vehicles mine has also become inoperable. There needs to be a recall.
The driver's side rear window regulator failed on my 2004 New Beetle Convertible today. After doing some research, this appears to be a very common problem but has yet caused a recall for defect parts from Volkswagen of America.
2004 vw convertible beetle needs the valve body replaced. Car only has 61,900 miles on it. Rear windows both have broken air bag switch needs to be replaced.
Rear window regulator defect window will not go up or down.
My wife owns a 2004 vw New Beetle Convertible with power windows! the vehicle has only 40k on the odom. But the rear windows have had to be repairs multiple times! there are several TSB's on this issue posted by vw. They will not cover the cost of repairs and this is a concern! I am having the repairs completed again for the 4th time at a cost of $500. 00 total ridiculous!!.
Passenger rear window regulator needs to be replaced. Broken. I read that many other vw beetle owners have the same problem and to report my problem here. My car is a 2004 vw New Beetle Convertible.
Rear window motor and or regulator breaks leaving the rear window in the down position.
Rear passenger side window will no longer come up. The regulator is broken and needs to be replaced.
Rear window regulator failure x 2.
The passenger side rear window will not go up. The dealership charged me $100 to diagnose the problem and determined that the regulator needs to be replaced. I purchased the premium vw extended warranty, but the dealership didn't repair the window (they claimed they didn't know if the extended warranty would pay for the repair - they wanted me to pay approximately $450 and then see if the extended warranty would cover it!) I had already had the passenger door window regulator replaced a few years ago - that was under the first warranty. If this is an ongoing problem, the regulators should be recalled and replaced for free!.
2004 vw nb convertible with recently expired warranty and the right rear window regulator failed. Left side replaced by dealer under warranty about a year ago. I was told that the replacement was an upgraded regulator. . . Original with plastic clips is subject to frequent breakage. Defective regulators should be afforded an extended warranty period for replacing with the upgraded regulator.
Approx 2-3 weeks ago my 2004 Volkswagen convertible back windows would not go up. The regulator/motor is the problem. I was told this was under a recall, but I cannot find the recall anywhere on internet. This is a safety issue. I called Volkswagen customer care 800-822-8987 and reported this. They said there is no recall on this. My warranty expired in January. I have been to dealer ship 3 times before my warranty expired for problems with this car. Now the back windows will not work.
2004 vw beetle convertible. Rear windows regulator/motors broke. Vw issued an extended warranty for front windows (7 years) rear windows have the same problem. Dealer wants $700. 00 per side to fix. Windows do not roll down on command. Often fall on their own after a bump in the road.
My daughter has a 2004 vw beetle convertible, and last summer she went to put the convertible down and the rear window motors stopped working. We called the dealership and since the car had 52,000 miles they told my daughter that it would cost her $1500. 00 to fix the motors. We have two more friends and their daughters vw beetles convertible windows stopped working too. I really don't feel that this is right. Electric motors should not break after 50,000 miles. Volkswagen should have a recall on this problem. "how do I go about getting them to fix this problem with their car.
